- BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering or similar. Professionally registered requirement with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) for Senior applications.
Renewable Energy Skills:

Transmission Skills:

As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support for feasibility studies, investigations, and project inputs, as well as answer technical queries and contribute to holistic solution designs. Your expert technical knowledge and integrated designs will play a crucial role in the successful and timely execution of projects. Your project input will include:
- Provide technical input for substation construction, refurbishment, and upgrades.
- Conduct electrical distribution studies and design HV/LV electrical power systems, control systems, SCADA, and telemetry.
- Offer support and training to junior staff and the wider team.
- Participate in or lead studies for project planning and contract documentation.
- Contribute to the development of sub-consultancy agreements.
- Attend client and multi-disciplinary meetings.
Is this role right for you?
- Electrical engineering tertiary qualification, Professional registration with ECSA (or other appropriate institution), or willing to pursue professional registration.
- Experience in a professional Electrical design engineering capacity either within a consulting environment or working closely with a consultancy, Understanding and experience of the SANS 10142-1, national and international standards
- Understanding and experience of producing and interpreting complex or detailed design drawings and documentation.
- Specialist knowledge: either developing or developed within at least one specialist area of Electrical engineering.
- Experience of working in roles where knowledge of Electrical engineering and in particular, design, was a key attribute.
- Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, Trimble etc. Competent with design software as well as other standard products.

- Due to continued business growth and increasing client demand in response to the urgent need to decarbonise the economies of South Africa and other African countries, Arup is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the delivery of energy projects.
- Supporting the further growth, development and service delivery of the energy consulting team, with a focus on multi-disciplinary aspects of our projects, but also business development and project management (leading our internal teams) on PV, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, energy transition and mini/micro- grid projects.
