Job Description

• Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, the Regional Marketer for Irrigation is a dynamic and driven team player responsible for:
• Driving sales growth across Irrigation departments located within the Douglas region. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and grow current targets and profit margins while building strong customer relationships.
• Overseeing inventory management, including merchandising and availability of the correct irrigation parts and accessories, and managing stock levels.
• Managing customer service initiatives including sales enquiries, quotations, pricing, technical advice, and after-sales service. This includes regular visits to clients and branches to provide tailored irrigation solutions with a focus on efficiency and sustainability.
• Building and maintaining strong product knowledge and relationships with suppliers and staff members, including upskilling and training of staff.
• Identifying market and product expansion opportunities and representing the company at events such as farmer’s days and industry-related gatherings to foster long-term relationships.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
• A National Diploma or Certificate in a relevant field will be an advantage
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, with specific preference to irrigation
• Computer literacy in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
• Additional training (e.g., SABI Irrigation Courses) will be beneficial
• Proven knowledge of irrigation equipment, products, and trends
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within a certain radius 
• Willingness to work extended hours when required
• Strong learning mindset and leadership qualities

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to clients regarding irrigation systems, pumps, and related solutions
• Deliver consistent, high-quality customer service—both in-branch and through regular client visits
• Develop and execute marketing strategies to increase revenue and meet client needs
• Monitor and manage inventory levels in line with seasonal demand and sales forecasts
• Ensure profit margins are met while aligning with group strategy and objectives
• Build and maintain a strong sales and service channel as a model of best practice

Job Description

• Reporting directly to the Irrigation Manager, the ideal candidate will play a key role in surveying land and designing efficient, solution-driven irrigation systems for a variety of clients. 

Requirements

• Education: Minimum Grade 12/NQF4.
• Degree or National Diploma in a relevant field is advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in a similar role, with specific focus on irrigation design.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Model Maker, IrriMaker, AutoCAD, and/or IrriCAD.
• Experienced in land surveying using CHC NAV / TRIMBLE.
• Advanced MS Excel and MS Office Suite knowledge.
• Professional Affiliations: SABI membership and SABI Irrigation training will serve as an advantage
• Additional Skills: Strong understanding of plant and soil science will be beneficial.
• Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed land surveys and design Centre pivots, micro, and drip irrigation systems. Specific attention to efficiency and solution focused details for new and existing irrigation systems
• Prepare comprehensive bills of quantities, designs, technical drawings, and client quotations. Develop professional proposals to present to clients with all the required details and pricing.
• Select suitable pumps, design pumphouses, and specify pipe systems.
• Present professional and solution-focused proposals to clients.
• Liaise with suppliers to source quality materials at competitive prices. 
• Consistently liaise with installation teams, farm managers and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth installation process
• Coordinate delivery and installation with suppliers, installation teams, and clients.
• The Irrigation designer will, in line with the general business strategy always seek opportunities to expand markets by attending farmers' days, trade shows, and industry events.

About the Role

What You’ll Be Doing

• Safeguarding the branch by verifying internal controls (inventory, claims, returns, shipments) and reconciling financial transactions.
• Ensuring compliance with VKB’s policies, legislation, and reporting standards.
• Conducting inventory surveys, addressing audit findings, and implementing risk-reduction plans.
• Supporting high administrative standards through inspections and monthly risk reporting.
• Providing guidance to retail staff to ensure excellent customer service and timely query resolution.
• Collaborating with internal departments (HR, Finance, Audit, Procurement) to build strong cross-functional relationships.
• Overseeing critical admin tasks: petty cash, bank reconciliations, vouchers, and stock claims.
• Mentoring and guiding team members to grow in their roles.

• Grade 12 or NQF4 qualification.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a similar administrative role.
• Experience in the agriculture industry will be an advantage.
• Computer literacy, especially MS Word & Excel.
