    Specialist | Institutional Fund Operations | Fund Operations (Pricing)

    Job Description

    The candidate will primarily be responsible for calculating the daily Net Asset Value (NAV) of various investment portfolios (Unit Trust, Pooled Products, Mutual Funds and Multi Manager). This includes the daily income and expense accruals, daily cash reconciliations, accurate calculation of service fees and benchmarks, scrip reconciliations and maintaining the cash positions and margin accounts. The candidate will also be responsible for NAV validation checks, verification checks and accepted tolerance levels for movements within the daily NAV. The candidate is responsible for both calculating the daily NAV and disseminating the NAV into the market. The role entails the accurate end-to-end processing required to support the NAV calculation.

    Responsibilities

    • Calculating the daily NAV of the Unit Trust, Pooled Products, Mutual Funds and Multi Manager Products 
    • Daily expense and income accruals 
    • Understanding the mechanism of financial instruments within a portfolio 
    • Good understating of corporate actions and the impact on the NAV 
    • Daily monitoring of cash balances 
    • Daily bank reconciliations of funds and investigating any recon breaks timeously 
    • Accurate capturing of foreign and local payments to trustees, custodians and third parties 
    • Maintaining cash positions and margin accounts. 
    • Calculation of derivatives and valuation of them 
    • Accurate calculation of monthly service fees 
    • Accurate calculation of benchmarks and understanding how the benchmark performance impacts the performance of the funds Understanding of the performance fee calculation 
    • Understand the difference between capital and income components 
    • Daily NAV verification and validation checks on funds and assessing if price variances are within an accepted tolerance level Disseminating of daily NAV's to the market 
    • Understanding the impact of pricing errors and calculating materiality of the error 
    • Daily and monthly scrip reconciliations 
    • Review outputs of pricing process to identify all exceptions and anomalies and how the system can be enhanced Documenting and enhancing processes 
    • Monitoring and performing periodic income distribution calculation and checks 
    • Assist with asset transfers across all platforms 
    • Preparation and assistance with year-end audits and auditors' requests 
    • Communicating and answering any queries on the funds from internal and external stakeholders 
    • Meeting client deadlines in terms of various service level agreements with stakeholders

    Experience and Qualifications

    •  BSc or BCom, with at least 1-year mathematics, statistics or accounting. 
    •  2 years' experience at a financial institution
    •  UT, Life or Bermuda fund/product knowledge is advantageous.

    Administration Assistant| Marketing

    Purpose of the role

    • Based in our Cape Town office at the V&A Waterfront, the purpose of this role is to perform administrative tasks across all teams within the Marketing department (Brand, Content and Digital), including managing the calendar of the head of Marketing.

    Role responsibilities

    • The role will include, but not be limited to:

    Calendar management

    •  Organise and arrange meeting logistics

    Financial administration

    •  Ensure that suppliers submit invoices on time
    •  Prepare quarterly and biannual invoices reports
    •  Capture new supplier details on Business Central
    •  Complete corporate credit card recons and submit relevant supporting documents to Group Finance

    Tech Lead | Retail Product Development | Data Science

    Job Responsibilities

    •  Lead and guide the technical vision, leveraging data engineering principles and tools to drive innovation and excellence within the team.

    Trading Allocator | Investment Team | Trading

    Job Description

    • Daily allocation of trades to portfolios and trading related administration.

    Responsibilities

    •  Implementation of portfolio manager investment decisions across the different mandate groups.
    •  Monitor client asset allocation and individual security positions relative to given targets and suggest corrective trades to traders.
    •  Obtain a detailed knowledge of each client’s investment mandate as well as all regulatory limits applicable to those clients.
    •  Monitoring client portfolio controls as contained in investment parameters, internal investment controls and any client specific requests to prevent transgressions. 
    •  Monitor client compliance with their individual investment management agreement (PMA), all relevant regulatory limits as well as the Allan Gray internal investment policy.
    •  Investigate and resolve any client compliance issues raised by the Investment Guidelines team.
    •  Construct new portfolios and rebalance portfolios where big deposits/withdrawals have occurred, or the client has requested a change in mandate.
    •  Monitor the settlement of all equity trades daily and investigate any potential settlement issues by liaising with the traders, settlements team and brokers.
    •  Upload and check the equity trades for the traders.
    •  Prepare Morning Meeting presentation.
    •  Compile various reports used in the trading and allocation decisions making process.
    •  Prepare ad hoc reports required by Traders and Portfolio Managers 
    •  Assist with end of day trade booking and ensure successful integration to the back-office system.

    Qualifications and Experience

    •  B.Com (Accounting, Actuarial, Economics, Finance, Statistics), B.Bus.Sc (Accounting, Actuarial, Economics,Finance, Quantitative Techniques), B.Econ.Sc (Finance, Actuarial) or similar 
    •  Previous experience in back office, middle office or investment operations will be beneficial.

    Specialist | Institutional Client Operations | Client Data & Reporting

    Job Summary

    • The role requires the candidate to actively manage the control environment and ensure robustness of controls in institutional client operations in order to comply with all regulations pertaining to AML, RMCP, FATCA, and OECD. The role will require reporting on AML statuses and other key operational metrics to always provide management with a view of key metrics.
