    Senior Business (Data) Analyst

    What will you do?

    Santam BITS has a career opportunity for a Lead Business Analyst in the Digital environment with a key focus on Data analysis, calculating Digital value generation and Reporting. The digital assets include various portals and mobile apps. The person should preferably be based in Cape Town, but candidates from Gauteng will also be considered. 

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Understand and analyses data that tracks usage and trends in usage of different digital assets and features, resolve discrepancies and gaps in data and improve overall quality of data and reporting
    • Define data and analytics requirements for existing and new digital assets and features. 
    • Understand and define the potential scope of digital usage and value add for each digital asset and feature and measure that against manual processes or processes requiring human intervention
    • Compile monthly statistics and reporting. Continuously evolve and improve reporting capability. Build presentations and facilitate discussions regarding data, trends, value add, and other findings derived from data analysis
    • Ensure that Digital way of working and reporting align with existing data and reporting guidelines, tools and frameworks
    • Consult with business to identify business and data problems and opportunities 
    • Conceptualization, proposal of solution and business case development
    • Analyse and decompose relevant business processes and understand the change impact on business and end users and what is required to measure that impact
    • Ensure strategic and project objectives are met by validating that those requirements and solutions will deliver on the agreed objectives
    • Elicit, analyse, document and maintain business and data requirements and functional specifications or user stories for more than one project at a time which may be at different stages of the project and development lifecycles
    • Administration, planning and organizing of work to ensure successful and on time delivery
    • Participate in quality assurance, user acceptance testing as well as demos and training of new solutions and reports
    • Provide support and collaborate with business as well as the following BITS and Digital competencies, i.e., project management, digital adoption, change management, training, design, development, digital operations and testing
    • Comply with company policies and procedures, standards and methodologies, as well as use of selected tools supporting the methodologies used
    • Stay current on industry practices and trends in the short-term insurance, data analysis and reporting and digital environments and contribute innovative ideas for the use of technology, data, reporting and improvement of processes

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree related to commerce, analysis or information/technology systems e.g. B. Comm, B.Sc., B Tech or B.Eng
    • Relevant Tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma in Business analysis from an industry recognized training institution e.g. CBAP
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Business Analyst with relevant experience in Data analysis, defining data and analytics requirements and report writing 
    • Experience with 
    1. Writing project concepts and proposals, building business models and roadmaps, writing business requirements and user stories 
    2. Cost estimation, target setting, building business cases, defining benefits
    3. Requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, conducting demo’s and communication with stakeholders both internal and external, in business or technical terms, and at different levels of the organization
    4. Building presentations, creating visual representation of requirements, architecture or designs, creating wireframes and prototypes, provide input to and working with solution architecture
    5. Working with systems development lifecycle (SDLC), and agile methodologies in large complex projects incl. experience with agile scrum, scrum master role, sprint planning, managing product backlogs, writing user stories, running inception phases, agile reporting, etc.
    6. Liaising and collaborating with project resources e.g. project managers, developers, other business analysts, test analysts and change managers at different levels of the organization and across multiple teams 
    7. Understanding test methodology and providing support and input to test strategy, test plans, test cases and scenarios, user acceptance testing, setting up test data and test environments, review test results
    • Experience in the following areas will be advantageous
      1. Customer journey mapping, user impact analysis or use of process modeling methodologies and tools 
      2. Managing projects as well as project management techniques and methodologies
      3. Short term insurance or financial services industry 
      4. Digital environment 
      5. Visual representation of data, including interactive dashboards and the usage of Google analytics
      6. Defining standards, principles and new ways-of-working

    • Minimum of 3 years Short Term Insurance Underwriting and Sales Experience
    • Preferably at least 1 year quoting experience

    Infrastructure Manager


    The IT Infrastructure Manager required who possesses a sound understanding of servers and other IT technologies. Applicant must also be able to understand the organization's strategic direction and align it to technologies needed to achieve company goals.
