    BIM Coordinator - (BIM-L5.18)

    Role overview

    • Zutari is seeking an experienced BIM Coordinator to work closely with and coordinate the digital delivery team of the Zutari Water team in Tshwane. Zutari’s Water Market consists of four key disciplines namely Dams & Hydropower, Bulk Water, Treatment and Water Resources.
    • The BIM Coordinator will work closely with Modellers, Drafters, Technicians and Technologists to establish sound digital practices and develop workflows, in-house design tools and good practice guidelines to ensure the successful delivery of our digital offering on projects.  

    Role responsibilities

    • Overall accountable for the successful implementation of BIM processes and standards on all projects delivered by the Water business unit.
    • Organise and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve.
    • interface issues and maintain consistent Level of Information Need (LOIN)
    • Establish project BIM coordination & collaboration strategy via workflow diagrams.
    • Initiate and maintain cadence of model federation with all project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
    • Work closely with the BIM Manager and/or discipline leads to apply innovation by leading the development of new tools within existing software and investigate the use of other software to complement or replace existing software to increase productivity.
    • Support the BIM Manager and/or discipline leads in developing in-house digital tools such as scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive models and processes.
    • Capture improvements to or expansion of the Zutari baseline content library and feed back into data platform and content templates.
    • Develop suitable training material for the water unit on the software applications and processes.
    • Assess all Modellers and Drafters digital skills and develop a training plan for each individual.
    • Provide training for Modellers and Drafters on the software packages and processes.
    • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical disciplines
    • Work closely with Technicians, Technologists, and Engineers.
    • Develop Revit families, 3D part libraries and standard details.
    • Interpret engineering design sketches and drawings.
    • Interpret as-built drawings of brownfields infrastructure.
    • Managing and checking the quality of deliverables, specifically models and 2D drawings.
    • Maintain digital models and project records in accordance with Zutari’s quality management system.
    • Evaluate and test BIM technologies/workflows as required by the project and ISO19650.
    • Collaborate with the IT team/BIM Manager/discipline leads to address technical challenges in relation to BIM software and collaboration platforms at start of and during project.

    Minimum requirements

    • Excellent communicator with minimum of 7 years’ experience in BIM coordinator and use of 3D modelling software
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 19650 and BS EN 17412
    • Skilled in Autodesk (Revit, C3D, P3D, Navisworks, Inventor, ACC) and/or Bentley suite.
    • Minimum qualifications: Diploma/ Certificate in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or 3D digital design or higher
    • Tertiary level qualification in mechanical or civil engineering would be an advantage.
    • Previous experience in the water industry (bulk conveyance, pump stations, treatment plants, dams, and hydropower) would be an advantage.
    • Structural design and steel detailing experience would be an added advantage.
    • A willingness to learn and investigate technological systems.
    • A strong interest in working on innovative and complex projects.
    • Project management experience / BIM, engineering, architecture, or construction management degree would be advantageous.

    Software: 

    • Revit – highly skilled
    • BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud – highly skilled
    • Civil3D - intermediate
    • Autodesk Inventor – will be an advantage.
    • ProjectWise – will be an advantage.

    Process Engineer - (ENG-L5.187)

    Role overview

    • In this position you will be part of our Process and Mechanical Engineering team, contributing to exciting projects across South Africa and throughout Africa. This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with other engineering disciplines – including control and instrumentation, electrical, civil, and structural – on multi-disciplinary projects within the oil & gas (petrochemical) and mining sectors.

    Role responsibilities

    • Process scope definition and technology selection via the compilation of a Process Design Basis and Criteria.
    • Compilation of process flow diagrams along with associated mass and energy balance calculations, piping and instrumentation diagrams and all associated design activities or process deliverables.
    • Specification of process attributes for equipment through the compilation of process datasheets (or process input to general datasheets), and instrumentation by compilation of instrument datasheets which also includes control, on/off and safety valves by compilation of valve datasheets.
    • Compilation of process description, control philosophy, process line lists, equipment lists, instrumentation schedules, valve schedules (control, on/off and safety).
    • Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure designs conform to process requirements and find appropriate process solutions to meet needs of each design discipline.
    • Performing technical reports writing on specific projects relating to Manufacturing, Oil and Gas (Petrochemical), Water and Wastewater Treatment and Biogas.
    • Be proactive and able to talk to clients and canvass for work.
    • Participate in tendering for new work including proposal write-up, costing and schedules.  
    • Work independently and interact well within a group. Be able to plan, manage and deliver projects as part of a larger engineering team.

    Minimum requirements

    • BEng, BSc, MEng, or MSc in Chemical Engineering and 3-4+ years’ experience with a minimum of 1 years in project management or project engineering.
    • Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA to start or be in progress.
    • Familiar with commonly used process engineering standards and codes including but not limited to API, NFPA, ASME, GPS as well as commonly used process engineering software.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).
    • Working knowledge of Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys and hydraulic simulation software (e.g. Flownex).
    • Prior experience in the petrochemical industry, with some additional experience in gas (LNG/CNG/LPG), manufacturing & mining (including practical experience) would be a bonus.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.
    • Experience in typical process engineering safety analyses, e.g. HAZOP workshops, HAC analysis, etc.

