In this job, you will:

• Under supervision, support delivery of customs and trade compliance processes and activities to optimize service and cost performance for customs clearance
• Provide administrative support for import/ export documentation such as receiving, reconciling, consolidating/ summarizing documents and information
• Perform data capturing activities, feed data into customs operating system and set up master data for transactions
• Conduct pre-alert screenings of paperwork, update documentation/ standard operating procedures and support in documentation archiving processes
• Execute filing of customs entries and post-entry work/ transactions
• Update and maintain customer part lists
• Track performance targets, update shipment information and physical status
• Research duty, tax and billing issues/ discrepancies raised by internal and external customers
• Undertake best practices and quality audits to ensure adherence to set quality, accuracy and timeliness of activities
• Gather and collate data to draft reports and updates for performance monitoring to support other team members
• Achieve compliance with established regulations and ensure proper usage of customs processes and policies
• Resolve recurring issues faced during delivery as per defined processes, systems and methods
• Research, identify and obtain the permits, licenses, and certificates required for customs clearance and general customs formalities
• Advice customers on legal (e.g. trade compliance - shipments to sanctioned countries) and customs topics
• Contact customs authorities
• Assist with customs inspections of excise goods when necessary to ensure compliance with all relevant laws.
• Ensure that excise goods are not released until the appropriate duties are paid or deferred in compliance with regulations.

• Provide timely and effective administrative support to the transport and distribution unit or department
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in working order through a comprehensive program
• Collect/ deliver shipments within specified time by planning routes, liaising with external departments, timely communications, etc.
• Liaise with import/ export departments in anticipation of changes, make relevant changes and communicate adjustments to relevant stakeholders
• Undertake proper loading/ unloading of the loading unit/ loading security
• Report loading/ unloading activities at customer end through appropriate tools scanning application, phones, etc.
• Record information into database or computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records
• Retrieve stored information, place orders or respond to enquiries such as inventory levels or delivery schedules
• Follow and achieve compliance with established procedures and ensure proper usage of operations processes and policies
• Resolve recurring issues faced during delivery as per defined processes, systems and methods
• Support team members with less experience in different/ difficult situations

Key Tasks

Customers

• Identify and develop potential, sustainable customer relationships
• Respond to customer enquiries / complaints
• Lead in engagements and strategic customer interfaces with Key Account Contacts
• Provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, Country organization and activities
• Support and co-ordinate the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and programmes
• Facilitate and support country’s efforts in maintaining healthy relationships with trade bodies and government agencies & authorities, including being an active subscriber or participant of global research agencies
• Establish KPI’s and obtain agreement & commitment from Country management

Stakeholders

• Carrier contract/relationship and performance management
• Interact with commercial team (at country level) in terms of pricing
• Defines, implements, monitors and enforces service and quality standards, in cooperation with product management (in Regional Office)
• Responsible for EBIT result at country/country group level AFR.

Process

• Defines, monitors and enforces targets to the operational units
• Select and assigns key positions to reach targets
• Analyses costs and cost structure of production on country/country group level, and derives improvement measurements and actions
• Responsible for constant improvement and optimization of production means (cost management), e.g. make or buy.
• Defines and implements Airfreight ISO standards in line with corporate instructions
• Responsible for operational management, Production sites, Traffic management, technical support (buying, capacity etc.), Local purchasing on country/country group level for AFR according to corporate policy
• Proposes IT needs
• Responsible for Preferred Carrier adherence
• Responsible for Operational KPI’s

People management
