    Specialist: Body/Paintshop & Parts

    Main duties:

    • Managing, planning, leading, organizing and controlling of Body/Paint shop and contract management of the Parts & Accessories (P&A) Warehouse as part of the Vehicle Distribution Centre (VDC) Technical services contract. Track zero movements on parts (obsolescence), accurate stock levels, audits.
    • Ensure parts and labour are recovered from other BMW departments and contract partners.
    • Monitor the day-to-day activities of BMW staff, Temporary Employee Services and Service Provider staff.
    • Disciplinary responsibility for BMW staff.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Manage Bodyshop and Paint shop Activities/vehicle scheduling, preparation, paint process.
    • Co-ordinate and support workshop on technical issues.
    • Attend Motor Claim meetings as a member of the Vehicle Appeal Committee.
    • Attend Court cases for Fleet vehicles if needed.
    • Manage contractors to achieve Key Performance Indicators for P&A Warehouse and Panel Shop.
    • Monitor time & efficiency. Check workshop loading and throughput.
    • Responsible for Approved Used Car (AUC) throughput, from arrival till final buy off.
    • Monitor/Mentor quality buy off at final inspection, according to AUC standards.
    • Undertake carbon fibre body repairs as well as armoured protection vehicle repairs. Visit dealers on request for technical advice on repairs.
    • Ensure the implementation and maintaining of all system requirements, according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 in the area of responsibility.
    • Manage state of the art processes and the latest technology as used in the Paint and Panel industry.

    Qualification requirements:

    • Technical Diploma or Artisan Qualification in Body, Paint and Accident repair.

    Required Skills,Knowledge and Experience:

    • 5 Years in Motor Industry
    • Technical knowledge, experience of the accident repair and Bodyshop industry.
    • Leadership knowledge of running a parts department.
    • Leadership and Coaching skills.
    • Language skills: Proficient in English. German would be advantageous.
    • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, Electronic Parts Catalogue (ETK).
    • Other: Understanding of the Value-added Production Systems principles and methods and/or Lean Six Sigma.
    • Good analytical skills.
    • Sound communication and social skills.
    • Persuasive and high level of assertiveness.
    • Leadership and Management Skills to manage the department.
    • Financial understanding of budgets, costing and quoting.
    • Product knowledge to advise external customers.
    • Identify, understand and give priority to satisfying the needs of customers. Striving to deliver long-term, sustainable customer satisfaction. Introducing strategies and processes to ensure customer needs are met.
    • Ability to support internal and external teams to enable them to deliver.

    Junior Metrologist

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accountable to the Quality Manager, Assembly.
    • Responsible for the correct use of portable measuring equipment only – ROMA arms, Leica tracker, Calibri, etc.Responsible for conducting regular, accurate measurements on the relevant Assembly Plant processes requiring measurements.
    • Responsible to raise a flag, if, during measuring, measurement discrepancies are detected.Responsible to propose corrective actions / adjustments to correct deviations, to the relevant Quality or Production Engineers.
    • Responsible to implement the agreed changes and actions as defined by the Quality or Production Engineer.
    • Responsible for the documentation of the measurement results.Responsible to propose Continuous Improvement actions to ensure stability / improved Quality.
    • Support problem root cause investigations that require measurements in Assembly Plant, with agreement from the Quality Manager.

    Impact on innovations and changes

    • Improvement of process stability and Quality stability.

    Purpose and subject of the interaction/communication with internal/external interfaces, negotiating mandate

    • Quality Improvement.

    Education:

    • Minimum N6 Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent. Diploma/BTech/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    Work Experience:

    • 1-2 years in the Manufacturing industry.
    • Measurement experience with manual measurement machines advantageous.

    Additional skills: Special skills / technical ability etc.

    • Jigs and fixtures operation and purposes.
    • Geometrical knowledge.
    • Root cause analysis skills.
    • Presentation skills.
    • Microsoft office advanced skills.
    • Polyworks software.
    • EEMA software.
