    Job description

    • Project Planning - Define the project scope/brief and work breakdown structure (WBS) in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure a common understanding of deliverables and the approach. Produce comprehensive project management plans that include scope, quality, risks, time, cost, human resources, procurement, integration, governance and communication, and confirm that these knowledge areas are regularly updated and maintained. Identify and manage project risks, constraints and changes, and ensure that the project plans are managed and approved. Establish and manage relationships with all stakeholders, role players and service providers to ensure commitment to a common goal. Ensure mentoring and coaching of staff as required to always ensure continuous development and availability of the required skills. Ensure effective talent management implementation aligned to the HC policies and procedures.     Minimum requirements
    Minimum Qualification:

    • A minimum of a relevant bachelor’s degree (NQF7) in the Project and Program Management or equivalent.
    • Solid knowledge of the project management discipline.
    • Knowledge of the Aviation industry is an added advantage.
    • A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent.
    • Other relevant professional registration is an added advantage.

     
    Minimum Experience:

    Security Management -

    • Review ATNS Security Policy based on the MISS document (Minimum Information Security Standards) in co-operation with the line manager.
    • Advise line manager about the amendments to the policy.
    • Manage compliance with the ATNS security policy and advise line manager about the security implications of management decisions.
    • Develop all Security processes that support the Physical Policy.
    • Collaborating with department managers to determine security needs.
    • Planning and implementing comprehensive security strategies.

    • Defining and developing new practices and procedures to enhance security processes.  
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that security services are being conducted in accordance with the prescribed standards and procedures and implement corrective action where appropriate.
    • Evaluate and improve security measures and procedures.
    • Conduct annual security audit to comply with the ASP.
    • Facilitate and ensure ATNS stations do conduct the Security Self Inspections as required by the ASP.
    • Monitor the extend of adherence/compliance to the security policy and measures.
    • Initiate corrective/disciplinary steps in cases of non-adherence in line with the policy.
    • Reporting to stakeholders including the SACAA. Manage all security awareness training activities.

    • Monitor and manage all Logistic issues, pre and post warranty period, regarding turnaround times and any other non-delivery.
    • Audit and confirm that a Project Closeout can commence. I.e. A fully operational and maintainable security system is handed over to the relevant department or section.
    • Remain abreast of developments in the air navigation service environment including technology.

    Stakeholder Management -

    • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.  
    • Ensure effective management of all communications with stakeholders on safety and regulatory oversight.
    • Facilitate collaboration and interaction as well as communication between the ATNS and all critical stakeholders.
    • Establish sound working relations with the relevant Airports Company.          
    • Cooperate with Civil Aviation Authorities, Local and Regional Authorities and Airports Management Companies when required to do so, within the constraint of Company Policy and mandate.

    Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO 2) x2 – FAWB

    Major Activities 

    • The control by CNS in accordance with prescribed standards, procedures, and practices (SARP’s), Air traffic within that airspace for which he/she is responsible for, to ensure safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, information provision and appropriate assistance where required.
    • Setting-up and checking surveillance, where appropriate, navigation and communication equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure optimum performance and serviceability.
    • Maintaining in the approved manner, a flight progress display of all aircraft under his / her direct control to ensure co-ordination and sequencing of air movements.
    • Rendering (all possible and continuous) assistance to aircraft in emergency or distress, reporting such occurrences, supporting any operator (ATC) encountering an emergency or distress situation in order to enhance the safe and successful completion service delivery to all flights (This includes alerting services and assisting agencies involved in Search and Rescue).
    • Providing aircraft with meteorological and any other information for the safe and efficient conduct of flight.
    • Maintaining a continuous watch on the assigned communication channels and remaining on duty, on the designated/assigned control position until properly relieved, thereby ensuring continuity of operations.
    • Relaying equipment, facilities, and navigational aid serviceability reports, navigational warnings to aircraft in the air and / or the appropriate authorities and initiating NOTAM action as required, communicating, and ensuring knowledge of current system status to all concerned.     Engineering Technician - FAEL

    Job description

    • Perform all relevant maintenance activities on equipment and systems as per the relevant Logistic Support Plan, station instructions and equipment manufacturer recommendations. 
    • Co-ordinate and manage that maintenance to buildings at the sites, the site itself such as roads, grass cutting, fencing, antenna masts, terrestrial communications and power from point of supply is maintained to ATNS standards.

    Job description

    Library and Information Management - Manage the organization-wide (ATNS) Library and Information Services initiatives and activities:

    • Ensure the implementation of the Library and Information Services strategy and implementation plan is successfully implemented. 
    • Conduct regular Library and Information Services audits to ensure all information resources are safeguarded and easily accessible. 
    • Develop, implement, conduct regular reviews, and monitor the adherence to Library and Information Services Policies and Procedures by ensuring compliance with the ATNS Quality Management System. 
    • Coordinate the provision of access to information requests in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (Act No. 2 of 2000).  
    • Responsible for the Library and Information Services System (implementation, control and reports).
    • Ensure the Library and Information system licenses and contracts adhere to Supply Chain Management and Compliance requirements.
    • Management of AIPs and ICAO Records and Documents.
    • All stations to have access to AIPs and ICAO documents.

