    Rigger (2 Years FTC) - Mining Maintenance - Underground Crushing & Conveying Lift II

     Key responsibilities will include:

    • Inspection of plant equipment.
    • Maintenance and inspection of all rigging and lifting and equipment of the plant.
    • Maintenance and repairs on conveying systems, structures, chutes 7 bins and pipes.
    • Ensuring spares availability.
    • Overseeing, assisting, and supporting maintenance jobs of all subordinate maintainers.
    • Planning, reviewing, and executing task as per planned and breakdown maintenance tasks.
    • Liaising with operational staff to plan and execute planned and breakdown maintenance tasks.
    • Conducting root cause analysis on equipment.
    • Assisting in the training and development of Apprentices.
    • Seeking and identifying business improvement initiatives.
    • Performing ad hoc duties as required.
    • Performing overtime and standby duties when required.

     Intrinsic Qualities: 

    • Good verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
    • Ability to work under pressure.

    Boilermaker (2 Years FTC) - Mining Maintenance – Underground Crushing & Conveying Lift II

     Key responsibilities will include:

    • Maintenance of the general steelworks of the plant.
    • Maintenance and repairs on conveying systems, structures, chutes, bins, and pipes.
    • Fabrication of walkways steelworks.
    • Fabrication of plant pipes systems.
    • Welding of fabricated structures.

    Artisan Lead Hand - Vermiculite Maintenance – Mobile Workshop

    Key responsibilities will include:    

    • Technical and administrative day-to-day support to Vermiculite Mobile Workshop Supervisor.
    • Mentoring Diesel Mechanics, Diagnosing, Troubleshooting, Repairing, Overhauling, and performing Preventative Maintenance on Heavy Mobile Equipment.
    • Conducting performance and quality checks on mobile equipment machinery in accordance with mobile maintenance strategy.
    • Creating, Promoting, executing a safe working culture.
    • Adherence to Palabora Copper SHEQ Programs and systems to all PMC employees and Contractors in the section.
    • Relieving Vermiculite Mobile Workshop Supervisor when required and perform standby duties.
    • Controlling consumables and order spares parts when needed.
    • Training team members in solving unusual mobile maintenance problems by analysis and troubleshooting.
    • Conducting root cause analysis and diagnoses of heavy mobile mechanical problems.
    • Assisting the team to verify and update SWP’s and HIRA’s.
    • Co-ordinating and maintaining 2.9.2 SHEQ system.
    • Encouraging employees, assessing, participating, and implementing positive improvement ideas and initiatives in line with the VIP program in the section.
    • Supporting Mobile Workshop Supervisor in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of the workshop team.
    • Executing duties as per the operations, department, and business needs cost effectively and efficiently.
    • Assisting the Mobile Workshop Supervisor on cost management and reduction.

     Qualifications & Experience:

    • Matric/N4.
    • Qualified artisan in Earth Moving Equipment Mechanic (Specializing in Heavy Equipment Mechanic).
    • Minimum of 8 year of experience in Earth Moving Mechanics with 5 years Specializing in Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
    • Strong and sound technical knowledge in hydraulics and electrical including fault finding.
    • Strong and sound working experience on multiple Front-End Loaders, hauled trucks, tracks, excavators, Graders, Dozer’s equipment operations of various size and weights from different OEM’s.
    • Trained and competent on Xentry software and operating tool for Machine defects diagnoses.
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • License to operate heavy equipment machinery.
    • Good understanding and exposure in mining maintenance environment.
    • Computer Literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, and Power Point.
    • Maintenance Management will be advantageous.
    • Supervisory training will be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of SAP System will be advantageous.

    Rigger - Mining Maintenance – Underground Maintenance Surface

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Carrying out maintenance work, fault finding on the Shafts, Winder ropes, external parts and all legal requirements.
    • Housekeeping in area of responsible section.
    • Responsible for personal safety, fellow workers and for reporting any safety incidents or accidents.
    • Training and coaching new Artisans and Apprentices.
    • Effectively completing administration duties e.g., work orders, spares requests, RCA (root cause analysis), etc.
    • Seeking out (i.e., proactive) improvement work to benefit the business.
    • Educating and familiarising oneself with the related drawings and functional and operational philosophies.
    • Doing proper daily routines and ensuring that the equipment and systems are operating to the highest level.
    • Responsible for first line calls (standby duties) on all mechanical failures related to specific fixed plant equipment.
    • Maintenance of all rigging and lifting facilities and equipment.
    • Operation and maintenance of Clamp Lifting Device (CLD).
    • Maintenance of shaft conveyances, attachments, elevators, and overhead cranes.
    • Removal and installation of head, tail and guide ropes on shafts and winders.
    • Ensuring that Cranes, Elevators and Winders are in good working condition and comply with legal requirements.
    • Making up slings and other lifting facilities and equipment.
    • Fault finding and problem solving.
    • Controlling maintenance spares and consumables
    • Navigation of Win CC systems (i.e. Winders SCADA and Underground).
    • Managing stock levels of spares in his area, Plan and manage own work.
    • Assisting Supervisor in compliance with planned maintenance system and legal compliance.
    • Ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards.

    • Must be adaptable to change.

     Qualifications & Experience:

    • Qualified Rigger Ropes-person
    • Valid First Aid certificate
    • Minimum of five years’ rigging ropes-person experience
    • Minimum of five years’ experience working on shafts and winders
    • Extensive knowledge on friction winches and winches in general
    • Extensive knowledge on shafts and winders especially on Koepe / Friction Winders
    • Knowledge of legal requirements with shafts and winders

    Fitter (2 Years FTC) - Mining Maintenance – Underground Crushing & Conveying Lift II

     Key responsibilities will include: 

    • Carrying-out inspection, maintenance, and repairs on all mechanical equipment on crushing and conveying systems including but not limited to overhead cranes, skip chutes, apron feeders, vibrating pan feeders, pumps, winches, fans, ventilation doors, water-tight doors, fire systems gears drives, hydraulic systems, distribution pipelines for water and air.
    • Ensuring spares availability.
    • Planning, reviewing, and executing tasks as per planned maintenance system.
    • Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
    • Liaising with operational staff to plan and execute planned and breakdown maintenance tasks.
