    New Product Development Manager - Centurion

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is on the lookout for an experienced New Product Development (NPD) Manager to join our Speciality Business Unit. The role will be based in Centurion and will report into the Customer Executive.
    • RCL Foods entrusts the New Product Development Manager to Manage Product Development at the RCL Foods Speciality Factories by driving the process of planning, coordinating and the implementation of new
    • product development, product quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives, while identifying new opportunities.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum 3 year’s NPD experience in product development and project management.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    New Product Development for Woolworths, QSR and Foodservice Customers:

    • Creating innovative new products from concept through to launch.
    • Customer focused with a strong understanding of customer requirements and processes.
    • Working closely with the Speciality development, technical and commercial departments to develop new and improved products.
    • Leading the development function to deliver new products to spec on time and at cost
    • Lead presentations on product ideas and attributes to major customers.
    • Generate and maintain accurate and timely documentation concerning the NPD critical paths and development process.
    • Manage the completion of product testing and verification, specifications and packaging/artwork signoff with the assistance of the departments.
    • Coordinate and drive multi-disciplinary teams (marketing, commercial, planning, production etc.) through idea generation, product development and product testing.
    • Coordinate all NPD meetings on new products and ensure all core and peripheral aspects have been considered and planned (e.g. packaging, equipment requirements, plant layout etc.).
    • Ensure products are developed to specification and that product quality and profitability remain high priorities. Post launch quality checks to be done on a regular basis with the Technical Department.
    • Drive ongoing collaboration with customer and marketing teams to identify a robust pipeline of new products.

    Customer Relationship Management:

    • Develop a deep understanding of customer product development, technical and quality assurance needs.
    • Engage regularly with customer (internal/external) regarding issues and requirements and provide feedback on how the business is meeting their requirements.
    • Act as an active Product Development Manager of RCL Foods at the customer and of the customer at RCL Foods.

    Technical and Quality Coordination:

    • Follow-up on the resolution of quality and technical issues raised by the customers.
    • Facilitate interventions using multi-disciplinary teams, where necessary, to address any non-compliance.

    Technical Expertise and Insight:

    • Expert knowledge of Product Development in the Prepared Food Industry.
    • Provide expertise in management team meetings to internal clients and colleagues and recommend solutions based on insights and findings.
    • Provide practical expertise and insights to external clients as part of regular engagement and ad hoc requests.

    Organisational Efficiency:

    • Optimise the development of all products with the available resources in the most cost effective manner

    Depot Controller - Talent Pipeline - Vryheid

    About the Role

    • As a Depot Controller, you will play a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for managing and maintaining the fleet and the transport team in the depot, thereby ensuring that productivity and performance are maximized. To control the inbound and outbound processes and stock handling in order to maintain efficiencies within the depot.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • A 3 year National Diploma in Logistics, Fleet and/or Warehouse/Depot management.
    • Valid Code EB drivers' license.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office).
    • SAP experience preferred.
    • A minimum of 3 years management experience in a similar environment.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
    • Previous experience managing warehousing, distribution, and stock control.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Inbound Control:

    • Control the inbound process by receiving products in good condition.
    • Manage the capturing of stock on the ERP system to ensure that goods are controlled and easily identified.
    • Monitor product shelf life in order to ensure the product has not expired, using the FIFO (first in, first out) system.

    Outbound Control:

    • Control the functions of outbound, ensuring products are dispatched out to customer.
    • Ensure that all orders leave the Depot correctly packed and damage free.
    • Ensure all invoicing has been completed accurately and correct where necessary.
    • Manage and facilitate the process of loading goods onto trucks and ensure all products are sealed for transport to customers.

    Customer Liaison:

    • Deal with issues around damaged stock or stock shortages.
    • Check that details on invoices coincide with those on the orders.
    • Notify customers should any transport incident have a likely impact on delivery.
    • Schedule customer deliveries according to the time window process.
    • Verify orders and liaise with customers on point of receiving, making use of the ERP System.

    Stock Control:

    • Ensure stock is in the right location through the management of daily cyclic counts.
    • Ensure staff are properly rotating stock (where it does not go to the pick face but to the back-up location).
    • Monitor production and expiry dates on all inbound and outbound products.
    • Track inbound/outbound damage trends, establish root causes and take the appropriate corrective action.
    • Ensure cyclic counts are conducted prior to stock takes.
    • Prepare for and initiate monthly stock takes, ensuring that the entire process is completed within specified time frames.
    • Management of Crates at the Depot.

    Depot Maintenance Management:

    • Manage and monitor the condition of the Depot ensuring that:
    • The Depot is kept clean.
    • Damaged goods are dealt with according to SoP.
    • Lighting is adequate, and doors open and close easily.
    • Areas in need of attention are reported to the Maintenance Manager.
    • All bin allocations are clear from any damaged pallets.
    • All forklifts are in good working conditions.

    Fleet Control:

    • Manage the daily schedule.
    • Check that a job card has been allocated to work and that the driver has managed to complete the form correctly.
    • Ensure that drivers complete the checklist every morning and afternoon to establish if there are any defaults.
    • Request complaints and difficulties for the day and take the appropriate action.

    Compliance Control:

    • Handle proxy responsibilities.
    • Ensure that all drivers have valid driver’s licences and PDP’s.
    • Ensure all staff members comply with health and safety requirements.
    • Investigate and report on all injuries on duty (IOD’s).
    • Implement safe working procedures.
    • Verify temperature for the entire Depot by analysing the temperature worksheet.
    • Certify that a new load always enters a clean and well-maintained vehicle highlighting the significance of quality.

    Security Control:

    • Investigate hijacking incidents to establish whether or not they are genuine cases.
    • Ensure that all stock leaves the Depot with proper documentation.
    • Ensure cameras are focused on risk areas such as entry and exit points and on staff activity/inactivity to ensure staff are appropriately utilised and productive.
    • Ensure that security staff check staff leaving for tea and lunch breaks.
    • Ensure all trucks leaving the Depot are sealed and recorded in a sealed register.
    • Check the seals on Depot doors on a daily basis.

    Team Supervision:

    • Train staff on the Standard Operating Procedures that serve to guide their approach to work.
    • Implement the Standard Operating Procedures through consistent application and communication.
    • Ensure that staff understand the procedures and sign off the relevant documents.
    • Conduct monthly meetings with staff in order to ascertain problems encountered and resolve associated issues.
    • Manage staff performance in order to establish opportunities for development and harness strengths.

    National SHERQ Co-ordinator - Westville

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is searching for a Lead Auditor in Food Safety to fill the role of a National SHERQ Coordinator and join the BSO Team at our Head Office in Westville. This role would report to the National QA Compliance Manager. The succesful candidate would need to have excellent technical knowledge pertaining to legislation and statutory requirements accompanied by remarkable experience.
    • The SHERQ Coordinator will be required to  maintain the CoE SHERQ Total Integrated Management System (FSSC 22000, ISO 45001, ISO 14 001 and ISO 9001) system and support Foods Division business units and Westville. 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in a FMCG environment with preferably 3 years in an auditing role
    • A tertiary qualification, minimum of a Diploma , Quality Management, Food Technology, Microbiology or Environmental Health
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 22 000, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001 and the ISO 45001 system development and implementation
