    Reporting to the Managing Director, you lead, develop and oversee the entire store operations function and deliver on your key objectives which are to meet or exceed sales and profit targets and that your stores have engaged and enabled associates who provide our customers with a positive in-store experience.    

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Formulate, lead and measure the implementation of the Operations strategy for the business

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 with relevant tertiary qualification preferably majoring in Retail, Commerce, Finance or similar field
    • 7 years experience in a Senior Retail Store Operations leadership role  ( preferably leading the entire store operations function with experience leading an experienced team of  Area / Regional Managers)  
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Retail Value Chain, insights and trends
    • Strategic leadership and direction to a large team
    • Commercial acumen
    • Sound communication & negotiation skills to influence key business decisions.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Support store management in the daily operations of a store to ensure that the overall objectives, store targets, and customer service standards are met & exceeded.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Sales & Customer Experience Management:
    • Drive sales through the implementation of customer experience processes (through execution of business instruction letters, markdowns, repricing, promotions, customer experience plan, visual standards & customer feedback, etc.) to meet customer service standards and achieve sales targets. This includes new account/membership targets 
    • Team Management:
    • Assist in driving the team within a store to achieve store KPIs and operational strategy in line with company values. Provide ongoing coaching & mentoring to enable and up-skill store associates (e.g. product knowledge)
    • Stock Management:
    • Ensure that stock is accurately received & unpacked to merchandise and replenish the sales floor.
    • Monitor and manage stock levels through defined processes (stock counts, stock takes, stock loss action plans, etc.) to mitigate risks (stock loss) and ensure adequate stock on hand.
    • Oversee the general maintenance of the stockroom to meet housekeeping standards.
    • Risk Management:
    • Assist with compliance checks through defined processes (e.g. admin checks, store audits, visual audits, COMO (Continuous Monitoring) reports, POS (Point of Sales) reports, health & safety standards, weekly hanger counts, security, etc.) to ensure and enforce overall compliance to policies and procedures.                          

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Under supervision, develop store merchandise strategies for one or more departments through developing store plans that will deliver budgeted profit through ensuring the right stock is at the right place at the right time to maximize sales and to minimize mark down.         

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategy Development:

    • Under supervision, use insights from analysis of past store sales and develop merchandise store plans that equate to profitable sales for future seasons in order to maximize the business strategy across stores.

    Analysis / Forecasting:

    • Under supervision, with the Planner, analyse trade in the current season in order to identify opportunities to maximize sales across stores. Analyse sales of the current season stores in order to identify insights and opportunities for future forecasts as well as to react to current season in adjusting allocations and store plans to maximize profitability     

    Stock Management:

    • Under supervision, track the level of inventory compared to sales across stores, working to quickly to react to under and over performing stores, in order to minimize stock holding through considering, inter branch transfers, and changes to allocations.

    Cover Ratios & Service Levels:

    • Under supervision, track and manage store cover ratios within the Sub departments to ensure the correct cover ratios across stores to maximize allocation of stock. Review service levels to ensure correct stock level by size in all stores                                                                                                                                        

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Degree in Business, Supply Chain and/or Finance related.

    Experience:

    • 1+ Years’ experience as a Retail/ merchandise/product planner.
    • Experience using the JDA replenishment system.

    Your purpose
