    Practitioner Ore Transport

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • Level 2: Grade 10 and National Certificates level 2 Further Education and Training Certificate FETC Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology

    The Appointee should:

    • National N2 Certificate and a valid recognised Trade Certificate.
    • Engineering Supervisor Certificate will have to be obtained within 24 months
    • Minimum of 4 years appropriate experience related to logistics/transport management.
    • Experience in processing/metallurgy
    • Sound mining industry equipment, health and safety regulations and appropriate legislation knowledge.
    • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
    • Clear security screening record.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Additional Requirements:

    • NQF 4 (Grade 12 or equivalent)
    • Training in Logistics / Transportation Management will be advantageous)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ore Transport coordination Liaise with Ore Transport Superintendent on concentrate and ore requirements. Ensure Contractors fleet are available according to contractional requirements. Ensure that ore levels are reported daily. Ensure that contractors/Fleet/trucks are directed on where to load and where to transport ores as per the plan and prevent route deviation. Provide daily report of ore transported from shafts and stockpiles to the various concentrators. Manage and report Shaft silo levels. Supervision of Ore Transport shift controllers Administration of the MES weighbridge application Rotational Standby duties. Reliving Ore Transport Superintendent when needed Co-ordinate projects that might be dedicated to the department from time to time. Assist Protection Services with closing illegal underground entrances where needed. Safe co-ordination of contractor’s fleets during unrest situations Page 2 of 5 Continues communication with Protection Services during unrest situations on Ore Transport routes. Co-ordinate maintenance needs on buildings, areas and equipment dedicated to Ore Transport.
    • Concentrate Transportation control Ensure tankers are available according to contract requirements. Provide daily feedback on batches dispatched to the smelter.
    • Sustainability and Business Improvement Identify defects or delays. Recommend and participate in business improvement projects. Provide bi-weekly and quarterly reports and feedback on project progress. Assist in the implementation of breakthrough technologies. Understand the risks involved in community protest.
    • Stakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and crossfunctionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
    • Financial Management Assist with budget control. Assist in budget preparation associated with transport.

Ensure Contractors under Ore Transport comply with SHEC Standards Keep up to date with National Road Traffic Act requirements. Attend yearly National Road Traffic Act and Regulations workshop hosted by Alta Swanepoel and Associates. Assist in departmental incident investigations where needed.

    Superintendent Finance

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • At least 3 years’ relevant supervisory experience in a financial environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accounts Payable Prepare the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports as required for the business unit and coordinate the internal review authorisations for these documents. Manage queries from external auditors relating to responsibility area to enhance auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.     Winding Engine Driver SF

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • Level 4: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) and National Cert level 4 GET Certificate Services

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or Equivalent)
    • Valid Winding Engine Certificate issued by the DMR
    • Must have driven a winder in the last 2 years as an appointed WED
    • Onsetter’s Certificate
    • At least 1-2 years’ experience as a Winding Engine Driver on AC and DC Winders or proof of competency for newly qualified WED
    • Medical fit to work in the specific business area
    • Clear security screening record
    • Valid driver’s licence (if applicable)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Attendance & Competence Reliability Adhere to working schedules which include overtime and standby. Complete and pass assessments and medical screening as per schedules. Operational functionality Physically operate the winding engine to hoist and lower men, materials and ore in the shaft in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act chapter 16 and compliance to the SPG (Standards, Procedures and Guidelines) Performing non routine work on the winders with engineering teams I.E changing of conveyances, cutting front ends cutting back ends and shaft repairs. Identifying electrical and/or mechanical faults picked up during operation of winding plant and reporting to responsible artisans and foreman’s. Identify operational problems and emergencies and act in accordance with specified requirements within area of responsibility Operate winding engine both AC and DC winders Assume responsibility for logbook and the completion there of Be conversant with the Mine Health and Safety Act and any applicable Company or management instructions Reset automatic hoist when trip-outs occur to ensure a minimum delay in hoisting time Record conditions of winding engine daily and complete driver’s logbook as required List stoppages and callouts and reasons daily Perform other tasks as allocated by the supervisor with in his/her area of responsibility. Assist engineering team with all legal inspections required on the winding engine including dailies, weeklies, the engineer trips and shaft examinations
    • Legal Compliance Adhere to regulations and special instructions (site specific). Identification and reporting of non-compliance incidents. Identify hazards and take remedial measures to prevent accidents/ incidents in during winding operations. Use signals in an appropriate manner. Reporting & Administration Report all incidents and/or accidents pertaining to the winder and/or shaft to the responsible Section Engineer and foreman. Complete relevant documentation required. Liaise with Supervisors to confirm that all technical manuals and documents are up to date and stored in a Technical Library. Participate in new equipment specifications. To participate in on-site and company RCM development and review for primary production equipment. Determines, in conjunction with Supervisors, that all facilities and tools are adequate for basic maintenance tasks. Assist with any other additional ad-hoc engineering tasks/projects as required.