    Associate Civil Engineer - (ENG-L8.70)

    Role responsibilities

    Lead complex infrastructure systems designs which includes:

    • Utilities
    • Bulk earthworks
    • Roads
    • Industrial structures
    • Drive the delivery of 3D modelling as well as multidisciplinary structural and utility infrastructure coordination on projects.
    • Oversee the production of other key project deliverables such as technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation. 
    • Be responsible for line management which include tasks such as performance management, workload management, task delegation and team mentoring.
    • Support business development activities and assist in preparing and coordinating tenders/bids and contribute to winning work initiatives.

    Experience required

    Minimum requirements

    • B Sc/B Eng. Degree or B Tech in Civil Engineering. 
    • Pr Eng or Pr Tech registered with ECSA with 5 years’ post-registration  
    • Minimum of 10 years overall design experience.
    • Strong design experience and demonstrated history of leading design teams. 
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit and/or Bentley or and associated discipline specific design software.

    Senior Process Engineer - (ENG-L7.110)

    Role overview

    Role responsibilities

    • Development of process systems, scope of work, design criteria, man hour estimates, and schedules for projects.
    • Make technical decisions, direct the activities of other process personnel on the project, coordinate design efforts with all other groups on the job, and maintain the process records for the project.
    • They report progress and ensure compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
    • Ensure that the content and objective of the Health, Safety, Security and the Environmental and Quality Policy and the Information Security policies are implemented by self and all supervised staff.
    • Keep informed, by all possible means of technology developments in the process industry and make recommendations to Zutari on methods improving our competitive position.
    • Be accountable for the best-in-class execution of all FEED, EPCM, PMC projects by the Process Engineering Department to meet the budget, schedule, quality, Health, Safety, Security and the Environmental requirements of the projects from a process standpoint.
    • Manage self and junior engineers in terms of delivery, resource management, technical training, and performance management.
    • Ensure the execution risks on projects are understood and execution reviews and audits are undertaken to mitigate these risks.
    • Provide and promote input to the Strategic Development Group in Zutari for developing the best-in-class practices and tools for project execution.
    • Establish, develop, and sustain relationships with all Clients (internal/external).
    • Provide specialized process design on single or multiple projects from conception through FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and troubleshooting. 
    • Resolve complex troubleshooting, design optimisation, and perform engineering studies.
    • Develop energy and material balances, process simulations, process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, process data sheets, equipment sizing, hydraulic pipeline sizing, and technical calculations.
    • Conducts technical assessment with licensors, vendors, and engineering contractors to provide the optimum design.
    • Conduct/follow peer check and squad check procedures for technical deliverables.
    • When leading a process design team, assign work tasks to other process engineers. 
    • Hold client and vendors meetings. Hold intra-discipline and attend cross discipline coordination meetings.
    • Performing technical report writing on specific projects relating to petrochemical, manufacturing and resources.

    Engineering Manager - (ENG-L8.72)

    Role responsibilities

    • The Senior Engineering Manager is accountable for engineering leadership and governance across multi-discipline projects in the Resources sector, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, high-quality engineering solutions across feasibility, FEED, detailed design and execution phases. This role leads engineering teams, provides technical assurance, and partners with Project Managers and Market leadership to deliver projects profitably and in line with Zutari standards.

    Engineering leadership & governance

    • Provide overall engineering management for complex projects in mining, petrochemical, oil & gas infrastructure, including multi-discipline integration.
    • Establish and manage the project engineering execution framework (deliverables, workflows, approvals, document control, engineering change, and design assurance).
    • Ensure compliance with relevant client specifications, Zutari standards, statutory requirements and industry codes.
    • Lead engineering risk management: identify, mitigate and manage engineering risks, hazards, constructability and operability considerations.

    Project delivery and performance

    • Accountable for engineering scope delivery against programme, budget, quality and safety targets, coordinating across disciplines and stakeholders.
    • Plan and resource engineering activities, including allocation of discipline leads and specialist capability.
    • Provide input into project schedules, cost forecasts, progress reporting and change management.
    • Support project commercial performance through effective scope definition, variation management support, and technical input to contract strategy where required.

    Technical assurance and quality

    • Ensure engineering outputs meet performance, safety, operability and maintainability expectations.
    • Establish design review and verification processes: HAZOP / HAZID facilitation support, model reviews, design audits, value engineering and lessons learned.
    • Review and sign off key technical deliverables and ensure appropriate technical delegation.

    Client and stakeholder engagement

    • Serve as the engineering interface to the client, EPC/EPCM partners, contractors and third parties.
    • Build strong relationships with client engineering teams and support stakeholder confidence through credible technical leadership.
    • Participate in technical presentations, design reviews, and steering committee/governance meetings.

    • Lead and mentor engineers and discipline leads; contribute to performance management and development planning.

    Minimum requirements

    Qualifications

    • BEng / BSc (Engineering) in a relevant discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgical, or similar).
    • Professional registration (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng or equivalent)
    • Postgraduate qualification (MEng / MBA / MSc) advantageous.

    Experience

    • 20+ years engineering experience with significant exposure to mining and/or oil & gas / petrochemical / energy infrastructure projects.
    • 15+ years in engineering management, engineering lead, discipline management, or project engineering leadership on multi-discipline projects.
    • Experience across project phases including pre-feasibility / feasibility, FEED, detailed design and execution support.
    • Demonstrated leadership in coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams and managing technical interfaces.
    • Proven experience delivering within a consulting, EPCM, or owner’s engineering environment.

    Technical and regulatory

    • Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, QA systems, safety practices, and statutory compliance relevant to Resources sector projects.
    • Familiarity with engineering design assurance processes such as design reviews, hazard studies (HAZID/HAZOP), and technical risk management.
