    Quality Control Supervisor

    The Quality Control Supervisor will perform core tasks to manage and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Quality Control team and in charge of laboratory equipment.

    The successful candidate will have strong quality knowledge, coach and train team members, and work efficiently with internal stakeholders to meet tight deadlines.

    Key responsibilities

    • Manage laboratory personnel
    • Ensure the laboratory analysts are trained and use proper SOPs & comply with safety regulations
    • Enforce food safety programs including GMP and SOP documentation
    • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining quality assurance systems and activities
    • Compile weekly KPI reports
    • Directly guide the activities of quality analysts by decision making of out of specification products
    • Provide leadership direction to subordinates in the development and practice of Safe Work Practices with Quality and Production requirements including HACCP.
    • Manage the Quality systems computer programme (MFGpro /SAP)
    • Conduct daily laboratory meetings
    • Investigation of customer complaints and feedback to management and sales representatives
    • Encourage laboratory personnel to ensure quality assurance and control as well as adherence to health care policy and ethics.
    • Monitors subordinates' work & progress to ensure that all laboratory employees comply with relevant policies and ethics
    • Analyse & interpret laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes
    • Administers laboratory inventories such as supplies, equipment & consumables.
    • Direct observations of routine patient test performance, including preparation, if applicable, specimen handling, processing & testing.
    • Monitoring the recording and reporting of test results
    • Review of intermediate test results or worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing results, and preventive maintenance records
    • Direct observations of performance of instrument maintenance and function checks.
    • Assessment of test performance through testing previously analysed specimens, internal blind testing samples or external proficiency testing samples
    • Ensure QA and QC programs are established, maintained & are effective in identifying problems

    Qualifications And Skills

    • Minimum National Diploma in Food Technology / B-Tech in Food Technology, BSc. Food Science
    • 2-3 years’ experience in a Food Manufacturing environment
    • Food technology / factory experience in Quality control, food safety and internal auditing
    • Strong analytical skill and pay attention to details
    • Microsoft Office Experience (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
    • A motivated and driven individual with the core competencies required to succeed in a demanding and challenging working environment
    • Good problem solving and decision-making ability to enhance workflow efficiencies and effectiveness

    About The Role
    Key responsibilities

    • Responsible for directing site food safety and quality initiatives.
    • Provide support to the QHSE COE and technology cluster to ensure all directives, policies and initiatives are effectively incorporated at plant level.
    • Ensure Food Safety and quality of products to meet all customer and Kerry specifications.
    • Ensure compliance with all food safety and quality policies, standards, procedures & work instructions.
    • Supervise & coordinate all laboratory testing to ensure accuracy, efficiency & timeliness of results.
    • Develop and maintain procedures and documentation which assure product and service quality.
    • Implement Quality objectives in line with the COE programs and one way of working.
    • Implement KPIs, targets, Quality Improvement Programs and guidelines.
    • Communicate process capability to commercialization team.
    • Supervise product scale up process with RD&A and ensure quality requirements are agreed at the time of commercialization.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
    • Continually evaluate and trend process controls, food safety and quality programs.
    • Manage consumer complaints, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Manage quality and food safety issues in line with cluster communication and escalation protocols to enable appropriate level of decision making.
    • Maintain and active list of suppliers used by the site and engage Regional Supply Quality for audits and supporting documentation.
    • Responsible for quality talent management, development programs, objectives & performance appraisals.
    • Provide ongoing guidance, supervision, and vision to support comprehensive quality and food safety programs for Kerry; ensuring continuity of business according to Kerry, customer and regulatory expectations.

    Qualifications And Skills

    • Relevant tertiary qualifications Science degree.
    • Min. 3-5 years’ experience within the Pharmaceutical/Consumer Applicable food processing technology and statistical processes.
    • Qualified background in food chemistry, sensory, microbiology, food packaging systems & food engineering.
    • Ability to drive continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
    • Problem solving and complaint resolution.
    • Strong Interpersonal, communication, coaching and conflict management skills.
