    Talent and Development Programme

    Armscor is accepting applications for Graduates to register in the database for the Talent and Development Programme (TDP) with the following qualifications:

    • Dipl / BEng Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
    • Dipl/ BSc Eng. Electronics /Electrical Engineering
    • Dipl / BSc Eng. Electrical Engineering
    • Dipl/BSc Industrial Engineering
    • BSc/ BEng / BTech Metallurgy
    • NDip / Dipl: Analytical Chemistry
    • NDip / Dipl: Non Destructive Testing
    • BSC: Physics
    • Dipl / BSc Computer Science Information / Al / Software Engineering / Development

    PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMME;

    • To provide educational activities that are designed to improve the job performance while exposure in the working environment that involves obtaining knowledge and skills set, that will assist graduates to equip themselves for the work environment.

    Artisan: Electrical Fitter Ref. Number: DY24/12/02

    CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

    • Interpret job card requirements and identify all required tools, equipment and consumables to perform the job. 
    • Conduct risk assessments and mitigate any identified risks and hazards. 
    • Overhaul/repair and assemble equipment according to quality standards. 
    • Read and interpreted works instructions, procedures and quality control plans 
    • Oversee and take accountability of duties performed by assigned handyman on the job. 
    • Liaise with, support and assist superiors, project managers and other sections to ensure jobs are completed on allocated timeline. 
    • Abide by, promote and partake in all Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality and Security requirements of the Dockyard. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Trade Test Certificate – Electrical Fitter

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 2 years technical marine experience in an electrical Environment.

    SPECIAL PROFICIENCY/SKILLS:

    • Knowledge of electrical terms, circuitry, symbols and diagrams 
    • Knowledge of electrical test equipment 
    • Knowledge of electrical circuit problem solving techniques 
    • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

    Messenger

    CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Storage of archived and boxed documents in sequential order. 
    • Sorting of incoming and outgoing mail for distribution within the Dockyard. 
    • Collecting signals from Navy HQ building and distributing these to the relevant recipients. 
    • Collecting mail from Navy HQ Building Registry and documenting the collection thereof in the necessary register. 
    • Provision of a messenger duty to Armscor Dockyard Divisional Managers. 
    • Collecting and checking of postage arrivals at the Post Office. 
    • Manage the shredding and photocopy register. 
    • Prioritising urgent mail and signals. 
    • Ensure that all mail is received against a signature. 
    • Adhering to instruction with regards to handling of classified mail. 
    • Performing Adhoc tasks as directed by SHEQ management. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12
    • Driver’s licence 

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3 years’ experience within a similar business environment

    SPECIAL PROFICIENCY/SKILLS

    • Reading and Writing 
    • Ability to follow instructions 
    • Ability to articulate 
    • Be physically fit to perform duties (Inclusive of lifting of archived documents, walking and cycling to all points of work) 
    • Team player 
    • Be honest, trustworthy, and reliable and be able to handle working under pressure.
    • Have good work ethics and not be prejudice. 
    • Confidentiality
    • Be security conscious. 
    • Operating the Photocopier and Shredding Machines
