    Bookkeeper

    The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing of cashbook capturing and related reconciliations and assist the Financial Accountants as directed.

    What You’ll Do For The Brand:

    Financial Metrics:

    • Processing of weekly cash book transactions and ensuring allocations are accurate and complete.
    • Reviewing monthly petty cash recons.
    • Reviewing of general ledgers to ensure cashbook clerk, debtors and creditors capturing are correctly allocated and VAT correctly accounted for.
    • Ensuring the Cashbook Clerks, Creditors and Debtors meet their deadlines which will allow sufficient time for review of all general ledgers before the preparation of management accounts.
    • Capturing of monthly routine journal entries for review by the Senior Team.
    • Preparation of performance measures and supporting reports relevant to the management accounts.
    • Preparation of monthly high-risk reconciliations for review by the Senior Team.
    • Completion of monthly balance sheet recons for review by the Senior Team.
    • With the guidance of the Senior Team, preparation of the trial balance for the monthly management accounts.
    • Review monthly VAT ledger accounts, prepare output and input reasonableness schedules and VAT reconciliations which will be reviewed by the Senior Team.
    • Assist the Senior Team with the requests from external auditors, internal auditors and BEE auditors.
    • Assist seniors with adhoc tasks and company projects from time to time.

    • Ensure the above (final version) and other documents are chronologically saved/backed up and appropriately named.
    • Effectively deal with internal and external parties (auditors, etc.) where required.
    • Other:
    • Assisting with company projects as allocated from time to time.
    • Assisting with year-end audit files and audit queries.
    • Identifying accounting-related risks and ensuring proper mitigation of these risks.
    • Maintaining effective relationship and communication with Internal audit and Treasury teams.
    • Assisting with ideas on innovation and automation of bookkeeper functions.
    • Any other such duties that might be required.

    Payroll Team Lead

    What You’ll Do For The Brand:

    • Oversee and manage processing and maintenance of South Africa and Africa payroll companies, as allocated on the payroll software system to ensure effective, accurate, complete and timeous payrolls and payments.
    • Ensure statutory compliance:
    • Ensure legislative compliance for South Africa and African payrolls.
    • Payroll Team:
    • Overseeing the relevant payroll officers and junior payroll officers.
    • Ensure effective collaboration and flow of information between the team members, including the other teams and team members within the payroll department.
    • Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, performance coaching, supervising and discipline, including leave and hours approval.
    • Providing support and query resolution for the team, ensuring all queries are attended within 24 hours. Document all Payroll Improvement Queries, escalate and ensure all are fully and timeously resolved.
    • Encourage practice of the companies’ values.
    • Ensure adherence to procedures, policies and deadlines.
    • Providing applicable training (including the whole payroll department) where required.
    • Ensure Continuous Improvement by looking for ways to improve payroll department in all areas i.e. processes, people, risk.
    • Reporting and Reconciliation:
    • Overseeing, preparation, review and detailed checking of consolidated, monthly and other payroll packs, journals, reconciliations, statutory, costing and reports generated by the Payroll team as required, ensuring correctness and timeous completion.
    • Preparation and collation of finance salary, monthly and other packs and monthly, annual and ad hoc reports, analysis and reconciliations as required.
    • Banking:
    • Oversee and check salary, external and out of cycle payments ensuring correct, accurate fully approved and timeous payments for payrolls allocated to the Payroll team.
    • Responsible for all activities related to payroll processing any payrolls as required:
    • Process payroll and maintain payroll information accurately as required, ensuring all transactions are authorized, recorded and documented. This includes checking of transactions uploaded by other Payroll team members if applicable.
    • Ensure that salaries (spreadsheet and required documents) are signed off / authorized by the appropriate manager(s). Ensure that sign off (spreadsheet) balances to the payroll/pay register.
    • Ensure that salaries are correctly and timeously paid, and that provident funds, statutory and payroll related payments (external providers) are paid by the due dates.
    • Prepare and maintain related payroll packs, records, reports, summaries and journals.
    • Stay current and test Payroll system delivered tax updates/updated payroll functionality changes or new functionalities that are released in the system and communicates these to the department.
    • Provide support to all sections of the Payroll team, line managers and employees with Payroll related concerns and queries.
    • SARS, statutory and external providers’ queries resolved.
    • Performs other and related duties and general admin and projects as required.

    • Processing senior management and/or other payrolls as required:
    • Responsible for all activities related to payroll processing.
    • Preparing, maintaining and processing senior management and or other payrolls accurately and timeously.
    • To ensure all transactions are authorized by appropriate managers.
    • Ensure taxes, employee benefits and external payments are paid timeously.
    • Banking:
    • Oversee, check and release salary, external and ad-hoc payments ensuring correct, timeous and properly recorded and approved payments as required.
    • Reporting and Reconciliation:
    • Overseeing, preparation, review and detailed checking of consolidated, monthly and other payroll packs, journals, reconciliations, statutory, costing and reports generated by the Payroll team as required, ensuring correctness and timeous completion.

    • Analytics, checks, reviews and reporting as required.
    • Work closely with the Human Resources department and Finance to research and resolve problems, perform scheduled activities, prepare and maintain accurate records.

    • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll and ensuring it is communicated to the Team Leads.
