    Unit Manager - Acute Rehab

    • The Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating Quality Nursing Care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinating training, development and mentoring of staff in the Unit. The incumbent will be expected to apply and manage the best and most effective operational practice by focusing on the integration of people, technology and financial drivers in ensuring that Unit costs are maintained within budget.  

    Responsibilities and Duties: 

    • Administer and supervise thus ensuring standards for quality nursing care are met in the unit, evaluate on an ongoing basis and take appropriate action
    • Monitor and enforce standards, procedures and staff performance. Manage unit activities including irregularities and policy violations and take corrective and follow-up action. Perform clinical instruction as necessary
    • Control drugs as per regulations of the Pharmacy Act (Act 53 of 1974), perform checks on drug totals and drug registers and ensure that procedures and recording are adhered to
    • Rationalise and control emergency stock
    • Stock control
    • Monitor and manage staff attendance and ensure coverage of the unit at all times. Allocate staff, based on workload and level of competence ensuring optimal staff usage and maintaining the stability of nurse/patient ratio
    • Promote and maintain good working and interpersonal relationships with management, patients, staff, doctors and colleagues. Coordinate the activities of all hospital departments to provide uniformity of direction
    • Demonstrate professional ethics and leadership qualities. Maintain standards and conduct to the South African Nursing Act and SANC Regulations
    • Conduct frequent ward rounds and provide top-quality, customer-centric service
    • Ensure processes are in line with the working procedures and policies of Busamed 

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/ B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF qualifications
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
    • Post basic qualification in Management will be an advantage

    Work Experience

    • At least five (5) years relevant experience
    • Relevant experience in Management and clinical leadership is required
    • Acute Rehab working experience is essential

    Knowledge

    • Computer Literacy essential
    • Sound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Report writing skills
    • Analytical thinking
    • Must be able to function effectively independently

    Human Resource Business Partner

    • The HRBP should provide a full generalist HR function to the relevant business unit(s), including recruitment, performance management, training and development, IR and general HR administration and reporting.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification

    Registered Nurse - Acute Rehab

    • The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance to hospital standards and policies. The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs, is a role model in the delivery of evidence based care and will actively participate in Clinical Governance.  

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or equivalent NQF 7 qualification 
    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/ B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF qualifications
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse

    Work Experience

    • At least three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience in a Private Hospital
    • Relevant experience in all of the nursing disciplines is essential
    • Acute Rehab working experience is essential

    Knowledge

    • Flexible in working hours/shifts
    • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
    • Computer Literacy, SAP will be an advantage
    • Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities
    • Contribute to the holistic care of patients
    • Attend handover of report at shift commencement. Audit of health records to ensure compliance
    • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care
    • Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors
    • Practice the principles of infection prevention and control 
    • Carry out all departmental duties as assigned and perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Unit Manager or Senior member of the staff
    • Administer and store medication in accordance with hospital policies. Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately

    Enrolled Nurse - Acute Rehab

    • The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and Unit Manager.

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse
    • Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation
    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • A certificate in Enrolled Nursing  

    Work Experience

    • Relevant experience in nursing discipline would be an advantage
    • Three or more years of experience in a private hospital

    Knowledge

    Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary - Acute Rehab

    • The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary is responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group o patients and will function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and Unit Manager in accordance with hospital standards and policies. As a Professional Practitioner, the incumbent is also responsible for and is held accountable for his/her own acts and omissions. The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will be responsible for the assessment and care of the needs of patients and will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programs of care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients/ report potential/ actual risks identified, ensure all stock is well controlled and managed.  

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary
    • Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary and all applicable health care legislation
    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • A certificate in Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary

    Work Experience

    • 3 year experience in same position
    • Relevant experience in the nursing discipline  

    Knowledge

    • Flexible in working hours/Shifts

    Clinical Facilitator

    • The incumbent will be responsible for the clinical facilitation of optimal learning opportunities, the facilitation o clinical knowledge, and skill development of our nursing staff in the clinical areas.
    • The incumbent will enhance patient outcome through the assessment of nursing care standards, through the planning and implementation of appropriate education and professional competency development and with ongoing audit and evaluation of standards of care and quality indicators.
    • The incumbent is also responsible for establishing partnerships between the hospital clinical teams, and collaboration with all other Busamed hospitals to ensure continuous development and improvement of theoretical and clinical nursing skills, nursing standards and general nursing care within Busamed.

    Requirements

    • Registered as a Professional Nurse. with the South African Nursing Council or Registered Nurse with equivalent NQF 7 in speciality area
    • Appropriate qualification in Education (advantageous if appropriate)
    • Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislation

    Work Experience

    • Experience in the clinical nursing environment – at least 4 years in a hospital environment
    • It will be advantageous to have at least 2 years in a clinical facilitator/learning and development role

    Knowledge

    • Computer proficiency in the Micro Office Suite
    • Research literacy (advantageous)
    • Demonstrate clinical expertise and professional role modelling in the placement setting
    • Facilitation of a clinical learning environment for all nurses
    • Facilitate the implementation of evidence-based competencies
    • Design and support quality improvement programmes that support improved patient care and risk mitigation
    • Act as resource and guide in clinical quality improvement programmes
    • Comply with all BCA and Quality initiatives whilst ensuring alignment with Busamed strategic plan

    • Identify ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice in the clinical setting
    • Participate in the implementation of OHSC audits and NHN quality standards and other Busamed quality improvement initiatives
    • Create and maintain a positive environment where the differences of others are recognized, understood, and valued, so that all can reach their full potential and maximize their contributions
    • Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals
    • Collaboration with all key stakeholders
