• A well-established meat processing business is seeking a skilled and experienced Quality and Process Control Manager to join their dynamic team. The role is primarily based at the leather processing facility in Oudtshoorn, and interaction with other processing facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and improving quality control systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, optimizing processes, and collaborating with teams to enhance efficiency, standardization, and client satisfaction.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Information Systems)
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in quality assurance and process control within the manufacturing industry
• Hands-on experience with all leather processing methods is of great advantage
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills to identify and implement quality improvements
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Excel, SharePoint, Forms, Scheduling, Word, etc.)
• The successful candidate will be required to pursue further studies for 3 years in leather production

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Operating and improving the tannery Quality Management System (ISO 9001) to ensure adherence to standards and client specifications.
• Conducting on-floor internal audits to enhance standardization for tannery processes, materials, personnel, and machinery.
• Recording essential quality points and parameters throughout the production process.
• Developing and improving quality measurement systems, incorporating AI technologies where applicable.
• Identifying deviations from quality standards and collaborating with production staff to make necessary process adjustments.
• Acting as the primary liaison with clients regarding their quality requirements.
• Training staff on quality improvements as needed.
• Standardizing quality control-related processes across two tanneries.
• Ensuring optimization and continuous improvement of processing methods.
• Implementing best practices for efficiency, waste reduction, and cost control.
• Monitoring production workflows, identifying areas for improvement and automation.
• Collaborating with production teams to enhance efficiency and consistency in processing.
• Analyzing data trends to drive decision-making and improve processes.

• A well-established meat processing business is seeking a SHEQ Officer to ensure that tannery operations comply with Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality regulations. The successful candidate will revise, develop, implement, and monitor the company’s integrated management systems, such as ISO 14001 and Leather Working Group (LWG), to minimize the environmental footprint, prevent occupational hazards, and ensure product quality.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a tertiary qualification in Science (e.g., B.Sc.), Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field
• Experience in the SHEQ sector is advantageous
• Must have an understanding of wastewater treatment processes and technologies
• Knowledge of SHEQ regulations and management principles, or a willingness to master them, is essential
• Must be a logical thinker with analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret environmental and safety data as well as make informed decisions
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and Leather Working Group (LWG) systems is advantageous
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Revising, developing, implementing, and monitoring integrated SHEQ policies, procedures, and standards to comply with ISO 14001 and Leather Working Group (LWG) standards.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, permits, and licenses.
• Conducting regular audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Managing and improving the wastewater (effluent) plant.
• Implementing and managing waste minimization, recycling, and disposal programs.
• Monitoring and reporting on SHEQ performance metrics (e.g., energy, water, air emissions, and workplace safety).
• Assisting with energy-efficient practices, renewable energy systems, water-saving measures, air pollution control measures, and other sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborating with production teams to implement environmentally friendly, safe, and quality-focused practices.
• Developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs, including training and emergency response plans.
• Ensuring compliance with internal quality management standards in line with client specifications.
• Identifying deviations from quality standards and coordinating with production staff to make necessary process adjustments.