    • Ensure all supplier’s contracts align with the ATNS Supply Chain Management policy and processes, including license renewals.
    • Ensure payments of all purchases/invoices of Library and Information are cost-effective and aligned with ATNS Supply Chain Management policy and processes.

    Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO 2) x2 – FAKN

    Job description

    Major Activities 

    • The control by CNS in accordance with prescribed standards, procedures, and practices (SARP’s), Air traffic within that airspace for which he/she is responsible for, to ensure safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, information provision and appropriate assistance where required.
    • Setting-up and checking surveillance, where appropriate, navigation and communication equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure optimum performance and serviceability.
    • Maintaining in the approved manner, a flight progress display of all aircraft under his / her direct control to ensure co-ordination and sequencing of air movements.
    • Rendering (all possible and continuous) assistance to aircraft in emergency or distress, reporting such occurrences, supporting any operator (ATC) encountering an emergency or distress situation in order to enhance the safe and successful completion service delivery to all flights (This includes alerting services and assisting agencies involved in Search and Rescue).
    • Providing aircraft with meteorological and any other information for the safe and efficient conduct of flight.
    • Maintaining a continuous watch on the assigned communication channels and remaining on duty, on the designated/assigned control position until properly relieved, thereby ensuring continuity of operations.
    • Relaying equipment, facilities, and navigational aid serviceability reports, navigational warnings to aircraft in the air and / or the appropriate authorities and initiating NOTAM action as required, communicating, and ensuring knowledge of current system status to all concerned. This includes the appropriate administration associated with these functions.
    • Complying with procedures detailed in Station Standing Instructions, particularly those pertaining to:
    • Opening and closing operational positions
    • Taking over an operational position(s)
    • Management of unserviceable equipment and facilities – The ability to adapt
    • Special procedures
    • Maintaining own medical and proficiency standards to remain valid in all the required operational positions.
    • Maintaining all associated and required operational administration, current and in compliance with company demand and SOPS.
    • Assist and support the OIC/Pool Manager with the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) at the unit, enabling an environment for the implementation of the SMS and make recommendations to ensure that the ATNS safety policy remains appropriate and effective.
    • Assist with safety assessments.
    • Continuously monitor and identify any trends or any other indicators of deterioration in safety or service levels. Pro-actively plan to ensure that safe, efficient, and continuous service levels are implemented and maintained.

    Minimum requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A valid Aerodrome Rating (South African or International).
    • Valid class 3 ATC medical
    • Valid English language proficiency – Level 4 and above
    • Previous tower validation within ATNS will be advantageous.

    Minimum Experience

    • Three (3) years’ experience applicable ATS experience
    • Two years on-the-job instructional experience (OJTI qualified)

    Air Traffic Service Officer Trainee FACT X3

    Job description

    Major Activities 

    • Provide a support ATS function and supplementary service by maintaining standards and performance to ensure that all requirements as stipulated in regulations are met.
    • Issue clearances as per the route filed on the flight plan which will determine the SID allocated.
    • Obtain the aircraft’s parking bay, registration and requested flight level.
    • Providing a relevant after departure clearances (SID’s or alternate non-standard departure) and departure slot times including aircrafts Call sign, Destination, requested flight level, Transponder code and slot time.
    • Acting as a switchboard including the screening of private calls to ATC’s on position, requests from the public for miscellaneous information, requests from pilot and airlines for weather or take-off times or runways,
    • Monitoring of SAR requirements and cancellation of SAR.
    • The completions of necessary forms in the event of SAR, accidents, or incidents on behalf of ATC.  
    • Checking for correctness of all flight plans and allocating a reference number.
    • The manipulation and monitoring of AMATIS and TopSky.
    • Liaison with AIMU regarding flight plan requests.
    • Assist ATC with operational duties  and any other information
    • Creation, extension and cancellation of Notams.
    • Billing the daily stats.
    • Liaison with Technical Services with regards to faulty equipment and update the unserviceability log.
    • Sending departure messages and other messages via Anais.
    • Provide traffic information to all aircraft operating in the flight information region.
    • Check that the aircraft type, speed and wake turbulence category is correct.
    • Provide weather information on request – reported and forecasted.
    • Provide pertinent information about destination aerodrome or alternate aerodrome including hours of duty of manned stations, any changes in weather conditions, physical changes to the condition of the aerodrome and any other associated facilities.
    • Provide alerting action where required.
    • Provide the correct clearances to aircraft entering controlled airspace as required.
    • Provide assistance in case of an emergency or an aircraft being lost.
    • Radar monitoring for flights in FACA FIR.
    • Relaying of real time estimates to/from neighbouring FIR’s and ATSU’s.

    Minimum requirements

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • Grade12 with Maths & English
    • Completed ATS Core Content and ATS Rating course, to be a qualified as an ATSO
    • Valid Class 3 medical
    • Exposure in the ATS environment (advantageous)
