    Restaurant Intern - Nederburg

    Purpose of the Position:

    • The intention of the internship is to provide practical work experience to students who are in their final year of study and require exposure to the work environment or have a prerequisite to have practical work experience in order to obtain a qualification. Successful interns will be expected to enter into a 12-month contract. 

    Key Performance areas include, but are not limited to the following: 

    • Active involvement in the management of all aspects of the Nederburg Tasting Room guest experiences, conferences and restaurant operations, with a great focus on service excellence
    • Conduct tastings, serve guests in the restaurant environment, host, supervise staff 
    •  Assist the Operations Manager in the implementation of functions and events
    • Support management through active involvement in the development of new revenue streams to optimize profit
    • Active involvement in the promotion and sales of destination offerings, experiences, and products
    • Drive database, newsletter and taste learn and discover sign ups
    • Implementation of the Integrated Brandhome consumer engagement plan
    • Implement activation strategies to achieve consumer engagement and create memorable experiences 
    • Drive efficiencies and maintain operational excellence
    • Ensure effective stock take and cash handling and minimizing losses and enforce procedures and systems
    • Responsible for Consumer and Corporate VIP satisfaction with the Brand Home experience
    • The successful implementation of special VIP visits and events
    • Conducting informative wine tastings
    •  Assist to reach awareness, sales, and visitor scores
    •  Active involvement in daily banking and cash floats
    • General administration, procurement, budgeting, ordering of supplies and maintaining minimum stock on hand levels

    To qualify for selection and participation in this programme, candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

    • Final year of obtaining tertiary qualification – degree / diploma;(Hotel management, restaurant, Sommelier, food and beverage management student)
    • Computer literacy – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Sound communication and presentation skills

    Process and Utilities Engineer - Wadeville

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Drive Utilities Efficiencies and reliability across site.
    • Provide Technical and process support to Cellar Operations
    • Ensuring compliance to environmental, health, safety and risk management standards.
    • Ensure that world class asset care and maintenance principles are introduced and adhered to (efficient asset utilization).
    • Compile, manage and control maintenance budget including capex
    • Maintain effective control of all project funding requests (i.e. abnormal maintenance and capital) Manage performance and people development within the department.
    • Managing maintenance projects and feasibility studies.
    • Plan utilities availability and planned shutdowns and assist with compiling short and long term equipment replacement plan
    • Develop and Management of quality systems (ISO 9001/2000) in responsibility area.
    • Ensure compliance to OHSACT and all Distell Risk, Health and Safety procedures, including statutory requirements Ensure crew complies and adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, work instruction and SOPs
    • Develop and implement annual departmental business plans and assist in site’s business plan. Innovation and business improvements in support of operational goals.
    • Ensure maintenance plans for equipment is current and drive ICC compliance Problem solving and technical guidance of the maintenance teams
    • Ensure that plant maintenance standards are met and RCM principles are applied Management and co-ordination of an efficient maintenance function throughout the plant Improve Plant uptime, optimise utilization and efficiency of plant resources. Drive sustainability agenda across site.(Water, Electricity, Energy, Effluent, CO2,etc.)
    • Manage multi-disciplinary projects from inception until final commissioning
    • Conduct all the required risk assessments and Hazop processes in compliance with Distell Requirements Develop project schedules to ensure projects are closely managed
    • Lead the process of projects FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and PAT (Performance Acceptance Test) Ensure that staff is trained and signed off on operation of new equipment
    • Develop project close out to ensure snags are closed and project formally handed over to the site. Managing and maintaining site facilities and infrastructure.
       

    The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

    • At least 3 years experience in an Engineering environment.
    • At least 2 years experience in managing general utilities i.e. water, gas, refrigeration plant, compressors, waste water. At least 2 years relevant maintenance and project management experience, preferably in a beverage or fast moving consumables goods environment,with a proven track record of managing a maintenance team of Artisans/Foreman(including budget control)
    • Good working knowledge of plant items in light industrial applications (i.e. coal boilers, steam systems, cooling
    • towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, waste water treatment plants, water filtration (UF/RO), valves, pumps, piping systems, heat exchangers, electrical systems, instrumentation and civil work etc.)
    • Project management experience, preferably in a beverage- or related production environment. Computer literacy (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, SAPR3/ PM, etc.)
    • A willingness to work outside of normal working hours, when required People management, performance management and leadership skills
    • Sound written and verbal communication skills at various levels of employees. A self-starter with high levels of energy and motivation
    • The successful candidate must be innovative and drive best practices.
    • Relevant and recognized tertiary qualification BSc degree, B. Tech degree
    • A Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) is compulsory

    Inventory Clerk (Wadeville)

    Purpose of the Position

    • The effective management of inventory received, stored, and despatched to ensure OTIF delivery of quality products and achievement of financial imperatives as well as act as the custodian of the Warehouse Management System at a site level. 
       

