    Citrus Farm Manager

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A relevant diploma or degree in citrus production or a related agricultural field is advantageous.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

    Management of Assigned Farms or Sections 

    • Ensure effective cost management.
    • Assist the Senior Farm Manager with budget preparation, planning, spraying, harvesting, picking, pruning, and irrigation.
    • Maintain effective production practices.
    • Ensure your section is kept clean, orderly, and well-maintained at all times.

    Production Management 

    • Ensure maximum production at the highest quality levels.
    • Manage irrigation schedules daily in collaboration with the Senior Farm Manager / Operations Manager.
    • Ensure irrigation probe readings are taken accurately, submitted/uploaded daily.
    • Ensure accurate execution of spray instructions and timely submission of related records. Manage spraying within the appropriate "window periods".
    • Submit chemical orders to the farm office well in advance.
    • Assist with weekly planning, picking estimates, and record keeping during the season.
    • Promote best picking practices among picking teams.
    • Optimise packout percentages.
    • Ensure teams meet or exceed minimum picking standards as outlined in the picking contracts.

    Staff Leadership and Development

    • Assist with annual labour estimates and update regularly.
    • Conduct staff inductions and employment contracting.
    • Evaluate staff performance quarterly in coordination with the HR & Payroll Administrator and Senior Farm Manager / Operations Manager.
    • Manage and follow up on absenteeism.
    • Ensure adherence to farm policies and working hours.
    • Coordinate and direct teams to maximise productivity and efficiency.
    • Apply disciplinary procedures fairly and consistently, including verbal counselling when necessary.
    • Train staff on job duties, company policies, and safety procedures.

    Equipment and Infrastructure Maintenance 

    • Ensure farm equipment is properly maintained.
    • Conduct regular maintenance of irrigation systems.
    • Ensure all spray equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operational at all times.

    Health and Safety Compliance 

    • Enforce compliance with health and safety protocols.
    • Ensure proper use of equipment and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
    • Supervise the safe handling and disposal of chemical containers.
    • Train employees on health and safety procedures.
    • Maintain security and restricted access to farm assets, equipment, and infrastructure.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, including environmental regulations, food safety protocols, and labour laws (e.g., SIZA, GlobalG.A.P., Labour Law).
    • Report and investigate all Injury on Duty (IOD) incidents promptly, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission.

    General Duties 

    • Support middle and junior management as required.
    • Maintain timely and accurate administrative records.
    • Ensure clear and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
    • Identify and report inefficiencies or issues to senior management, taking corrective action where authorised.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Senior Management.

    Agricultural Sales Representative

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or related fields is preferred.
    • Additional certifications in agricultural sales or crop management would be advantageous.
    • Proven experience in agricultural sales, particularly in selling soil and plant health products.
    • Strong background in crop cultivation, agronomy, or related agricultural fields.
    • Experience working with farmers, agronomists, and agricultural businesses is highly preferred.
    • Knowledge of soil and plant health issues, including pest and disease management, soil amendments, and crop nutrition.
    • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
    • Strong technical understanding of agricultural products and crop cultivation techniques.
    • Ability to build and maintain lasting customer relationships.
    • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Proficient in MS Office and CRM software.

    Sales and Business Development:

    • Promote and sell soil and plant health products to existing and potential customers within the agricultural industry.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with farmers, agronomists, cooperatives.
    • Identify new business opportunities and markets for soil and plant health products.
    • Provide product demonstrations and technical support to customers.
    • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with clients to maximize sales while maintaining customer satisfaction.

    Crop Cultivation Expertise:

    • Use knowledge of crop cultivation and agronomy to advise customers on the most effective use of soil and plant health products.
    • Provide technical guidance and recommendations based on soil types, environmental conditions, and crop needs.
    • Monitor crop performance and provide feedback to customers to optimize product use and improve yield.

    Customer Service and Support:

    • Offer ongoing customer support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for product-related issues.
    • Conduct regular site visits to customer farms and facilities to assess needs and promote relevant products.
    • Assist customers with understanding product labels, usage instructions, and best practices.
    • Assist in the organization and delivery of training sessions and workshops for customers on product application and crop cultivation practices.

    Production Administrator

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 qualification

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Operations:

    • Ensure smooth start-up, change-over, and shutdown procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of materials, waste, and utilisation.
    • Monitor the production dashboard for efficiency, downtime, and absenteeism.
    • Measure production output, packing inventory, and ensure correct labelling and strapping.
    • Verify the proper functioning of production machinery.
    • Oversee wet line applications and production checklists.
    • Contribute to production planning and final packing instructions.

    Quality & Compliance:

    • Track and report on fruit weight, cup fill, and rejected pallets.
    • Enforce Health & Safety compliance, ensuring all procedures are followed.

    Minimum Requirements:

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS 

    Operations:

    • Reviewing regulatory standards and trends to stay updated of issues in the field of quality control (Internal Audit/Audit reports/audit requirements/legal requirements/Health and Safety).
    • Capturing of compliance related documents and procedures, as well as generating reports for feedback to Manager (Internal audits/ Health and Safety/Carbon Calculator/ Environmental monitoring/water sampling/Meeting minutes).
    • Producing reports regarding non-conformances of processes and standards, root cause analysis and trends
    • Conducts internal audits and ensure that non-conformances are raised and followed up until closed off.
    • Conduct unannounced walkabout inspections periodically to assess staff readiness for audit and to specifically identify where corrective actions are needed.
    • Ordering and stocktake of consumables and other departmental relative aspects.
    • Coordinate compliance related procedures such as pest control, glass and hard plastic checks, visitor and contractor compliance, environmental monitoring, Food safety meetings, OHS meetings etc. 

    Quality:

    • Ensure that all standards and requirements are assessed and non-conformances clearly raised with the respective departments.
    • Ensure that all corrective actions and process controls are validated for effectiveness on non-conformance close-out

    Compliance:

    • Ensuring accurate internal checks are performed, compliance and health and safety walkthroughs such as glass control, pest checks and health and safety are done timeously and thorough record keeping of such events.
    • Ensure that the area of responsibility is clean and at that all hygiene, health and safety policies and rules are followed. 

    Communication and Reporting:

    • Analysing test results and providing timeously feedback and interpretation to manager and other packhouse management (Environmental monitoring/Water Sampling/MRL sampling).
    • Ensuring good communication on all levels (upwards and downwards) to ensure effective and efficient operations.
    • Coordination of compliance audit schedules and audit non-conformances, and communication of expectations and reporting results.

    Human Resources and Management:

    • Ensure that staff are trained in the general packhouse processes, standards and regulatory requirements through induction, toolbox talks and refresher training sessions when needed.

    General and Off season:

    • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by Management.
    • Off season tasks and responsibilities may vary from the above.
