    Junior Mechanical Engineer

    • You will be working as Junior Mechanical Engineer and will be the part of Process Automation business area for Process Industries division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Sean Martin and will be responsible to design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements

    Your responsibilities

    • Evaluating selects and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments, providing technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities and preparing project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables
    • Assisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.)
    • Supporting contract managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.), providing quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivering within budget and contract and ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks
    • Creating work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility and ensuring quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost, improving effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions
    • Completing risk and opportunity assessments and ensuring implementation of resulting actions in one’s area of responsibility, reporting any contract / quality / program / cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution
    • Assisting customers on technical issues, interacting with official contacts, contractors and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables and assisting communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings
    • Collaborating with the supply chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers, providing technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepting as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services
    • Using standard processes and tools applicable to one’s area of responsibility, ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements, reporting processes and tools inefficiencies and suggesting improvement ideas
    • Assigning tasks to and coordinating work with entry level engineers, technicians, administrative staff

    • Winder brake hydraulics design experience a benefit
    • SolidWorks experience a benefit
    • 3D and finite element skills are a benefit

    Local Product Group Controller

    • You will be working as Local Product Group Controller and will be the part of Electrification business area for Distribution Solutions division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Local Division Controller and will be responsible to provide key support to the business, ensuring accurate tracking and processing of all transactions, you will translate business strategy into plans and establish measurable targets, evaluate the financial implications of various strategic decisions, identify risks and recommend actions and will interact with Global stakeholders

    Your responsibilities

    • Overseeing the business planning and forecasting process for the LPG’s within the ELDS Division, establishing cost structures tracking and optimization ensuring to understand cost inflow, track and analyze variances
    • Determine the causes of the deviation between target and actual values, propose and coordinate measures for cost reductions, closely monitoring cash flow and taking relevant actions to improve net working capital
    • Ensuring compliance with internal guidelines/procedures and external regulatory requirements, performing financial analysis, reporting to business managers and making suggestions to improve performance, where appropriate
    • Establishing and overseeing processes and tools to obtain transparent and reliable financial data and business information, running a smooth and efficient sales order review process in order to provide accurate inputs into order back log periodization and rolling forecast
    • Ensure accurate and timely month end reporting for the LPG’s, ensuring timely and efficient communication with relevant Controllers, the Accounting Center and others to identify and discuss issues, and suggest improvements
    • Collaborate with the Global Business Services to ensure smooth and processes, assist with ad hoc reporting requests and manages personal performance in line with assigned KPIs
    • Assist with internal and external audit requirements, participates in internal control testing and prepare relevant documentation (including the supply of evidence on Audit requests)

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/ Accounting or equivalent
    • Minimum 5 years financial accounting experience, 3 – 5 years in financial controlling
    • Strong MS excel skills, strong SAP experience
    • Deadline driven and ability to work with team and independently, strong interpersonal skills, works well independently and in a team
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-management capability, strong business acumen, good organization and coordination skills, process orientated and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem solving ability
    • Fluency in both English languages is mandatory

    Finance Specialist - AFS

    • You will be working as Finance Specialist – AFS, reporting to GBS Finance Front Office Manager for Process Automation business area, based in Modderfontein, South Africa. You will be responsible for reviewing of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for all statutory entities within the prescribed timelines.

    Your responsibilities

    • Preparing and reviewing of annual financial statements for all reporting entities and calculations and workbooks supporting notes to the financial statements
    • Maintaining statutory trial balance at a separate and consolidated level for the ABB South Africa entities and ABB Holdings group
    • Managing and processing of the financial statements in draft works. Reconciliating tax schedules to the tax disclosure in the notes to the separate and consolidated financial statements
    • Understanding and managing all audit adjustments for statutory purposes and ensure supporting schedules are maintained and clearly referenced
    • Ensuring compliance with all International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in preparing financial statements and related disclosures that are accurate and complete
    • Working closely with finance colleagues and executive team to complete the annual financial statements to a high standard in line with best practice

    Your background

    • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate in accounting
    • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a similar role – financial statement preparation
    • Experience in statutory financial statement software, preferably Draft works or CaseWare
    • Extensive experience in producing statutory financial statements (stand alone and consolidated)
    • Working knowledge of the SAP ERP system
    • Maintaining effective performance under pressure and able to work extended hours to meet deadlines when required
