    Local Client Manager - Airfreight

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Business Development:

    • Identify and prospect for potential clients in South Africa for airfreight. This involves conducting market research, attending industry events, leveraging personal networks, and using various sales techniques to generate leads and new business opportunities.

    Pipeline Management:

    • Proactively build a robust sales pipeline by identifying and engaging potential clients within designated areas within Maersk.

    Sales Presentations and Proposals:

    • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and quotations to prospective clients, highlighting Maersk’s services, capabilities, and value proposition. Tailor presentations to address specific client needs and highlight competitive advantages. Negotiate pricing and contractual terms to secure new business.

    Collaboration with Internal Teams:

    • Work closely with internal teams, such as operations, pricing, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of services and meet client expectations. Collaborate with the operations team to develop tailored logistics solutions for clients and provide accurate information on shipment status, timelines, and delivery updates.

    Market Analysis and Reporting:

    • Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and industry developments, providing insights and recommendations to the management team. Generate regular reports on sales activities, pipeline, and revenue forecasts, ensuring accurate tracking of sales performance.

    Customer Relationship Management (CRM):

    • Utilize CRM systems to manage and track sales activities, maintain client profiles, document interactions, and generate reports. Ensure timely and accurate data entry to facilitate effective sales management and reporting.

    Sales Targets and Performance:

    • Meet and exceed sales targets and objectives set by the company. Regularly review sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to achieve sales growth and profitability.

    Continuous Learning and Skill Development:

    • Stay updated on industry best practices and logistics trends. Participate in training programs, workshops, and conference.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    Someone with:

    • Relevant Bachelor and/or master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years' sales experience in airfreight
    • Proven sales track record of successful business development within Logistics or Supply Chain
    • Trade lane experience EU and NAM to South Africa
    • High degree of work flexibility and willingness to travel
    • Outstanding interpersonal competencies and cultural sensitivity
    • Ability to drive business success through virtual teams
    • Strong business acumen and result-focused business approach
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
    • Focus on business development along with strong “selling” ability
    • Positive and convincing attitude and an empathetic, motivating personality
    • Strategic and conceptual thinking with good problem-solving skills
    • Ability to handle/manage conflicts with internal and external parties
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across cultures and geographies
    • Good command of the English language (verbal/written)
    • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license essential

    Area Operations Continuous Improvement Manager

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Analyze the Area Delivery business processes and make suggestions on how to improve them with tangible outcomes.
    • Support the Area Delivery Manager in defining complementing local metrics to the global KPIs and standards.
    • Drive and anchor global initiatives for implementation.
    • Project management coordination.
    • Develop structured continuous improvement strategies; define what is to be measured, gather, process and analyze the data. Present the information to aid decision making processes. Implement and follow through on the Continuous Improvement Plan.
    • Drive out of the box thinking in driving continuous improvement plans. Focus on incremental improvements, process redesign and continuous re-think to improve efficiencies, eliminate waste and contain costs across the organization.
    • Drive a continuous improvement mindset and culture in Area Delivery teams via on-the-job application of LEAN techniques/tools.
    • Drive process standardization and ensure adherence across the Area organization (i.e., IOPs & SOPs)
    • Continuously align initiatives and manage risks associated with deployment of initiatives, supporting with adopting new tools, processes and guidelines.
    • Partner with Area CX L&D on learning opportunities, capabilities and upskill across the Area Delivery organisation based on co-created competency assessment with leaders.
    • Challenge standardization practice that does not facilitate quality, efficiency and a digitization agenda.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    • Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives and project management within Logistics or Supply Chain
    • Process improvement and project management skills
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Tech savvy mindset to optimize new ways of working
    • Understanding E2E business landscape and operational excellence / Lean experience is beneficial
    • Highly structured and analytical
    • Strong influencing skills with the ability to drive change management
    • Result driven combined with the ability to achieve results through people
    • Training, coaching and driving adoption across teams
    • LEAN/Six Sigma knowledge and experience is preferred
    • International experience preferred and comfortability working in a matrix organization

    • Resilience and maturity in dealing with change/uncertainty and delivering results in challenging environments.
    • Evidence of thought-leadership and an understanding of the commercial business landscape.
    • Excellence in influencing senior stakeholders, conceptualising and shaping strategies, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view while acting as a trusted advisor and courageous advocate.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability to work in a matrix team environment where collaboration is key for our business success.
    • Solid knowledge and experience in adhering to local compliance requirements in South Africa, specifically with BBBEE, Employment Equity, and Skills Development initiatives.
