    Hybrid/Solar PV Project Engineer

    Is this you?

    • Knowledgeable in Solar PV / Hybrid projects you are also a great communicator, capable of independent decision making with a result and detail orientated approach to your work. You have worked within a large corporate before spanning across a number of different countries, this wouldn’t be your first rodeo.

    What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

    • You will enjoy being responsible for the complete engineering, design, and planning of Solar PV plants / Hybrid projects for more than only South Africa. This includes system specification, design, technical aspects, and compliance with electrical, mechanical, and civil construction codes… this doesn’t exclude medium voltage grid connections. Naturally there is a support element where other teams may need your input such as the sales and project management team during bid preparations and submissions, technical contract negotiations and commissioning.

    Electrical Grid Engineer

    Renewable Energy Project Developer

    Is this you?

    • Identifying and originating new renewable energy projects and if you need more information that means clearing initial risks, site visits, securing land etc. This organisation will require you to manage or facilitate commercial negotiations for the signing of land lease agreements, EIA’s, regulatory approvals, electrical connection applications and agreements etc. You support in upcoming bid rounds will be appreciated along with conducting land and environmental due diligences for project acquisitions. You will need to foster relationships with external consultants, advisors, regulatory authorities, landowners, and joint venture partners… bringing relevant matters to the attention of colleagues and the Head of Project Development. This is not an exhaustive list of this roles impact on the organisation.

    What you’ll need

    • A tertiary qualification is not negotiable. Either in engineering, science or a BCom. No less than 5 years’ experience within a similar role and working for a project developer is required to adequately perform these duties. Travel will form part of your activities as well as consistent networking and relationship building. You require strong HSE competencies, contract management skills as well as excellent communication abilities.

    O&M Senior GCC Engineer

To mention a few specific items; drafting, reviewing, and improving procedures and method statements for preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure compliance, troubleshooting; planning corrective actions in cases of complex events; implementing planned maintenance programs for all Solar PV plants. There will be quite a bit of travel required in line with business requirements, this description is not exhaustive of your responsibilities.

    • A degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering is non-negotiable alongside a Pr. Eng. registration. A GCC qualification will put you far above the rest. Around 10 years’ experience will be expected from power utility infrastructure project execution and operations and maintenance. Being conversant with the RSA grid code, transmission network code, distribution network code and SANS is important too. They need a professional that has worked or is working within the South African REIPPP (Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme), trained in operating and maintaining central inverters for renewable energy facilities.

    Renewable Energy Land Manager

It will be such an advantage for you to have renewable energy experience already, particularly in wind or solar (utility scale).

    Senior Project Development Manager – Renewable Energy

    • You enjoy being part of multiple phases within multiple projects and depending on the market and business model this means that tasks could include site selection, land acquisition, plant layout, permitting and the commercial negotiations for the sale of equity and procurement of goods/services. All covering the development phase through financial close to construction support.

An understanding of DEA environmental authorisation assessment process will be appreciated as well within this space.

    Quantity Surveyor – Electrical Industries and Solar
