    Project Configuration and Change Controller

    Purpose of the Job 

    • Drive and monitor a scope of activities and deliverables related to the Configuration and Change Management process.
    • Support the Project / Program Configuration and Change Manager (PrCCM) to keep the project / program under control during the whole project / program life cycle.

    Responsibilities and objectives

    • Is the deputy of the PrCCM.
    • Promotes the Gibela Code of Ethics and adheres to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
    • Applies Configuration and Change standard procedures, instructions, templates etc. and ensures that team members do not bypass them.
    • Ensures the activities and Roles & Responsibilities in the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) are applied and followed.
    • The main general responsibilities of the PrCCC are the following, nevertheless depending on the CCM setup they might be adapted to a selection of them to focus on a specific scope of the CCM Process
    • Identifies, verifies the items to be put under configuration control (Configuration Items and/or Target Items)
    • Creates and maintains the Configuration Item List and /or the Target Item List for Configuration Baselines
    • Prepares and publishes the Configuration Baselines and/or Target Configuration Releases as planned
    • Ensures Supplier Configuration Management incl. CCM requirement negotiation and requested CCM documentation.
    • Ensures that Configuration data is recorded and documented, monitoring its compliance.
    • Deviations from Configuration Baseline Types and the Target Configurations shall be investigated, and inconsistencies shall be documented and managed, e.g., by waiver, concession, required changes.
    • Prepares, extracts, and communicates Configuration Status Accounting Report (CSAR)
    • Facilitate the electrical event management and transfer, when necessary, into the Change Management Process
    • Follow-up the field modifications for the electrical sub-system within electrical development centre and manufacturing sites
    • Provide the sub-system target configuration data to the PrCCM
    • Is the facilitator of the Change Boards, monitoring Change requests and related activities.
    • Coordinates and aligns all the project stakeholders regarding the changes.
    • Coordinates to ensure the completeness, correctness, clarity, and timeline of Change Requests in cooperation with the Change requestor from preparation to Approval to Implementation and Closure.
    • Prioritizes Change Requests in cooperation with requestor and other functions by Assignment to Baseline and/or Target Configuration
    • Provides Configuration and Change Management reporting and indicators (Key Performance Indicators) at PrCCM request
    • Escalates any CCM related issues in the Project / Program to the PrCCM and the respective supervisor and proposes possible solution.Ensures that the Company complies with both internal and external Remuneration and Benefits audit requirements
    • Responsible for the regular review of benefits and benefits providers and for ensuring that these are cost effective and of value to the business
    • Owns and Manages long service scheme in the business

    • Project Management/Business Management or equivalent- preferred
    • ECSA register (PrTech/PrEng)- preferred
    • 5 years of experience in manufacturing as an engineer
    • Basic knowledge of Configuration & Change Management
    • Basic knowledge in Business Process Management, Project Management, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Engineering and/or Industrialization
    • Basic experiences in working in an international environment

    System Engineer

    Purpose of the Job

    • To develop specifications for one or more functions / sub systems which will be designed and implemented on new generation passenger trains.  To lead the engineering studies to reach the required performances for each function/sub system (this includes Requirement Management, calculations and simulations, technical discussions with suppliers and internal departments, defining and executing the type tests on sub system and train level, performing root cause analysis and developing modification proposals).
    • By delegation of TSE, specify one or several train functions, and associated sub-system(s) at train level and lead technically the engineering studies to reach the required performances at train level.
    • All Projects with external suppliers: supervise and validates sub-system selection
    • Project he/she is in charge of manages project development with supplier and customer (TSE-TDE-TCE)
    • Perform the Validation activities for part of the train delegated by the TVE during project execution
    • Writes the Train test specifications and procedures

    Responsibilities and objectives:

