    Principal Programme Officer – Programming

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Experience in strategy setting, programming and program development.
    • Ability to conceptualize and convey strategic vision from the spectrum of development experience.
    • Experience in the development of technical guidelines and standard operating procedures in results and resource frameworks.
    • Experience in strategic planning, monitoring and reporting.
    • Experience and ability to apply various governance-related development theories to the specific context, including translating strategic orientation principles into effective policy and programme interventions.
    • Experience in interacting with senior officials and influencing senior decision-makers in a development setting.
    • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality practical advisory reports and knowledge products.
    • Proven ability to lead a practice area and drive for results with a strong knowledge of results-based management and budgeting.
    • Strong ability to manage teams; create an enabling environment, mentor and develop staff.
    • Demonstrated substantive leadership and ability to integrate knowledge with broader strategic, policy and operational objectives.
    • Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP ERP) essential.

    Education and Experience:

    • A Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Science, Engineering and or any other related field with eight (8) years of relevant work experience in  strategic planning and programming of which three (3) years should be at a supervisory level in within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
    • In addition, PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is required.

    Or

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Science, Engineering or any other related field with twelve (12) years of relevant work experience of which seven (7) years should be at a specialist/expert level in strategic planning and programming within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
    • In addition, PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is required.

    Head of Communications and Advocacy

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Excellent experience in communications and journalism to mobilise support and resources.
    • Excellent writing, facilitation, and presentation skills to provide effective leadership to the Division, articulate and promote AUDA-NEPAD and African sectoral positions, and compose and defend requests for support or particular actions.
    • Experience in leading and supervising a diverse team and the ability to leverage limited resources and staff for maximum impact.
    • Experience in managing organizational resources and deployment in pursuit of innovative approaches and initiatives.
    • Experience in working with social media and technology.
    • Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP ERP) essential.
    • Ability to always maintain confidentiality at the highest level.
    • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
    • Excellent strategic visioning, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting skills.

    Or

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or any other related field with at least twelve (12) years post-qualification experience in leading a communication function within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. At least five (5) years should be at management-level experience in leading and managing comparable within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Administration, Logistics Hospitality and Travel, Business Administration or any related field with four (4) years of progressive professional experience in procurement and/or travel management i.e. ticketing and airline sales in a busy environment within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
    • IATA Diploma or formal academic training or education on passengers’ air travel is required.
    • Certificate in Amadeus Reservation System is required.

    Or

    • A Master’s degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Management, Business Management, Gender Studies, Youth Empowerment, Education, Social Science, or a related field with ten (10) years of work experience in leading a function related to the management of capacity-building and technical assistance projects or a related area within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. 

    Or

    • A Bachelor’s degree in the above-specified fields and twelve (12) years of work experience in leading a function related to the management of capacity-building and technical assistance projects or a related area of which five (5) years should be at a managerial level within the public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.   
    • Additionally, candidates must have at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in managing a team of professionals or consultants.
