    Mining Foreman

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • NQF level 5 qualification
    • Blasting ticket for surface mines
    • 5+ years' mining operations or a similar operation.
    • Experience supervising and managing operations activities and staff.
    • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours, during emergencies and planned overtime.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

    Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):

    • Supervise and manage the performance of the mining operators, equipment and processes according to the operating plans and procedures.
    • Establish schedules and methods for providing mining services, maintaining and updating all operating and maintenance documentation and manuals.
    • Coordinate Grade control out at mine.
    • Good understanding of mining principles and planning.
    • Coordinate activities of third-party contractors to minimize disruption of mining processes.
    • Ensure health and safety legislation and contractual obligations are adhered to.
    • Ensure complete confidentiality of all information pertaining to the business of the company.

    Boilermaker

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Conduct routine, planned, and breakdown maintenance on crushers, screens,
    • conveyors, bins, chutes, hoppers, and other fixed plant equipment.
    • Identify and repair cracks, worn parts, and structural defects through welding, cutting, and fitting.
    • Install new plant sections, support frames, guards, handrails, and other mechanical components as needed.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards in workshops and work areas.
    • Maintain tools, welding equipment, and workshop machinery in good working order.
    • Work collaboratively with fitters, electricians, and plant operators to minimize downtime.

    Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):

    • Grade 12
    • Qualified Boilermaker (Red Seal Certificate).
    • Minimum 2–3 years post-trade experience, preferably in a quarry, mining, or heavy
    • industrial environment.
    • Understanding of mechanical systems on crushing and screening plants.
    • Write, understand, and communicate in English.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Must be prepared to work after hours when needed.
    • Will be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
    • Will be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
    • No criminal record.
    • Assisting in preparation for internal and external audits.

    Storeman

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Valid code 10 driver’s license
    • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in stores or warehouse environment within mining,
    • heavy engineering, or mechanical workshop
    • Communication skills both verbal and written
    • Able to work under pressure
    • Computer literacy: MS Package and Outlook
    • Must be willing to work shifts / standby / overtime if required during breakdowns

    Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):

    • Willing to also work as a driver to collect orders from different suppliers
    • Hazardous Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
    • Follow all Health and Safety rules
    • Experience handling mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and consumable parts for drill rigs / earthmoving equipment
    • Basic knowledge of HSE / MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) handling for hazardous materials.
    • Experience in issuing tracking tools and lubricants (oils, grease, filters, bolts, hoses, etc.).
    • Experience working with stocktake audits, GRVs, stock requisitions, and supplier returns.
    • Ensure the safekeeping of stock and diesel.
    • Ensure safe practices around all matters with the earth moving equipment and diesel

    Senior Diesel Mechanic

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Have an applicable trade certificate as a Diesel Mechanic
    • 5 years + experience as a Diesel Mechanic
    • Computer literate
    • Basic electrical knowledge (auto electrical)
    • Working knowledge of different tools
    • Ability to work on RSG, oil sampling as well as lubricating
    • Basic welding – Advantageous
    • Spray painting – Advantageous

    • Complete risk assessments
    • Good experience in hydraulics (fault finding as well as changing cylinders)
    • Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps

    Electrician

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Have an applicable trade certificate as an Electrician.
    • MV switching certificate.
    • 5 years + experience as an Electrician
    • Knowledge in fault finding, PLC instrumentation, high voltage, switching, earthmoving equipment, aggregate crushing and screening processes
    • Be able to interpret electrical drawings
    • Be prepared to work after hours and be on standby as and when required

    • Report on unsafe working procedures
    • Assisting with the training of handymen and learners
    • Devising and implementing electrical maintenance plans
    • Ability to utilize proper fault-finding techniques to complete work successfully
    • Maintain all electrical drawings

    GCC Engineer

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Mining GCC (Government Certificate of Competency)
    • Valid driver’s license

    Quarry Manager

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:

    • Grade 12
    • A technical/engineering qualification with Rock breaking certification would be advantageous.
    • Be competent and willing to fulfill the 2.13.2 Legal appointment under the MHSA.
    • 10 years’+ of operational mining/quarrying experience, with at least 5 years in a management position and a proven track record as a 3.1 (a) legal appointee.
    • Valid unendorsed RSA driver’s license
    • Good understanding of quarry planning, development and geology.
    • Thorough understanding plant efficiency requirements and upkeep of maintenance practices.
    • Sound knowledge of the MHSA, MPRDA, and other relevant South African legislation.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent project and financial management expertise.
    • High level of integrity and commitment to Safety; Health; and Compliance.
    • Proficiency in relevant mining software (e.g., MS Office, Mine Planning Software).
    • Must be medically fit
    • Experience working in a unionized environment
    • Must have the ability to work under pressure and be deadline driven.

    Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):

    • Fulfill the 3.1(a) Legal Appointment under the MHSA.
    • Oversee daily quarry operations including drilling, blasting, crushing, and haulage.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Develop and implement mine plans and production schedules.
    • Manage budgets, assets, resource allocation and cost control.
    • Lead and develop site teams, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., DMRE) and ensure legal compliance and participate in DMRE inspections on site
    • Participate in ASPASA and internal health and safety audits
    • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
    • Monitor and report on production metrics and site performance.
    • Maximise opportunities through innovation to increase Afrimat competitiveness in the market
    • Drive Afrimat’s continuous improvement plan
    • Assume full responsibility of both De Kop and Saldanha Quarry sites until the divesture of Saldanha is concluded
