    HRIS & Payroll Co-ordinator

    • The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation is currently recruiting for an experienced HRIS & Payroll Co-ordinator. The HRIS & Payroll Co-ordinator will be responsible for implementing the organisation’s Payroll and HR systems, enabling accurate, compliant, and efficient HR operations. The role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing on Payspace, drive the implementation, optimisation, and support of HR systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Direct Hire, and Power BI dashboards. The incumbent will also ensure seamless system integration, manages Employee Self-Service (ESS), maintains data integrity, and deliver analytics and HR reporting to support Management decision-making. By combining technical expertise with hands-on implementation, training, and stakeholder engagement, the role guarantees that all HR and payroll systems are secure, up-to-date, compliant, and aligned with statutory, donor, and organisational requirements.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Payroll Management, or Information Systems.
    • 5-7 years’ experience in a combined HRIS and Payroll function.
    • South African Payroll Association – SAPA certification (advantageous)
    • Proven end-to-end payroll experience on PaySpace (essential).
    • 2-3 Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 HR/ERP, Direct Hire, or similar HRIS (essential) as well as system integration.
    • Advanced Excel and Power BI data analysis skills.
    • Hands-on experience implementing systems and conducting user training.
    • Sound understanding of payroll legislation, data management, and system integration.
    • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with POPIA.
    • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage end-to-end payroll (monthly and ad-hoc runs).
    • Capture, verify, and reconcile payroll data accurately.
    • Prepare payroll journals, variance reports, and reconciliations for Finance.
    • Administer employee benefits, provident funds, leave, and other third-party submissions.
    • Ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, and statutory payroll requirements.
    • Implement Employee Self-Service (ESS) for and train staff on usage.
    • Maintain confidentiality and ensure data integrity.
    • Advise and support Leadership on HR systems architecture and optimisation.
    • Collaborate with IT to identify and implement system enhancements.
    • Implement, configure, integrate, and maintain Microsoft Dynamics 365, Direct Hire, and Power BI dashboards.
    • Oversee system upgrades and additions in partnership with IT and external suppliers.
    • Manage user access, permissions, and configurations in line with internal policies.
    • Work with IT to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with POPIA, donor, and statutory requirements.
    • Maintain data integrity and accuracy across all HR and payroll systems.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen data management and security processes.
    • At least two management approved improvement initiatives implemented annually:
    • Compile and analyse HR and payroll data reports and analytics.
    • Support HR in statutory and donor reporting (EE, WSP, HRID, etc.)
    • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for HR and EXCO insights.

    Study Assistant (Qualitative)

    • The primary purpose of this role is to assist the socio-behavioural scientists in conducting qualitative interviews as part of the qualitative sub-study for the MISSED OUTCOMES TB Study, which implements a mixed-methods approach based on the TB Care Cascade, in accordance with the study protocol. This will include qualitative data collection coordination, data quality control, data capturing, research process monitoring, and supporting analysis.

    Job Requirements

    • Tertiary degree in health-related field
    • 2 years of working experience in a research environment
    • 2 years of strong data entry experience
    • At least 1 year of experience in qualitative research (interviews, focus groups, observations) data collection, quality control, organization of data and preliminary analysis
    • Experience in using data bases i.e. Redcap etc.
    • Fluency in English and isiXhosa
    • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
    • Computer literacy with sound knowledge of email, Microsoft office suit
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions

    Responsibilities: 

    Study implementation: recruitment, data collection

    • Schedule interviews with recruited participants
    • Conduct in-depth interviews and focus group discussions
    • Conduct study Informed Consent
    • Ensure GCP guidelines followed for all procedures with participants

    Data Management and Analysis

    • Capture and upload qualitative recordings, and field notes
    • Data quality and accuracy check for all qualitative data.
    • Transcribing and translating qualitative transcripts
    • Assist with Qualitative coding and analysis as needed from socio-behavioral lead
    • Conduct literature reviews and participate in study related presentations if required
    • Assisting with SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedure) documents for all qualitative research

    Study Administration

    • Assist Study Coordinator with administrative tasks including QC of files
    • Call participants and schedule qualitative interviews including follow-up reminders/attempts
    • Travel to relevant sites for qualitative data collection
    • Participate in conference calls, meetings and training when required (including qualitative refreshers

    Peer Navigator

    • The Peer Navigators will be responsible for visiting clinics across Buffalo City Metropolitan on a daily basis to extract data from patient records, capture information into an electronic database, and conduct quality control checks on existing data. They will also liaise with clinic staff to ensure timely access to records and maintain data accuracy.

    Job Requirements

    • Grade 12 Certificate

    Peer Navigator - Phillipi Villlage

    • The main purpose of this position is to welcome adolescents to the health facility and to ensure smooth process of the study including recruitment, enrolling participants, basic data capturing and information sharing.

    Job Requirements

    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • Between the ages of 18 to 29 years
    • Data entry capturing experience
    • Communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Fluency in English and or Afrikaans and or IsiXhosa
    • Previous PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) experience

    Responsibilities:

    • Welcome adolescent patients to the health facility
    • Relate to adolescents in a friendly and non-judgmental manner
    • Guide the adolescents to where they can access services and help them feel comfortable
    • Assist with the folder – either get it from the records or assist with opening one
    • Register the adolescents on the biometric system (Broccoli) and conduct the health assessment for services needed. Conduct this while they wait to be seen by the nurses
    • Provide basic HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health Education to study participants about sexual health, combination HIV prevention, PrEP, STI’s, modern contraceptive methods, male and female condoms, gender-based violence. This can be done one-on-one or as a group
    • Assist as a communicator between patients and clinicians when required
    • Strive to improve clinic efficiency and reduce waiting times
    • Facilitate structured information sessions for the youth at the clinic
    • Assist study staff with storage of study material in the facility
    • Participate in staff meetings and appropriate training workshops as organized and required by the project
    • Maintain research participant confidentiality
    • Perform all activities according to Good Clinical Practice Standards
    • Work in a consistently ethical manner
    • Provide report back during weekly site meetings
