    Assistant Maintenance: Electrical & Mechanical

    Purpose:

    • To assist Artisans and Technicians to support machine availability with minimum downtime by effectively addressing emergencies, breakdowns and scheduled services.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To assist Artisans and Technicians in executing all maintenance activities to the required standard.
    • To ensure resources, tools and equipment are available to perform preventative maintenance effectively as instructed by the Artisans and Technicians.
    • To perform housekeeping duties for the workshop and other working areas.
    • To comply with SHEQ legislation, internal policies and procedures.
    • To complete small projects as identified and under the supervision of a qualified person.
    • To actively identify and report potential hazards in order to mitigate risks.
    • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental regulations are adhered to in line with the legal requirements for both SABN employees and contractors.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Matric with Math’s & Science or N3 Mechanical / Electrical (Essential)
    • Forklift license (Added advantage)
    • 1-year experience in a technical environment

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Basic Mechanical / Electrical Engineering principles.
    • Basic SHE Practices.
    • Basic Maintenance procedures and processes.
    • Basic Mechanical / Electrical skills.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Fault finding skills.
    • Communication skills (verbal, written).

    Operator Vault

    Purpose:

    • To control and monitor operations of the vaults, maintain a safe environment which will enable efficient control of securitised product and ensure that stock items are secured, under control, and accounted for at all times.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To ensure that product buffers are managed and vaults are balanced after each shift.
    • To ensure that the product is accounted for at all times and the product is secured
    • To ensure that the vault layout is done in such a manner to support efficient product flow and to apply the first-in-first-out stock control principle.
    • To comply with all Health and Safety Regulations
    • To ensure that that the relevant departments have the required stock at all times

    The preferred candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12 with Math's or Accounting (Essential)
    • Certificate/Diploma in Supply chain and Logistics, stock control / Bulk teller training such as commercial bank Cash Handling or Security Experience Desirable
    • 2-3 years warehousing experience or bulk cash handling. Experience in a production environment will be an added advantage.

    Operator: Cutting

    Purpose:

    • To operate cutting machines and produce high quality banknotes in accordance with customer specifications and aligned to the South African Bank Note Company (SABN) standards.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • Cutting & packing products as per set performance targets and in full compliance with quality specifications
    • Perform denomination settings, quality checks through measuring of notes against set specifications.
    • Ensure that machines are operated according to Standard Operating Procedures
    • Minimise wastage in every activity within set targets.
    • Perform autonomous maintenance tasks as per the schedule, and report any defective performance to the Section Head
    • Operate the machine in adherence to SHE regulations and legislation.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement.
    • Ensure that machines are counting accurately under dual control.
    • Report any balancing issues to the Section Head immediately.
    • Ensure correct entry of data into DCLink

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12
    • N4 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
    • 1-2 years’ experience within a printing industry or in a similar operational role

    Assistance Maintenance: Electrical

    Purpose:

    • The purpose of this role is to assist artisans and technicians to ensure optimal availability of plant and equipment by minimizing downtime through the effective execution of preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • To assist artisans and technicians in executing all maintenance activities to the required standard.
    • To ensure resources, tools and equipment are available to perform preventative maintenance effectively as instructed by the Artisans and Technicians.
    • To perform housekeeping duties for the workshop and other working areas.
    • To complete small projects as identified and under the supervision of a qualified person.
    • To actively identify and report potential hazards in order to mitigate risks.
    • Perform repairs on equipment and components in line with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and best workmanship practices to restore normal operation.
    • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
    • Contribute to root cause analysis in conjunction with Artisans and Technicians by providing accurate information, offering recommendations, and implementing corrective actions.
    • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures by identifying and mitigating hazards related to assigned tasks, and escalating those that cannot be resolved immediately.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12.
    • Electrical Trade Test Certificate.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Maintenance Electrical.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Understanding of basic electrical troubleshooting, including fault-finding and component replacement.
    • Basic understanding of electrical components such as PLCs, VSDs, Motors and etc.
    • Ability to work with hands to remove and fit components in machinery under guidance of artisan or technician.
    • Hands-on experience with workshop tools and machinery (e.g., grinders, drill press,pipe benders).

    Officer Product Surveillance

    Purpose:

    • The purpose of this role is to conduct surveillance on securitized products produced by the South African Bank Note Company (SABN)

    Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

    • Effectively execute Product Surveillance work activities, which includes CCTV observation, floor roaming and facility searching, all within the red zone.
    • Ensure that body and facility search is conducted according to policies, procedures & searching protocol.
    • To gather product surveillance data and compile daily reports for management information.
    • Identify risks for assessment and reporting.
    • Comply with policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
    • Support investigations in relation to product surveillance occurrences.
    • Perform ad-hoc duties as and when required.

    The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

    • Grade 12.
    • Grade C PSIRA Security Registration.
    • 1-2 years relevant experience

    • Product surveillance (CCTV observation, floor roaming/Patrolling and searching).
