    Wind Yield Consultant - Cape Town

    The role
    We are now looking for strong candidates to support our continued growth and expansion in this exciting market. Responsibilities include:

    • Delivering wind resource assessment and yield assessments
    • Technical due diligence on wind projects for Investors, Lenders, IPPs and Developers
    • Providing technical engineering support on PV and wind projects at all stages of the project development cycle
      • meteorological data (masts, SoDAR, LiDAR)
      • Wind resource and energy yield analysis
      • Detailed wind turbine SCADA and operational performance analysis
      • Computational modelling
      • Research and development of new tools and solutions
      • Site inspections
      • Proposal and report writing
      • Quality assurance for wind yield and associated deliverables
      • Project risk management, including construction, operational, and financial risk
      • Reviewing and preparing technical and non-technical reports
      • People and project management, ensuring effective communication within the internal team and stakeholders
      • Contributing to business development activities i.e. development of new solutions, proposal writing and client presentations.

    Desirable qualifications & experience

    • Experience (<5 years) working in the large scale solar PV or wind sector across at least some of the role Analysis of
    • Project and/or people management experience
    • Experience with one or more of: WindPRO, Windographer, WindFarmer, WAsP, Openwind, Global Mapper
    • A Degree in Engineering / Physics / Maths / Meteorology / Oceanography or related subject would be desirable
    • Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
    • Experience of wind turbine performance analysis and detailed operational assessment
    • Familiarity with SoDAR and LiDAR and a track record of analysis would be an advantage
    • Programming skills in Python, VBA, Matlab, Fortran, C would be favoured

    Consultant - Energy Storage

    The role
    We are now looking for strong candidates to support our continued growth and expansion in this exciting market. Responsibilities include:

    • Delivering technical due diligence on large scale solar PV and wind projects for Investors, Lenders, IPPs and Developers
    • Monitoring and reporting on PV and wind projects through the construction and operational phases
    • Providing technical engineering support on PV and wind projects at all stages of the project development cycle
      • Reviewing of resource, technologies, structural studies, electrical design, contractual documentation, environmental studies, planning permission, health and safety reports, grid offers and grid connection agreements
      • EPC tender design, co-ordination, management, evaluation and review
      • Project risk management, including construction, operational, and financial risk
      • Reviewing and preparing technical and non-technical reports
      • People and project management, ensuring effective communication within the internal team and stakeholders
      • Contributing to business development activities i.e. development of new solutions, proposal writing and client presentations.

    Desirable qualifications & experience

    • Experience (>=2 years) working in energy storage projects
    • Hold a Bachelor in Engineering degree

    Desirable criteria

    • Project and/or people management experience
    • Proven experience in consulting/managing clients/service delivery, specific experience within the renewable energy sector preferable
    • Proven experience in stand-alone and hybrid energy storage systems and technology
    • Understanding of energy storage applications, revenue streams and current trends
    • Capability to model or simulate energy storage operations
    • Data analytics with relation to battery system testing and operation
    • Electrical energy storage technology, engineering and consultancy from residential to utility scale
    • Experience and/or contacts in in electricity policy and networks beneficial
    • Communicating and reporting on technical findings, summarising key results and impacts for non-technical audiences
    • A strong understanding of the technical, contractual and commercial potential for revenue streams applicable to energy storage systems

    Desirable criteria

    • Project and/or people management experience
    • Knowledge of the design, construction, operations and maintenance of electrical / mechanical PV system components
    • Understanding of project development economics and project finance
    • Related technologies experience e.g. distribution & transmission systems, rooftop systems, battery storage etc
    • Cross disciplinary knowledge, e.g. PV, wind, CSP, biomass, conventional combustion technologies
    • Prior experience with the South African and/or African renewables market.
