    Manager: Merits Motor Field

    PURPOSE

    • The purpose of the role will be to manage the team of Motor Merit Field Assessors responsible for investigation component of suspicious and potential fraudulent claims. Ensuring that all flagged and segmented Motor Claims are comprehensively investigated to achieve conclusive results and co-ordinating all claims investigation efforts and all other relevant stakeholders e.g. Forensic Services, Insurance Crime Bureau (SAICB).

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Manages and leads a team of Merit Claims Assessors
    • Ensure on-going development of resource by mentoring, guidance and both formal and informal training.
    • Ensuring effective management of high quality standards.
    • Reporting on effective management of claims.
    • Drive customer centricity in line with the Santam way.
    • Prioritise, allocate, manage and monitor investigation of high merit risk claims.
    • Effective merit claims investigation of appropriate quality.
    • Consultation with clients, Third parties, Business and Business Partners on a continuous basis.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • Degree in Legal or Forensic Qualification will be advantageous
    • Advanced knowledge of short term insurance industry
    • Relevant experience in the investigation of fraudulent claims
    • Management experience in a similar environment.

    What will you do?
    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • To ensure profitable growth through applying profitable underwriting principles.  Utilise available resources to improve or implement new underwriting practises on claimants.  He/she will get involved with referral underwriting decisions and has to be knowledgeable and experienced to provide Insurance Consultants and brokers with creative and innovative solutions

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Do Policy screenings and manage portfolios in accordance with company policy.

    Relationship Manager

    What will you do?

    • The candidate will understand premium and profit objectives through brokers by building relationships that will ensure growth and retention through creative and attentive marketing, underwriting and risk management strategies.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Manage allocated portfolio growth, retention, profitability and any other business relevant factors and agree growth plan
    • Work within a cluster and indirectly lead a team comprising of Service Consultants and Underwriters to deliver a service to the allocated portfolio of brokers
    • Reporting on performance against agreed targets
    • Identify and develop sales opportunities
    • Ensure a consistent and detailed understanding of the sales targets, goals, performance levels, products, business rules and conditions

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Matric or equivalent qualification
    • FAIS accreditation required
    • RE 5
    • Minimum 10 years’ Marine Insurance experience
    • Commercial Lines, particular to Marine Insurance
    • Experience in being on the road, dealing with and visiting brokers
    • A thorough understanding of all marine insurance products 
    • Leadership experience is essential

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Ability to understand client base related requirements and to conceptualise and develop relative support
    • Good understanding of value chain in order to implement cost savings and maximise profitability

    Underwriting Clerk

    What will you do?

    • A position has become available within Santam Marine for an Underwriting Clerk and will be based in the Moffet On Main Lifestyle Centre (201) Port Elizabeth.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Knowledge of Reinsurance 
    • Basic understanding of insurance industry including the reinsurance market and the terminologies used
    • Understanding of policy wordings, specifically related to your Line of Business
    • Able to evaluate information from a variety of sources and solve problems
    • Good decision-making skills; able to consider the costs and benefits of various options and recommend the appropriate one as part of the referral process
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable with phone and face to face complex discussions with underwriters, brokers and any other relevant stakeholders  
    • Deadline focused; able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and able to organise own workload effectively to prioritise and delegate to meet service standards
    • Competent user of Excel, Word, Outlook and other Microsoft platforms
    • Operationally efficient; able to follow all process requirements
