    Runner / Waiter

    Job Description

    • Faircape Restaurant and Catering, a division of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates across six prime locations in the Western Cape, delivering high-quality dining services to residents and patients in our onsite healthcare centres.
    • We are currently looking for a Runner/Waiter to join our team at Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs.
    • This role combines front-of-house service with operational support—you'll ensure residents and guests receive excellent service with professionalism and care, while also assisting behind the scenes by running supplies, supporting service flow, and setting up or rearranging furniture for events and functions to ensure venues are ready and well-presented.

    Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Supporting with moving and arranging furniture as needed for internal functions or events, ensuring spaces are prepared safely and promptly.
    • When no functions are scheduled, assisting as a runner/waiter—supporting service staff, kitchen, or bar with deliveries, clean-up, or restocking duties.
    • Changing table linen as required and ensuring dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
    • Cleaning and refilling cruet and condiment sets.
    • Setting tables to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
    • Ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met in assigned areas
    • Have thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend or explain options to residents.
    • Serving food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
    • Practicing excellent customer relations at all times, accommodating resident needs without inconveniencing other guests.
    • Handling customer complaints effectively and reporting all complaints to the manager.
    • Assisting with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, reporting variances or breakages to your manager.
    • Ensuring accurate billing of orders and reporting any errors to the manager.

    Experience and knowledge:

    • Excellent customer service skills

    Housekeeper-Onus

    Job Description

    • The Faircape Group operates 6 high end retirement/lifestyle villages in the Western Cape.
    • We are seeking a Housekeeper at our facility Onrus Manor, Hermanus to carry out various cleaning duties and to ensure our facility is in an orderly condition.
    • (*Please note candidates residing within Hermanus and surrounding areas will be given preference)

    Job duties include, but is not limited to the following:

    • Ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout all areas of the facility
    • Clean designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)
    • Perform and document routine inspection activities
    • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects upon request
    • Ensure all walkways remain clear and free of debris
    • Notify management of any repairs required
    • Mix and dispose of all cleaning solutions appropriately
    • Follow all health and safety regulations

    Experience and knowledge:

    • 3 years cleaning experience preferable
    • Excellent working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations
    • Knowledge regarding the proper use of cleaning/chemical agents
    • Attention to detail and good communication skills

    Working Hours and Salary:

    • You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month, Mondays to Sundays according to the roster. Shifts are from 07h00 until 19h00.
    • The salary will be dependable on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.
    • Please note, Sundays are remunerated at time and a half and public holidays are double. (Not included in the basic salary)

    Housekeeper

    Job Description

    • The Faircape Group constitutes a group of companies with interests in a number of activities including Healthcare, Retirement Holdings, Telecommunications and an ISP, Utility Management and infrastructure installation, Property Management and related activities.
    • We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Housekeeper to join our team at our centrally located Claremont office.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic and well-organized office environment.
    • This includes general and deep cleaning, lifting and moving supplies, running errands, and assisting with heavier manual tasks.

    Key Responsibilities

    Daily Cleaning Duties:

    • Dusting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming all office and common areas
    • Sanitising workstations, door handles, light switches, and communal surfaces
    • Cleaning kitchens, canteens and replenishing supplies
    • Emptying bins, cleaning fridges and microwaves, sanitising canteen tables

    Heavy Lifting & Manual Support:

    • Lifting and carrying cleaning supplies, bottled water, and bulk deliveries
    • Assisting with furniture moves and storage organisation
    • Receiving, unpacking, and storing supplies properly

    General Office Support:

    • Running errands, including collecting post from Postnet on certain days
    • Replenishing bird feeders and assisting with ad-hoc cleaning tasks
    • Supporting special cleaning projects and deep cleaning when requested

    Scheduled Cleaning Projects (Weekly & Monthly):

    • Window cleaning (internal/external), balcony cleaning, upholstery vacuuming
    • Cabinet sanitising and dusting hard-to-reach areas

    Requirements

    Education & Experience:

    • Matric (Grade 12) advantageous
    • Previous experience in a similar housekeeping or cleaning role

    Skills & Attributes:

    • Friendly, dependable, and able to work independently
    • Strong attention to detail and high hygiene standards
    • Knowledge of cleaning appliances and proper use of cleaning agents

    Specific Requirements

    • Physically fit and able to lift and carry moderate to heavy items
    • Clear credit record

    Working Hours

    • Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (45-minute lunch break)
