    Re – Advertisement: Head: Human Capital Management

    • SANParks invites applications for a strategic leadership opportunity to head its Human Capital Management (HCM) function. This role is pivotal in shaping the organisation’s people strategy, driving transformation, and fostering a high-performance culture aligned with SANParks’ mandate and business objectives.

    Requirements

    • Minimum: Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, or Psychology.
    • Preferred: Master’s degree in HRM or related field.

    Experience:

    • 10–12 years’ generalist HR experience at senior management level, with at least 5 years in an executive/strategic HR leadership role.
    • Exposure to Board-level activities and governance processes (advantageous).

    Technical Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of HR systems (Sage 300 advantageous).
    • Expertise in talent management, labour relations, and transformation strategies.
    • Understanding of corporate governance, diversity management, and change management principles.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and develop the Human Capital Management strategy aligned to SANParks’ business plan.
    • Implement and monitor the HCM business plan, ensuring delivery of strategic objectives.
    • Develop and enforce policies that comply with legislative frameworks and organisational needs.
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to the HCM team, ensuring capability development and succession planning.
    • Drive customer-centric HR service delivery and effective communication across the organisation.
    • Ensure compliance with all labour legislation, corporate governance standards, and transformation imperatives.
    • Champion change management and diversity initiatives, embedding SANParks’ values and culture.
    • Manage stakeholder relationships internally and externally for mutual benefit.
    • Oversee sound financial management and HR systems, including HRIS and payroll platforms.

    Assistant Investigator

    • SANParks requires the services of an Assistant Investigator in the Environmental Crime Investigations department. This position will be based in the Kruger National Park, Skukuza.

    Requirements

    • Be in possession of an NQF Level 6 in Policing / Conservation Management/ Crime Investigation or equivalent
    • Valid firearm competency will serve as an added advantage.
    • EMI (Environmental Management Inspector) qualifications will be an added advantage.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in law enforcement, wildlife crime investigation, or anti – poaching.
    • Previous Conversation experience.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws.
    • Knowledge of environmental investigations.
    • Knowledge of criminal investigations.
    • Knowledge of crime intelligence management.
    • Knowledge of financial management.
    • Knowledge of crime scene management.

    • Assist and conduct investigations relating to any environmental crime negatively impacting on SANParks as and when required.
    • Assist with investigations and collection of information for level 1 to 4 environmental crimes and support crime investigations in general.
    • Assist with the analysis of in-coming reports for the management of reactive and proactive specialised anti-poaching operations.
    • Assist with corporate crime investigations, as and when required.
    • Assist in conducting crime investigations, reconstruction of tactical information of crime scenes.
    • Contribute to the overall crime information picture of the SANParks.
    • Assist in maintaining good relations with relevant role-players.
    • Assist with the compilation of reports for further investigation.
    • Assist with administration and reporting e.g. Info Notes / Crime scene data sheet.
    • Assist with administration and reporting functions of the Unit.

    Internship Programme Opportunities

    • South African National Parks (SANParks) is the leading conservation authority in all national parks, responsible for 3 751 113 hectares of protected land in 20 national parks. It draws its mandate from National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, Act 57 of 2003.
    • Applications are hereby invited from graduates who completed their National Diploma (NQF6) at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in South Africa and wish to be placed at SANParks for a period of Twenty-Four (24) Months with a monthly stipend of R6 335.69. SANParks is under no obligation to employ the Intern upon completion of the Programme.

    Technical General Worker

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 Certificate (matric) required or equivalent
    • 1-2 years of practical experience in a maintance field.
    • Brush cutter certificate/ competency.
    • Ability to speak, read & write English is essential.
    • Machinery operating, literacy, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Incumbent must be physically fit and capable of performing tasks such as lifting, bending, gardening, and standing for extended periods.
    • Self-motivated, good time management, responsible, and disciplined.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain the terrain and gardens, including brush cutting and general landscaping.
    • Perform routine general maintenance tasks relating to the Research Camp buildings, fences, roads, water supply and infrastructure.
    • Undertake minor electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry work, within the incumbent’s capabilities.
    • Carry out general paint work.
    • Perform general cleaning duties, including removal of rubbish, cleaning of fireplaces, braais, and surrounding areas.
    • Ensure the neatness of the Research Campgrounds and communal areas at all times.
    • Clean vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment and ensure all are in good working condition at all times.
    • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices at all times.
    • Assist camp supervisor with general cleaning duties of accommodations and communal areas, when necessary.
    • Assist with the collection of supplies when necessary.
    • Assist with inventory counting.
    • Record and report major maintenance issues to the camp supervisor.
    • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by the camp supervisor.
