    Lecturer- Simulation Laboratory Professional Officer (Re-advertisement)

    Requirements :

    • A Grade 12/ National Senior Certificate. A Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in terms of government notice R.425 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur.     Head Clinical Unit Radiology

    Requirements :

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus MMed (Rad D) or FC Rad Diagnostics (SA). Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Radiology with minimum of three (3) years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.

    Duties :

    • Provide leadership, management and Overall supervision of the Radiology discipline in the Hospital. Clinical and Imaging management of both in-patients (including Intensive Care and High Care) and out-patients. Ensure that there are protocols for the management of common medical conditions and that there is compliance to the protocols and guidelines.
    • Improving quality of services, safeguarding high standards of care and creating an environment in which excellence of care will flourish. Serve as the key liaison officer for the streamlining of referrals within the cluster. Be a key role player in the extension of the academic platform at Helen Joseph Provincial Tertiary Hospital.
    • Contribute to the functional transition of the unit from largely providing primary and secondary services to an increased proportion of tertiary services. Conduct or plan for operational (informal) research which will inform the planning of services to be responsive to the health needs of the community.
    • Assist in the identification of areas for formal research to ensure that all research conducted by external stakeholders will be beneficial to the institution and the community at large. Deliver the quality of diagnostic radiology expected in a Tertiary hospital. Supervise and advise Medical Officers and Radiographers, Manage own PMDS and that of subordinates.
    • Evaluate patient’s medical history to ensure that radiologic studies will not cause unnecessary harm to the patients. Communicate radiological tests and their diagnosis to patient’s physician through written report or verbally. The incumbent will manage human, financial, assets and material resources in the Department.

    Medical Specialist Grade 1, 2 AND 3

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualifications with proof of current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Forensic Pathology and/or Anatomical Pathology.
    • This is a consultant position on the JOINT STAFF ESTABLISHMENT of the Gauteng Forensic Pathology Service (Southern Cluster) and the Department of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, University of the Witwatersrand.
    • Experience: OSD Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist.
    • OSD Grade 2: minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist.

    • Valid (Code E/B) driver’s license; Willingness to perform duties outside of normal hours and away from base of employment when required, including overnight and weekend calls, with availability at the relevant Facility / scene within 30 - 45 minutes of the call being logged

    • Provision of the full spectrum of forensic pathology and medico-legal death investigation services at consultant level, including death scene attendances, forensic post mortem examinations, ancillary investigations, compilation of relevant reports and Court attendance
    • Performance of after-hour services during the day and night in the week and over weekends; Participation in the scientific identification process of unknown decedents, inclusive of but not limited to relevant consultation processes
    • Assisting with teaching and training programs related to under- and postgraduate students, as well as Forensic Pathology Service personnel and other participating stakeholders

    Medical Specialist - Urology

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist Urologist and proof of current registration required. Must have a recognised full qualification and registration as a Specialist Urologist, FCUrol (SA).

    Duties :
