    Backing Latex Application Operator - Pietermaritzburg

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

    Complete checks at Campen Foam Generator

    • Check that the isolating switch is on.
    • Top up the lubricating soap reservoir if necessary (Campen Lubrication)
    • Check that the ball in the cooling water view port is moving, viz. that there is flow of the cooling water.
    • Check that there is 6- 8 bar pressure supply of air to the Campen.

    Set Pre-Coat Latex Application Settings

    • Go to the foam application control panel and check that the isolating switch is on.
    • Proceed to the main menu and enter the relevant data for the range of carpet to be backed (refer to Pre-Coat Application Data Sheet) viz.
    • The mixer output (g/m²)
    • The required foam weight (g/l)
    • The run speed (m/min)
    • The carpet width is always set (mm)
    • The two mixer head speeds are:
    • Head 1: 140 - 160 rev / min.
    • Head 2: 140- 160 rev/min.
    • The application (doctor) roller height is at the correct setting.
    • Start Latex Application

    The Foam Operator must:

    • Check that the Campen mixer is on manual (Toggle F1).
    • Start up the Campen pump by toggling F10 to on.
    • Start up the mixing heads by toggling F3 and F11 to on and check that speeds are in the given range (2 above).
    • Switch the Campen into automatic mode by toggling F1.
    • Do a litre lot check of the foam to check that it is to specification as given in the Pre-Coat Latex Application Data Sheet.  Confirm that your determination compares with the computer calculated value. (This check should be done on every range of carpet that is backed)
    • Visually assess the foam for an even consistency and visually monitor it continuously.
    • Note:   After start-up, the Pre-Coat Latex Application settings can be changed without stopping the application process (stopping the Campen Generator).

    Shut down of Campen Foam Generator

    • The Foam Operator               
    • Toggles F1 to manual.
    • Toggles F10 (Campen pump) to off.
    • Toggles F3 and F11 (Mixing heads) to off.
    • Scrapes Latex off carpet into collection trough.

    Clean Out of Campen Foam Generator

    • On shutting down for the weekend the Foam Operator must: -
    • In an empty Pre-Coat Latex tank mix up 10 Kg Soap: 300Kg Water.
    • Connect this soap solution supply to the Campen Foam Generator.
    • Flush out solution through the Campen, starting the Campen as per (3) but flushing the solution to waste in the drain, run the mixing heads at 150 - 200 rev/min.

    Procedure for Style Changes

    • Foam operator is notified by sewer of new style coming through.
    • Foam Operator will adjust Doctor Roller to required height. 
    • Adjust Campen foamer to required output and foam weight.
    • Check if style is to be Topical Coated if so; adjust Topical applicator according to Topical work instructions.
    • Operator checks Niproller for even application of pre-coat.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • At least one year Machine Operator experience.
    • Ability to work Shifts (12 Hours)
    • Latex Application experience is advantageous.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 /Matric with a pass in Maths/Maths Lit and English.
    • CTFL Learnership is essential.

    Unroll Operator - Pietermaritzburg

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

    • To follow the priority list according to the system - D365 and as per the (Supervisor).
    • To check that the correct carpet is being run according to the production plan.
    • To do width checks of the rolls before it will be run on the machine.
    • Sew the carpet on straight to the end of the last carpet.
    • To record the roll numbers of the job being run in the production book and D365.
    • The rolls need to be loaded on the system-D365 using that specific work order.
    • To load the rolls on the system using the Warehouse Management
    • User Id:
    • Password:

    Select: Warehouse must be on BPMBRM

    • Select: Production > Tile Conversion > Select the desired department e.g., Bit Tile line > MX roll load >scan works order> scan the LP from the roll label > confirm.
    • Unroll the carpet so it can be drawn into the machine easily not to cause any jam ups.
    • Keep your work area neat and tidy.
    • To follow and reasonable and lawful instruction.
    • Report any safety, health, mechanical, electrical & environmental issue to the (Supervisor/Manager)
    • Operators to communicate with each other when the lifting cylinder is coming up or going down.
    • Operators need to keep their hands off the loading beam when the lifting cylinder is coming up or going down. 

    Making of Box Labels: Unroll Operator / Supervisor

    • On the D365 system.
    • Open the WORKS ORDER which requires labels to be printed.
    • Change the view to TILES.
    • Go to the BOX (click on box label)
    • Preview will be displayed.
    • Enter the number of box labels required and press PRINT (once).

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to work shifts.
    • One year Machine Operator Experience.
    • Experience working in the Tile department is advantageous.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 /Matric with a pass in Maths/Maths Lit and English.
    • CTFL Learnership is essential.
