    Driver: Port Mobile Equipment (FTH)

    Position Purpose

    • To load, transport and unload all cargo within MPT Richards Bay through the operation of the correct plant and Equipment in compliance with the applicable standard operating procedure in order to optimise the movement of cargo and reduce damages thereby increasing terminal profits.
    • Consideration will be given to applicants within the King Cetshwayo district.

    Position Outputs

    •  Perform daily task on allocated machine prior to commencement of work in order to ensure operational integrity of equipment.
    •  Complete daily task sheets, record equipment defects and advise supervisor of defects.
    •  Replenish fuel and fluid levels of equipment
    •  Operate allocated equipment in accordance with applicable standard operating procedure and monitor equipment performance during performance of the job.
    •  Operate Articulated vehicles, tractor/trailer, forklifts trucks, payloader and tip trucks
    •  Report accidents or incidents which occur during performance of duty
    •  Ensure correct equipment / attachments are utilised during the performance of duties and change equipment as required to handle changing commodities
    •  Perform end of shift task.

    Qualifications and Experience

    •  Matric/ NQF 4  Code 14 (EC License)  Certificate of competence for each machine operated (Dumper, Front End Loader or Payloader)  2 years relevant driving experience in Port Operations/Maritime Services/Warehouse Tally

    Port Worker (FTH)

    Position Purpose

    • The provision of labour as directed by supervisor in order to ensure a safe and clean working environment or optimised cargo operation.
    • Consideration will be given to applicants within the King Cetshwayo district.

    Position Outputs

    •  Cleaning of operational equipment (such as ship to shore cranes’ windows; cranes’ cabins; etc.)

    Second Engineer Officer

    Position Purpose

    • To be responsible and accountable for all aspects of vessel maintenance and operating of propulsion engines, other engines, deck machinery, refrigeration and sanitary equipment, aboard the vessel by coordinating and directing subordinates whilst complying with statutory laws, company policies and safety regulations, thereby ensuring maximum dredger availability.

    Position Outputs

    • Plan, compile and control annual lay-up maintenance to ensure that expenditure remains within the parameters set by the fleet department
    • Training and development of cadet engineers and ongoing training of certificated engineers to enhance marine engineering skills and practices
    • Liaise with and control external contractors to ensure that the maintenance and repairs are carried out within set time frames and conform to speculations
    • Liaise with maintenance manager to ensure that critical and other spares available timely in order to optimise utilisation and production of the vessel
    • Ensure international and local maritime laws and practices are conformed to thereby ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vessel and crew
    • Control the ordering of and optimal consumption of fuel and lubricating oils thereby optimising the utilisation of the vessel and minimise expenditure
    • Plan and control preventative maintenance systems to ensure problem free running of all machinery thereby minimising downtime
    • Practice loss control by regular inspections of machinery spaces to determine unsafe acts and correcting where necessary
    • Plan and organise the preparation of the vessel to proceed to sea ensuring that all safety measures regarding seaworthiness are intact

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Certificate of Competency as a Second Engineer Officer endorsed Chief Engineer (Port Operations) or Second Engineer  At least 1 to 3 years' experience working as a second engineer.

    Navis Support Specialist

    Position Purpose

    • Transnet SOC operates 9 of its Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) marine terminals and 9 of its Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) inland terminals using Navis N4 as its Terminal Operating System (TOS). End users of the TOS include internal employees and external customers from all over South Africa. The TOS is used in a 24/7 environment for planning and operational execution.
    • The TOS team is based at TPT’s Head Office in Durban and reports to the Service Delivery Manager: Navis.
    • The support scope includes Navis N4, SPARCS, and EDI. The primary responsibility of the Navis Support Specialist is to provide expert firstand second-line support to all internal ICT support personnel as well as internal and external end users.
    • This role includes all tasks related to TOS user access management.
    • The position's goal is to ensure that all end-user TOS related incidents are resolved as soon as possible in order to minimize downtime. It also strives to ensure that all service requests are handled efficiently. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring that the TOS is always operational.

    Position Outputs

    • AdministrationEnsure that all support-related tasks, such as incidents, service requests, and change requests,are recorded and managed through the service/help desk.Ensure that all TOS-related policies and procedures are followed, and that all administrativetasks are completed in accordance with related policies and procedures.Update support documentation on a regular basis to ensure it is current and up to date.Create and update a knowledge base for support staff and end users.
    • Support Participation in the entire life cycle of support issues, including call logging, preliminary investigation, recreation, testing, and liaison with stakeholders regarding fix delivery. Solve problems and troubleshoot errors. Test the process that has been reported as failing to function properly. Reproduce the reported issue. When necessary, raise a case with the software vendor. Follow up on case progress on a regular basis. Provide end-user feedback on questions.
    • Give end users a workaround for processes that don't work as expected. Provide advice and assistance in implementing workarounds and configuration changes to resolve system issues. Perform performance management tasks in accordance with the related procedure. Monitor the servers where the TOS is installed. Assist with and ensure the smooth transition of solutions from the implementation/optimization team to the support team. Implement system changes as needed in accordance with the change management procedure. Create end-user-friendly documentation that adheres to standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices. Ensure that all pertinent documentation is kept up to date. Manage and maintain TOS related content on the company website.
    • Maintenance In accordance with the relevant policy and procedures, perform server operating system updates on a timely basis. Perform timely application service restarts in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
    • Governance Where necessary, initiate and facilitate the change request procedure. Ensure that all records are stored in accordance with the applicable policy. Understand and strictly follow the approved Navis TOS Standard Operating Procedure, Navis Disaster Recovery Plan, and related policies and/or procedures.
    • Innovation Investigate new ways to improve the support function on a regular basis. Keep an eye out for “trending” business, operational, or customer issues. Suggest and implement solutions that will reduce or eliminate these occurrences. Maintain a customer-first mindset that is always looking for ways to improve the customer experience.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • National Diploma (NQF Level 6 or higher) in Information Technology or BTech, BCom or BSc in Information Technology.
    • 2 to 3 years of experience supporting a terminal operating system or enterprise information system.
    • ICT support experience.