    • Performing requirement development based on reference and applicable documents in close collaboration with relevant specialists, local and international Standards, Certification, Safety and Customer requirements.
    • Defining system architecture, operational modes and functions based on external/internal requirements
    • Performing the specialist field (e.g. EMC, Acoustics, and Fire Protection) requirement allocation to the various subsystems in close collaboration with local and international experts.
    • Performing train system FMECA in coordination with RAMS team
    • Ensuring consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems specifications,
    • Writing sub-system specification and architecture description in collaboration with the sub system engineers, other engineering sites and other engineering departments.
    • Supporting the Train System Engineer to define applicable train configurations
    • Ensuring coordination between Sub Systems, various engineering sites and central engineering on interfaces, performances, technical issues resolution during detailed design phase.
    • Participating in technical meetings with the customer
    • Working with the sourcing department to write technical product specifications for equipment to be procured, holding technical discussions with suppliers, participating in the supplier development and testing of their products.  To discuss with suppliers about non-performing/non-compliant topics in the warranty phase.
    • Drives technical development of the product until GFV in close relationship with suppliers
    • Defining and performing Train verification strategy in close collaboration with all Engineering departments, Certification & Validation teams, Train Sub System Team and Participating Units.
    • Writing the train level test specifications and sub system test specifications when needed.
    • Performing integration and tuning on the train
    • Complete management of technical open issues from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure.
    • Performing reporting at project level and métier level (via weekly reports)
    • Supporting TSE for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan, change order process and QCD optimisation
    • Prepares DR with suppliers (sub-system/product level) or with TSE (train/product integration level)
    • Manages the technical Sub-System ESLI/RAPR
    • Ensures that standard key design rules are applied with Platform and Sourcing colleagues.
    • Ensures that the Métiers tools are well applied (connector, costing tool, DRCL ….)
    • Execute activities given by the Train System Engineer (TSE)
    • Update the Validation Plan
    • Write Train System test procedures
    • Ensure the timely issuing of the Validation proves (including proves of lower level systems and components) and consolidates Validation files
    • Provide structured Return of experience (REX) to feed costing activities, to be implementd in Reference Solutions, and to enrich the CV metier technical repository.

    Qualifications and desired knowledge/experience

    Minimum education required

    • BSc / B.Eng. in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/ Mechatronics/Eletro-Mechanical Degree
    • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer with ECSA

    Minimum experience required

    Material Planner - Nigel

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • Manage his Supplier's portfolio (Internal and/or External suppliers) for ensuring goods delivery at right time and place based on Alstom needs.

    Obsolescence Coordinator - Midrand

    Purpose of the Job

    Obsolescence issues management related to Core Railway System on Gautrain and other Electronic/Electrical modules and systems manage at Site level

    Objectives

    • Is responsible at site level of general management and resolution of obsolescence issues raised during the execution of  the Projects (normally checks are done at TGR, PGR and CGR design for quality gate reviews) or raised from Supply Chain department during the procurement of spare parts managed at site level.
    • In addition is responsible to make “Early Risk Monitoring” with the support of Obsolescence Management services offered by Transport Organisation.
    • At operative level supports the Engineers for the definition and deployment of the “Action Plan” necessary to solve an obsolescence issue for a specific project.

    Measurement

    • Number of obsolescence issues managed and closed per year and average lead time for solution of detected problem (both in case of simple or complex obsolescence issues)

    Responsibilities

    Responsible of following actions:

    • Early Risk Monitoring (by means the use of a shared Transport Database dedicated to Obsolescence management at Transport level)
    • Maintain contact and networks with Technical people or Component suppliers to  receive “market watch” information related to technology evolution and potential obsolescence issues.
    • Obsolescence Treatment of Obsolescence notification (from check of truthfully of notification and related setting up of the Action Plan).
    • Support to Site functions involved in Obsolescence Action plan implementation.
    • Officially closing and reporting on Obsolescence issue treatment.
    • Responsible for the development and update of the Obsolescence Management Plan.
    • Ensure that obsolescence is managed as an integral part of maintenance and in-service support in order to minimize cost and detrimental impact throughout the product life cycle.

    Welding Coordinator - Nigel

    PURPOSE AND MISSION OF THE JOB:

    Secure the welding processes for welded products. Secure of testing and controlling of welded joints according to EN 15085. Implement correct weld practice on the production line and offer technical support on welding related matters. Assist with welder training and assessments.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    TASKS

    • Performing the tasks of a level C welding coordinator according in particular to EN 15085 and EN ISO 3834
    • Perform in-line welding inspection (before, during and after welding) and offer self-inspection training for welders as part of their on-the-job-training.
    • Assist in the review of welding requirements for new projects
    • Oversee SOE welder training program and provide relevant support
    • Approve welder qualifications
    • Participate in technical reviews for various projects
    • Ensure correct use of WPSs and work instructions on the production floor
    • Ensure traceability of primary parts and welding consumables being utilized on the line
    • Assist with failure and root cause analysis on welding related issues

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

    • At least 8 years postgraduate experience of which at least 3 years must be as a welding coordinator.
    • Very good knowledge about welding, material and test technology
    • Very good knowledge of welding and NDT standards such as EN 15085, EN 15614, ISO 9712, EN 9606, AWS, ASME
    • Ability to commit on welding quality and issues and decide on GO/NO GO for production release
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and other technical instructions
