    Senior Technician: Instruments Maintenance (Hay Level 15/C4)

    Key Performance Areas:

    Adhere to calibration/ maintenance plans that has to assist in transforming NLS into a profitable and sustainable business entity.

    • Develop and coordinate Schedule Maintenance and Calibration actions for each year
    • Ensure that plans are adhered to by completing tasks on time and hand over facilities to labs on time.
    • Respond to logged calls by supported labs within 48 hours.
    • Execute proactive procurement to ensure that all required spares are available on time.

    Product and Service Development Contribute 

    • Participate in research and development as well as implementation of the new laboratories, instrumentation, equipment, machinery, monitors and utilities when required.
    • Perform activities stipulated in the project schedule for the implementation of new products and services.

    Comply with protocols of the laboratory regarding internal and external communications to maintain established service level agreements

    • Update the Section head or team leader weekly in terms of status of work performed (maintenance or calibrations as per plan) including status of equipment or instruments downtime.
    • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of a proper lab asset management system that adheres to the international best practice such as ISO 55001.
    • Establish good relationships with suppliers to obtain quotes on time, follow up quotes and orders regularly and adhere to SCM procedures.

    Adhere to internal laboratory requirements to improve level of efficiency in business operations in order to produce highest number of quality products and services following responsible business practices.

    • Perform and document maintenance/ calibrations actions in compliance to all applicable instructions and procedures by adhering to the requirements of the quality system and OEM in the laboratory such as QM, Procedures and SANAS requirements.
    • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety aspects.  Ensure that safety and housekeeping are maintained to the required standard as required and fulfil the role of BBS observer and perform observations as contracted.
    • Assist section head with the review or updating information for development and implementation of calibration methods and spreadsheets on the new digital/analog monitors when requested.
    • Adhere to actions identified to close out NCR’s.
    • Develop and manage an equipment / asset register to demonstrate the age of all equipment and their replacement plan especially for the labs responsible.

    Assist the laboratory to maintain a robust and efficient by acquiring more knowledge through continuous development.

    • Adhere to the individual training matrix/plans to ensure that new knowledge is acquired.
    • Attend identified courses to increase knowledge required in the laboratory.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Diploma/ Degree: Electrical Engineering or Analytical Instrumentation, or Industrial Physics or equivalent
    • 5-10 or more years’ experience in development, manufacturing, maintenance and repair preferably on analytical instruments.
    • 4 years practical experience of Microsoft Excel and MS Word.
    • Trained in SANAS ISO/IEC 17025 Systems.
    • Registered Radiation & Chemical Worker.

    Administrative Officer (Hay Level 11/B4) ( 2 Posts)

    Key Performance Areas:

    Administrative duties

    • Compile routine quotations for samples/instruments as requested by CTS line management/supervisor and ensure that all quotes are correct and reported clearly before issuing. Issue quotations to customers for the indicated categories of customer requests.
    • Process invoices daily from completion of job/ tasks reports for Internal/External cost recovery and send for CTS management ratification.
    • Prepare weekly spreadsheets of job registered, invoicing done against lab reports received and complaints received from customers.
    • Responsible for initiating workflows for ordering stationery, procurement (workflow internal and external) for CTS and ensure compliance with Necsa financial policies and procedures. Maintain and update the asset register for all CTS assets.
    • Purchase list spreadsheet and initiate purchase orders workflows and filing. Purchase orders details timeously captured on Purchase List spreadsh
    • Administer and liaise with customers pertaining completion of customer/suppliers' registration, customer queries, purchase orders and payments details timeously captured on provided forms and spreadsheets.
    • Assemble assigned customer orders and place product and records in specific storage/designated areas including filling of customers services records.
    • Occasional delivery of laboratory and office items to destinations between different departmental facilities and to other businesses on demand basis (e.g. collection of contractual customers items)
    • Assist with transportation of customer instruments and collection of completed job cards for invoicing purposes.
    • Occasional collection and receiving of procured items from Receiving Depot, consumables and stationery from Y-M store as well as delivering and collecting laundry at P2400 on occasional basis as directed.
    • Registration of potential customers on CRM system and send to CRM section head/or designate for review and acceptance, before sending to customer for upfront payments and submission of jobs.
    • Packaging of goods for dispatch and inventory items (including office records to the archiving centre), inspect/ prepare and operate a delivery vehicle and its cleanliness.

    OHS, QMS & Compliance Aspects

    • Undertake all prescribed statutory and competence training.
    • Conduct BBS activities (observer and observed) as contracted by section head.

    Human Capital

    • Ensure annual personal performance contracting and evaluations are completed timeously.
    • Keep his/her professional certification / SHEQ requirements (e.g. Chemical worker) up to date.
    • Participate in Recognition of Prior Learning programme.
    • Complete documents for write-off or relocation of assets.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • National Diploma in Administration or Accounting.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in Laboratory administration/support.
    • Practical experience of Microsoft Excel.
    • Driver license would be an added advantage.
