    Divisional Manager: Water Services

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a passionate individual to manage and develop the water services capabilities so we can deliver world-class services to our clients globally.  Our people are at the heart of our business, we are looking for someone who loves to develop, manage and get the best from their team.

    Job Requirements

    • Provide strategic growth and direction for the division.
    • Effectively manage and review projects using the organization’s methodology and principles ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and against our quality standards.
    • Act as a key accounts manager for designated clients through regular meetings, networking, and fulfilling a project sponsor role.  
    • Provide project reporting and analytics to relevant stakeholders on the division’s progress.
    • Effective financial management of the division’s operations, this includes budgeting, forecasting, analysis etc.
    • Effective people management this includes, development, recruitment, coaching and mentoring, succession planning and performance management.
    • Ensure implementation, effectiveness and relevance of quality management system for the division.
    • Grow our market share through upselling and cross selling the organization’s services to new and existing clients.
    • Build and maintain relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure implementation, effectiveness and relevance of quality management system for the division.
    • Management of workload schedules for the division thereby ensuring effective workforce planning can be undertaken. 
    • Research new technological and legal developments and trends and communicate this to relevant stakeholders.
    • Manage the development, growth and technical output of the groundwater, modelling, geophysics, geochemistry, and surface water units.
    • Provide specialist studies that integrate into the EIA process as well as standalone specialist products.

    Qualifications

    • A Post Graduate degree in Hydrogeology/ Water Science/ Hydrology or similar.
    • Management Development Programme (MDP) or similar qualification (beneficial).
    • Project Management Certificate (beneficial).
    • Registered with a professional body such as SACNASP.

    Work Experience

    • 10 years or more in the relevant field, preferably within consulting would be beneficial.
    • At least 10 years conducting specialist investigations.
    • At least five years exposure to the mining industry.
    • Five or more years’ management experience, as well as experience leading teams of 5+ staff.  Experience managing managers would be beneficial.

    Senior Mine Closure Consultant

    Job Description

    • We are looking for someone who will be a project manager of closure related projects, carry out mine closure cost assessments, develop mine closure strategies and mine closure plans. In addition to this the candidate will be required to perform day to day project management functions.

    Job Requirements

    • Calculate mine closure costs that are practical and satisfy regulatory requirements.
    • Provide a management framework for our clients to manage the closure costs.
    • Develop mine closure strategies, plans, policies and procedures.
    • Carry out peer reviews of mine closure strategies and closure costs and provide a technical report on the findings.
    • Develop and implement mine closure project plans, in consultation with client, to guide decommissioning and rehabilitation activities.
    • Develop future end land use plans.
    • Provide advice and guidance to the client in terms of the implementation of the mine closure plan;
    • Effectively carry out project administration on closure related projects using the organisation’s methodology and principles to ensure that the projects are delivered on time, within budget and against our quality standards;
    • Evaluate and monitor the mine closure and rehabilitation plans throughout the various stages of the mine life;
    • Build and maintain relationship with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Carry out field work required to support successful project execution; and;
    • Lead and guide junior staff members during project execution 

    Technical Requirements

    • Mine Closure Cost Calculations;
    • Physical rehabilitation techniques.
    • Land use planning.
    • GIS related experience (ArcGIS, QGIS, Model Maker, etc.).
    • Technical report writing skills.
    • Mine Closure strategies and plans.
    • Read and understand engineering designs and associated plans;
    • Strong understanding and practical implementation of applicable legislation and international mine closure guidelines or regulations; and
    • Mine closure audits and monitoring.

    Skills

    • Strong numerical ability.
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication skills (Both verbal and written);
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Strong customer-orientation.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience.
    • Excellent ability to manage one’s time and meet tight deadlines.
    • Willingness to travel internationally.
    • Project Management skills.
    • Ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
    • Ability to build and maintain a strong network of relationships.

    Work Experience

    • Eight or more years’ experience in a similar role;
    • Preferably experience within a consultancy environment;
    • Project management experience with regards to mine closure related projects; and
    • Previous experience working on international projects.

    Qualifications 

    • BSc. Engineering/Environmental Science or similar.
    • Experience with GIS/QGIS and Model Maker Systems would be beneficial.
    • Must be accredited with a professional body.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport; and
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
