    Sous Chef

    Job Description

    • Faircape Health provides the full continuum of care at six world-class healthcare facilities located on-site at six luxury, retirement villages.
    • We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our Restaurant and Catering team in Cle Du Cap within the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. 
    • The successful candidate will lead and manage the chefs, and ensure consistency is upheld and contribute to the overall success of each service.

    Responsibilities include, but not be limited:

    • Managing and mentoring chefs, ensuring proper weekly training and adherence to food safety standards as well as policies and procedures.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among kitchen staff.
    • Monitor food presentation, taste, and consistency to meet high standards.
    • Upholding impeccable standards of food quality, consistency and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
    • Preparing meals according to set recipes and meal specifications
    • Ensure strict adherence to meal ingredients and presentation specifications, to guarantee the quality and consistency of each meal
    • Manage and oversee the cooking process from preparation to presentation
    • Supervise and produce the daily meals for the healthcare, including a variety of 3-course menus that rotate every four weeks, while completing the healthcare meals, one needs to prepare quality meals and baked goods for the cafe as well to ensure there is sufficient food 
    • Ensuring and measuring proper food temperatures when cooking and serving of meals 
    • Collaborate with the team to efficiently manage stock variances, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimising discrepancies.
    • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment and ensuring to follow health and safety guidelines.
    • Ensuring that daily food safety documents and paperwork is up to date

    Qualifications:

    • Chef's diploma/qualification from a registered tertiary education provider.

    Requirements and Experience:

    • Proven experience in a Sous Chef capacity 
    • Knowledge of food quality management and standardisation.
    • Maintaining an excellent physical condition and stamina.
    • Proficient in various cooking and baking techniques.
    • Understanding of health and safety requirements in a kitchen.

    Interior Designer

    Job Description

    Duties include (but are not limited to):

    • Create functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by assessing requirements, optimising layouts, and selecting suitable decorative elements that align with Faircape’s brand identity.
    • Develop detailed project schedules, track progress, and ensure all work is completed within set timelines and budgets.
    • Provide regular updates and transparent reporting to management on project status, timelines, and any potential risks or delays.
    • Propose cohesive colour schemes, innovative design concepts, furniture arrangements, and tailored lighting solutions for various spaces.
    • Recommend high-quality fabrics, cushions, sofas, rugs, and accessories that balance style, durability, and maintenance requirements.
    • Source and select furniture, materials, and décor items from trusted suppliers, ensuring quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with senior managers to refine concepts and translate ideas into actionable design plans.
    • Oversee and work closely with the procurement team to manage orders, deliveries, and supplier relationships.
    • Coordinate and manage the seamless implementation of design changes within facilities, minimising disruption to residents and staff.
    • Conduct regular inspections of all villages, reviewing interiors and identifying opportunities for improvement or refurbishment.
    • Drive continuous enhancements to Faircape’s interior spaces, ensuring they remain inviting, contemporary, and reflective of our high standards.
    • Research and stay informed on emerging interior design trends, innovations, and best practices, applying relevant ideas to keep Faircape’s spaces ahead of the curve.
    • Ensure all design solutions prioritise accessibility, comfort, and safety for residents, guests, and staff.
    • Maintain a design library of finishes, fabrics, and materials to streamline future projects.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Interior Design or a related field (advantageous).

    Experience:

    • Proven experience as an Interior Designer 
    • Solid understanding of design principles, spatial planning, and colour theory.
    • Proven ability to deliver innovative and practical design solutions.
    • Knowledge of materials, finishes, furnishings, and lighting solutions suitable for both residential and office spaces.
    • Familiarity with project management principles and working within budget and time constraints.
    • Proficiency in design software 

    Skills & Attributes:

    • Creativity and originality in concept development.
    • Strong visualisation skills with the ability to translate ideas into reality.
    • Knowledge of design principles, including balance, proportion, and harmony.
    • Project management skills from concept to implementation.
