    IT Support Technician

    IT Support Technician

    The scope of the IT Support Technician responsibilities may vary. In some cases, the focus is solely on computer networks, in other cases, the focus can be on telecommunications systems and other electronic support systems related to the company operations.
    It will be advantageous that the applicant has a strong understanding and practical experience of cloud-based technologies.

    Responsibilities

    • Keeping a safe and clean working environment
    • Keeping server rooms safe, clean and up to standard
    • Logging and processing support calls
    • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
    • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
    • Setting up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in and solving password problems
    • Talking to clients and computer users to determine the nature of any problems they encounter
    • Responding to breakdowns
    • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
    • Repairing equipment and replacing parts
    • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
    • Maintaining records of software licences
    • Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies
    • Provide technical assistance with computer hardware and software
    • Resolve issues for staff via phone, remotely, and in person
    • Resolve technical issues in a timely manner using available resources within the company
    • Giving regular maintenance to existing hardware and computer systems
    • Writing reports on the status of all hardware and software in the company
    • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
       

    Education & Skills

    • Minimum 3 years working experience in IT support
    • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS) or related work experience
    • Knowledge of computer systems, cloud, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
    • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest IT and software trends
    • A+, N+ and Microsoft Qualification will be advantageous
