    Associate - Corporate

    The Role:

    • The successful incumbent must have 2 years plus PQE and must come from a reputable law firm.

    Salary is negotiable based on experience.

    • The practice covers a broad range of corporate and regulatory matters with a focus on the financial services industry. The Corporate team regularly assists clients on structuring, negotiating and documenting complex corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliance structures, complex insurance and reinsurance contracts, profit share arrangements, transactions involving insurtech and parametric/indexed products, new insurance and reinsurance products and portfolio transfers.
    • In addition, it advises clients on all aspects of financial service regulation in South Africa, including licensing of insurers, reinsurers, branches of foreign reinsurers, cell captive insurers and microinsurers, intermediary licensing and regulation and compliance with data protection laws.
    • The Corporate practice's experience also includes various types of commercial transactions, such as commercial contracts (supply, distribution, agency, licensing, services, binder, intermediary and outsourcing agreements) and technology-related agreements.

    Clyde & Co has an opportunity in Johannesburg for a Coverage Disputes attorney with 4+ years of experience. We are looking for a bright, ambitious, highly motivated lawyer, with experience in complex insurance coverage disputes matters and with experience from a reputable law firm.

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our award-winning regional construction team based in South Africa. The firm's renowned construction dispute resolution ability means that we are well-equipped to handle litigation and transactional work with ease. Most of the projects are on a large scale and have a high profile within the local and international construction market.

    Responsibilities

    • Managing a caseload of mainly contentious construction matters
    • Assisting Partners with advisory work during project construction phase
    • Drafting and assisting with the negotiating a wide variety of building/ engineering contracts
    • Providing advice on warranties, guarantees and appointment documentation
    • Assisting Partners in delegation of work to and supervision of juniors in team
    • Working closely with clients and continually developing the aptitude to foster long term client relationships

    Requirements

    • Strong academic background and training from a recognised international firm/practice
    • At least 4 - 5 year's construction experience gained at a reputable law firm with a strong reputation in the field of construction litigation.

    • Regional experience with a focus on SA matters is necessary
    • Proven track record in taking a lead role in complex and high ZAR value litigation.
    • A real interest in marketing/business development and the ability to foster long term relationships

    Associate Solicitor – Fraud, Motor, EL/PL – Dublin Office

    The Role

    The role will be focused on handling cases arising from a combination of Fraud, Motor, EL/PL claims.

    We are interested in hearing from lawyers who come from a background of personal injury litigation and ideally with emphasis on Fraud, Motor and EL/PL experience .

    A similar background in a defendant law firm would be ideal, with a high standard of verbal and numerical reasoning and the ability to analyse, evaluate and communication information logically is key - together with proficient IT skills.

    The role will involve:

    • Running a case load of files in a manner compliant with our service level agreements with insurers.
    • Assisting in the defence of Fraud, Motor and EL/PL claims.
    • Communicating with clients effectively and complying with deadlines and clients' reporting requirements.