    Key performance areas include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensure the cost-effective inventory management of all goods
    • Check depot days of cover daily and communicate with Planning if required
    • Report all stock outs to depot, sales and Planning as well as liaise with planning to resolve any stock issues
    • Plan correct storage location for products in liaison with Logistics Manager/ Inventory Clerk (ABC Analysis)
    • Plan and create Physical Inventory Documents for monthly stock counts as well as reduce write-offs and losses to a minimum
    • Ensure optimal stock availability and stock rotation
    • Help enable superior customer service as measured by On Time In Full (OTIF)
    • Maintain the highest possible level of customer service, while effectively ensuring that all customer complaints are dealt with swiftly and efficiently
    • Ensure strict adherence to corporate governance in terms of stock movement and documentation in accordance with the ICC and Audit controls, Quality Control and inspections
    • Ensure that Risk audits and Quality control audits are conducted at the branch
    • Understanding, implementation and adherence to internal control measures such as ICC, ISO requirements and Operations Excellence 
    • Ensure quality control checks on receipt of stock and before despatch of stock
    • Ensure FEFO principle is applied to stock movements by printing bin pulling sheets for warehouse
    • Knowledge of adherence to stock age policy, ensure that all concessions are raised and approved
    • Knowledge of adherence to product recall policy
    • Monitor outer packaging quality
    • Administer the execution of the product recall process at site level
    • Perform all administration and reporting effectively
    • Ability to accurately conduct daily and monthly physical inventory counts. This includes conducting stock counts according to the company standards and procedures as well as ensuring that handheld devices used in the stock process are set up correctly and maintained accordingly
    • Ensure that system and site preparation is completed in order to enable effective stock counts
    • Ability to generate and action pre-stock take reports. Ensure that all stock adjustments prior to starting stock take are processed, including sorted containers. 
    • Ensure that physical stock count is uploaded on SAP. A stock variance report needs to be generated and all variances need to be investigated via route cause analysis. All authorised unresolved variances per stock count need to be posted. Stock count needs to be generated and stored on SAP with the relevant postings and audit reports. Ad hoc stock counts are also to be conducted for unresolved variances. 
    • Ensure the daily compilation of stock packs and have packs approved by the relevant parties
    • Ensure that the route settlement corrections have been processed correctly 
    • Responsible for the updating of relevant Key Performance Indicator Boards
    • Ensure that stock write offs and variances are actively managed. This includes the management of Stock Age
    • Ensure that all post goods issues have been processed for all deliveries and driver corrections
    • Responsible for the reconciliation of invoices to shipments and deliveries daily
    • Ensure that no deliveries have been issues without shipments. All proof of delivery notes need to be checked and accounted for. All invoice queries need to be corrected and resolved. 
    • Daily load plans and distribution gate registers need to be checked and filed. All inter depot movement notes need to be checked against inter depot gate registers and filled too.
    • Responsible for the follow up of all inter depot in transit shipments if not received. All claims need to be logged in accordance to the claim procedure. All inter depot movements need to be confirmed with despatching sites on a monthly basis. 
    • Ensure that missing, broken and foreign surveys are conducted according to policy, and captured daily. All missing, foreign and broken must be communicated for follow up with the customers. Responsible for charging the depots / drivers / 3PL’s for the shortages. 
    • Responsible for the financial controls of ensuring that the stock postings are posted to the correct accounts, variance commentary is to be compiled and submitted to management with trend analysis. All high risk incidents with respect to losses stemming from damage, theft and quality write offs need to be highlighted and reported. 
    • Ensure that Operational Costs cents per litre cost is contained through continual investigation and improvement of asset utilisation
    • Identify training and development needs in order to assist with succession planning. Ensure that all on the job training takes place withing departments. This should be captured into training needs to ensure the sustainability and continuation of the training. On the job coaching and mentoring should be provided in order to ensure continuous improvement. 
    • Ensure that all Employees are conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures
    • Improve business processes to ensure achievements of Business Objectives 
    • Ensure that personnel reflect the company image 

    The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

    • Matric Certificate
    • Relevant 1 – 2 year Diploma, Degree or qualification in Logistics / Supply Chain
    • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience in FMCG Logistics / Distribution Environment
    • Computer literacy in MS Office, SAP and SuccessFactors
    • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and sound presentation skills
    • The ability to work after hours and / or shifts if necessary.
