    Senior Marketing Manager

    About the role

    The Senior Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role in leading Rubicon’s marketing department and driving the strategic marketing efforts to achieve our company's business objectives. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Marketing and Communications this position is responsible for overseeing all marketing operations, including strategic planning, team leadership, data-driven decision-making, cross-departmental collaboration, creative direction, budget management, and market analysis. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strategic vision, creative innovation, and operational excellence, capable of both executing the current marketing strategy and shaping future growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic planning and execution: Collaborate closely with the GHMC to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies that align with Rubicon’s broader goals. Regularly review strategy effectiveness, making adjustments to optimize ROI.
    • Team leadership and development: Lead the marketing team with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, productivity, and innovation. Mentor team members, supporting their professional growth and ensuring high levels of team engagement and performance.
    • Data analysis and decision making: Utilize data and analytics to inform marketing decisions. Analyze performance metrics, market trends, and consumer insights to refine marketing strategies and improve outcomes.
    • Cross-departmental collaboration: Ensure marketing strategies are fully integrated with other business areas. Work in partnership with our commercial, product development, and after-sales service teams to create cohesive and impactful campaigns.
    • Creative direction and content oversight: Provide direction for the creation and execution of marketing campaigns and content, ensuring consistency with Rubicon’s brand voice and strategic goals. Oversee the creative process and guide the messaging across channels.
    • Budget management: Oversee the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively across projects to meet financial targets and maximize marketing impact.
    • Market Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor strategies. Apply insights to keep our marketing efforts innovative and competitive.
    • Vendor and stakeholder management: Manage relationships with external partners and stakeholders. Negotiate with vendors, oversee agency partnerships, and ensure alignment with strategic marketing objectives.
    • Continuous improvement: Advocate for and implement a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Encourage innovative thinking and experimentation with new marketing tactics and tools.
    • Reports directly to the Group Head of Marketing and Communications providing regular updates on marketing initiatives, performance metrics, and strategic opportunities.

    Reporting Relationship:

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
    • Significant experience in marketing with a proven track record in strategic planning, team leadership, and campaign execution.
    • Strong analytical skills for effective decision-making based on data.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration and team leadership.
    • Demonstrated ability in creative direction and brand strategy.
    • Proficiency in budget management and marketing analytics tools.
    • Adaptive to changing market trends and able to integrate new technologies and strategies into marketing plans.

    Field Application Engineer - Power Quality

    About the role

    This role will have a focus on Power Quality and will support on site audits and analysis feedback to the Power Quality and Engineering teams in supporting solutions development and proposals. The role will be focused on supporting business development in the region and possibly nationally is some cases.

    Responsibilities:

    • Site Power Quality and Energy audits
    • Placement and planning for power analyzer installation based on site dependent requirements
    • Attend to customer technical support requests (received electronically or telephonically)
    • Attend site in local, national, and potentially international locations to:
    • assist in commissioning new systems
    • assist in the diagnosis of faulty equipment
    • troubleshoot any other issues
    • Assist sales consultants with technical inquiries around Power solutions products and systems
    • Assist in system design
    • Assist in troubleshooting faulty equipment
    • Diagnose warranty claims
    • Regularly attend supplier training as designated
    • Present demonstration of technology at customer and with staff
    • Develop proof of concepts
    • Work closely with the other tech support staff around the country to:
    • Collaborate on improving systems
    • Help resolve issues in other areas where skills can be shared for the common good
    • Investigate and document potential serial issues
    • Meet regularly to discuss tech support issues
    • Document/record activities within the company CRM

    Role requirements are:

    • At  Minimum a NQF6/Btech/Beng equivalent plus one or more of the following:
    • Electrical qualification, wireman's licence highly advantageous
    • Technical support background and experience of at least 3-5 yrs in similar environment e.g. Industrial Technology, System Integrator, OEM & Factories, Power Quality industry etc.
    • Other relevant diploma (eg: Automation)
    • Experience with power quality analytics software (Eg. PQSapphire)
    • Driver's licence and own vehicle

    Key personal attributes:

    • Computer literacy – highly Computer literate and comfortable with basic technical aspects of common operating systems with Microsoft Office general excellence
    • Competent Professional business written and verbal communications skills. The ability to express yourself clearly and effectively within the company.
    • An ability to provide excellent customer service - Service focus by responding to Internal customers’ needs by doing it right the first time.
    • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills. Disciplined Approach by being Punctual, Strong Attendance Record, getting back to customers, suppliers, and internal staff, and returning calls.

    Product Engineer

    Key Performance Areas:

    Design and Development

    Write firmware for:

    • Microcontrollers (eg: STM / SAMD / PIC)
    • Communications controllers (eg: ESP32)
    • DSPs (eg: TMS320)
    • Write software for:
    • Single Board Computers (SBC) used in microgrid controllers

    Day to Day

    • Participate in and strongly contribute to sprints for the current workstream
    • Work closely with cloud developers to integrate devices into cloud ecosystems
    • Help to specify and design new software or firmware features
    • Write documentation for the products worked on
    • Design and perform tests for new hardware / software
    • Assist customers in 2nd level support tickets
    • Provide assistance to customers commissioning hardware

    Teamwork and Collaboration

    Work closely with the other development and tech support staff around the country to:

    • Continuously improve technical internal and external communication.
    • Provide support to resolve product issues.
    • Investigate and document potential serial issues.
    • Assist in product specification and development
    • Participate in regular standups
    • Continuously build and develop technical competency and skills.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Required:

    • Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering degree or advanced diploma or similar;
    • Solid general understanding of electronic hardware.

    2+ years’ experience in:

    • Product Development; and / or
    • Hardware development; and / or
    • Software / firmware development

    The following would all be advantageous in your application:

    • Comfort with firmware and general programming in Languages such as Python, C, C++, Rust, Go etc.
    • Design software and tools such as ALTIUM, Solid Works, Fusion 360 etc
    • Familiarity with dev tools such as GIT, Jira and Confluence
    • IoT development
    • Familiarity with ESP, SAMD, PIC, ATMEGA, STM or other related microcontrollers
    • Familiarity with DSPs such as TMS320
    • Another relevant diploma or degree (e.g., renewable energy)
    • Experience with industrial communications protocols and networks such as Modbus, RS485, Ethernet etc.
