    Finance Assistant (Onderstepoort)

    Description

    • Accurate and timeous check of S&T claims and advances.
    • Timeous approval of S&T claims and advances on ESS.
    • Handing of S&T queries.
    • Make necessary follow-ups on outstanding S&T’s.
    • Accurate and timeous petty cash reconciliation.
    • Accurate and timeous petty cash journal.
    • Safe keeping of petty cash and petty cash records.
    • Processing of petty cash advances and claims.
    • Handling of petty cash queries.
    • Handling of cash transactions.
    • Monthly reconciliation of petty cash general ledger account.
    • Accurate and timeous preparation and posting of journals.
    • Assist project managers with budget revisions.
    • Compliance with internal control procedures.
    • Ensure that audit queries are attended to and resolved as soon as possible.
    • Adherence to Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and other relevant statutes.
    • Accurately filing of supporting documents.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree/ National Diploma in Financial Accounting.
    • 2 years' working experience in the Finance environment.
    • Knowledge and experience in MS Office and ERP system.
    • Knowledge and experience of Public Finance Management Act and GRAP.
    • Good Communication Skills (Written and Verbal).
    • Ability to use initiative and work independently and/or with a team.

    Research Team Manager: Crop Protection (Potchefstroom)

    Description

    • Strategic planning and positioning of research programme nationally and internationallyProviding scientific leadership in a specific field of research in multi-disciplinary teams, which will include quality control of all scientific outputs, projects, proposals, scientific publications, reports, scientific presentations, popular publications and presentations with increased emphasis on innovation and sustainability. Planning and co-ordinating research activities, Oversight on the management of research material and equipment, oversight on research outcomes and writing management reports, disseminating information and oversight on publishing research results as well as fostering collaboration and building alliances

    Requirements

    • PhD or DSc in (Crop Protection/ Plant Physiology) or related field.
    • At least 8 years post PhD experience.
    • At least 8 years’ experience in the management of research teams in any of the disciplinary areas.
    • Minimum of 10 publications by time of appointment.
    • NRF rating of at least C1 will be an added advantage.
    • Registration with a scientific and professional body will be an added advantage.
    • Proven recognition as a research leader on national and international level.

    Finance Assistant (Irene (Ap))

    Description

    • Maintain and update Fixed assets register on SAGE system.
    • Capitalise assets.
    • Process depreciation correction journals.
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations – PPE.
    • Filing of documents on SharePoint with proper referencing.
    • Provide asset tags for all assets capitalised/new acquisitions.
    • Liaise with Facilities on asset matters.
    • Verify assets on ad-hoc basis as and when necessary.
    • Capture invoices to recognise revenue.
    • Link invoices to payments.
    • Clear credit balances.
    • Debt recovery – follow ups weekly.
    • Processing S & T Claims.
    • Processing of Petty cash issues.

    • Capturing of km claims on SAGE system.
    • Attend to ad-hoc requests.
    • To comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

    Requirements

    • National Diploma or degree in Accounting.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in accounting/Finance field.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent Numerical and accounting skills.
    • Knowledge of project contracts, project costing and accounting.
    • In Depth Knowledge of Public Financial Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Agricultural Research Act and GRAP.
    • Attention to detail and deadline driven.
    • Exposure to SAGE X3 ERP will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to work under pressure.

    Requirements

    • A PhD in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Research Management, or a related discipline.
    • 8 years of management experience, with at least 5 years at a senior management level.
    • Professional membership with a relevant scientific or research organisation.
    • Extensive experience in a scientific research environment, with a deep understanding of the agricultural sector.
    • Proven track record in leading and coordinating research support functions in a multidisciplinary organisation.
    • Experience in stakeholder engagement, including government, industry, and international research institutions.
    • Strong knowledge of research governance, intellectual property management, and commercialisation of research outputs.
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate research, innovation, and business development strategies.
    • Experience in financial and human resource management within a research driven organisation.
    • Practical understanding of strategic management principles and performance monitoring frameworks.

    Occupational Health and Safety Officer – Small Grain (Bethlehem)

    Description

    • Provide Health and Safety Support and Services by ensuring compliance with OHS regulations and standards by offering health and safety support and services.
    • Ensure that employees and contractors comply with safety regulations and policies.
    • Identify and facilitate employee and organizational health and safety training needs, interventions and ongoing refresher trainings
    • Conduct and record an updated occupational health risk register
    • Implement and continuously monitor operational controls to reduce workplace risks.
    • Monitor, record and report relevant data on occupational incidents, workplace health statistical data and trends
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
    • Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE by employees.
    • Minimise the organisation's environmental impact through sustainable waste management and pollution control strategies and programmes.
    • Ensure safe keeping of mandatory records, files, registers and technical reports related to safety, health, and environmental activities
    • Establish and manage sustainable and functional Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) committees
    • Develop and co-ordinate OHS induction, awareness and training programs to educate managers, employees, operators and contractors about safety policies, protocols, licensing, practices and systems.
    • Ensure organizational adaptability to change, evolving medical protocols and develop mechanisms to redress non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

    Requirements

    • A 3-year National Diploma, B-Tech or Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environment, or similar related fields. 
    • Postgraduate Qualification will be advantageous
    • 2-3 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental management.
    • Implementation experience in OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001.
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written),
    • Environmental Compliance (strong recommendation),
    • Optional:  Professional Membership with the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) at a graduate member level or higher.
    • Completed courses with SAMTRAC and/or NOSA,
    • Proficiency in MS Suite,
    • Valid South African driver’s license.
