    Project Manager

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will render an effective and efficient project management service in accordance with the University of Pretoria (UP) Project Protocol in relation to the planning, implementation and construction of: 

    • New buildings, additions and refurbishment of existing buildings and other facilities including office buildings, lecture halls, auditoria, laboratories, hospitals, domestic houses, residences and sporting facilities such as swimming pools, sporting surfaces (excluding grass fields), pavilions and club houses;
    • Installation and refurbishment of existing building systems such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, lifts and other mechanical installations, electronic access control and fire detection systems;
    • Installation and refurbishment of existing services infrastructure including electrical installations, water provision, gas distribution, standby generators, storm water and drainage systems, roads and parking lots;
    • Ensuring that UP Project Protocol Methodology is enforced and followed;
    • Co-ordination of project and administrative functions during initiation, concept and viability, design development, documentation and procurement,  construction and close out;
    • Facilitation of the preparation and management of all required project documentation
    • Scheduling and attending project meetings;
    • Ensuring delivery of the highest quality, within approved budget and on agreed time frame;
    • Ensuring that all required project documentation is handed over to the relevant divisions and all equipment is commissioned prior to Practical Completion and Handover Stage.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelors’ degree (NQF level 7) in construction management, Quantity surveying , Architecture, Engineering or any other building sciences or Building management; 
    • Minimum of 4  years applicable construction project management experience in the building industry, as well as relevant technical experience;
    • Valid Driver’s License.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices;
    • Knowledge of the National Building Regulations and relevant SANS standards;
    • Knowledge of building and construction practices;
    • Knowledge of construction contract law and standard forms of contract, including JBCC, FIDIC, NEC and GCC;
    • Knowledge of PROCSA agreements;
    • Knowledge of Risk Management principles and practices;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
    • Proficiency in project management and construction software, including MS Project, CCS and/or Primavera;
    • Budget compilation, control and financial/cost management skills;
    • Administrative and organisational skills;
    • Ability to sequence and schedule project activities;
    • Programme and project management skills;
    • Ability to interpret and monitor construction programmes;
    • Construction quality management skills;
    • SHE and construction safety management knowledge;
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Negotiation and argumentation skills;

    Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences: Student Administration - Senior Administrative Officer X2 Posts

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Planning and organising activities for the Faculty Student Administration, in consultation with the Head of Student Administration;
    • General Student Administration throughout the complete student life cycle from admission to graduation;
    • Assisting with the counselling of students with regards to admission requirements and curricula;
    • Handling of matters related to examinations and processing of examination results; 
    • Assisting with arrangements regarding graduation ceremonies;
    • Handling of matters concerning the Course Catalogue, fixed curricula of degree programmes and prerequisites of modules;
    • Liaising with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (diplomats, prospective students, registered students and other stakeholders); 
    • Delivering an exceptional and client-friendly service to students and all stakeholders involved in the student administrative processes at the University.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • An appropriate and relevant three-year recognised diploma qualification with at least three years’ experience in a tertiary environment specifically related to Student Administration; OR
    • Grade 12 with at least five years’ experience in a tertiary environment specifically related to Student Administration;
    • Specific experience with all processes from applications of undergraduate and postgraduate students, admissions, registration and degree audits and graduation ceremonies;
    • Computer literacy with knowledge of and experience in PeopleSoft, MS Office packages, e-mail, internet etc.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Applicable professional communication and language skills, both written and verbal;

    The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.

    • The position plays a strategic role in overseeing the Faculty brand and marketing strategy, as well as communication campaigns, media relations, events and web refresh, and ensures that the strategies are effectively implemented across all faculty departments and align with the University's overall institutional strategy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Developing and managing a communication strategy that supports the faculty’s key strategic objectives and aligns with strategic intent and direction at the institutional level;
    • Strategically position Faculty leadership through the development of executive communication, including key messages, speeches, and thought leadership content, to enhance visibility, credibility, and influence among internal and external stakeholders;
    • Providing direction and oversight to the service provider (social media service provider) on integrated marketing priorities, campaigns, and brand initiatives;

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor/BTech degree in marketing management, communication management/public relations/journalism or related fields 
    • 4 years’ experience in developing marketing communication strategies and campaign implementation plans.
    • 4 years’ experience in managing a variety of cross-functional marketing communication campaigns from inception to completion.
    • 4 years' experience in managing relationships with agencies and third-party suppliers;
    • 2 years' experience in reporting on campaign results and making recommendations to senior management;
    • Stakeholder engagement and management experience.
