    General Assistant - Gamsberg

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics

    Advantageous Requirements

    • Preferable - Code B or EC Licence
    • Preferable Competent A & Blasting assistant certificate (MQA)

    Experience

    • 1 year experience in blasting / mining environment.
    • 1 year blasting assistant experience.

    Duties

    • Risk assessment and Safe work declarations to be done with the blaster at the place of work before entering workplace as per client requirements.
    • Assist MMU with charging up blasting holes and filling up MMU with products
    • Assisting the blaster for preparing the blast / charge-up area by meeting all the statutory, legal, client and BME requirements/standards/prescriptions
    • Together with the Blaster, inspects the site to determine the target block and to plan the blasting process
    • Marks off the working area by erecting the prescribed barricading material as prescribed by the client
    • Required to map the holes to ensure that all the required holes correctly placed
    • Required to measure and check the depth of the holes, and to ensure that they are all correctly drilled within the prescribed parameters
    • In the event of detecting any deviations from prescriptions, responsible for behaving assertively and taking the necessary steps to rectify matters, e.g., by interacting and communicating to mine staff, drill contractor or the Foreman
    • On instruction from the Blaster, required to collect the correct accessories to carry out the blasting assignment successfully
    • Responsible to place all detonators and boosters at the collar of the hole to prepare for priming of the blast holes as per the blast plan issued by the mine.
    • Responsible for priming the holes by carefully inserting detonators into boosters, attaching weigh-down material to the primer, and lower this primer in the hole under the supervision of the blaster.
    • Any additional ad hoc duties must be completed within the specified timeframe.

    Welder

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12
    • Professional Welding Certificate

    Experience

    • 3 years demonstrated working experience as a Welder
    • 2 years demonstrated working experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
    • Proven experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, callipers etc.)

    Duties

    Manufacture tanks and structures

    • Ensure the section edges fit properly and bolt or weld them together. Test it for leaks and weak spots
    • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

    Regulate appropriate welding equipment 

    • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
    • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

    Adhere to SHERQ principles

    • Use the correct PPE 
    • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

    Material productivity

    • Regular inspection and maintenance of tanks and structures

    Assistant Process Controller: Emulsifier

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Forklift license

    Experience

    • 2 year demonstrated hands on experience in a production environment
    • 1 year demonstrated experience in a production plant
    • 1 year demonstrated experience in explosives production

    Duties

    • Assist with the emulsifier and raw material batch preparation
    • Fulfil stand-in duty for the process controller during meal breaks and while on leave
    • Must be competent in the monitoring and shut down of the system during upset conditions
    • Must be competent in controlling the emulsifier making and batch preparation process via the PLC/HMI
    • Stand-in as leave cover
    • Must be able to fulfil the duties of the emulsifier/ISA Loading and general housekeeping
    • Perform quality control testing of raw materials and products
    • Continue to perform duties of a forklift driver
    • May be required to assist with product loading at INNOVEX plant
