    Electrical Project Engineer

    Your mission:

    • Identification of project / end-user requirements  
    • Identification and selection of suitable electrical engineering solutions for projects during the project planning phase
    • Development of selected electrical engineering solutions to appropriate level of detail for capital expenditure (capex) application
    • Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates in preparation for capex applications
    • Preparation of preliminary engineering plans in preparation for capex approval, and detailed engineering plans after capex approval
    • Responsible for implementation of electrical solutions after capex approval. This will be done in conjunction with original equipment suppliers and external design consultants where necessary.  
    • Involvement in procurement processes. This includes compiling technical specifications for equipment and services, adjudication processes and order generation 
    • Co-ordination of drawing and design work and ensuring proper approval of all project drawings
    • Review and approval of all relevant project documentation and drawings supplied by equipment suppliers / consultants 
    • Management and coordination of work conducted by external design consultants and suppliers
    • Ensuring that relevant engineering processes and standards are applied
    • Provision of  leadership or assistance to construction teams during equipment installation and commissioning
    • Ensure the regular updating of engineering deliverable progress on PPO.
    • Conceptual and analytical problem solving required
    • Stay abreast of latest technologies and provide solutions for their integration into existing plant infrastructure

    Your profile:

    • BSc / B Eng Electrical Engineering (NQF 8) or Equivalent
    • Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) will be an advantage
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) with PMI (Project Management Institute) or equivalent will be an advantage
    • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) will be an advantage
    • A minimum of 5 years Project Management experience in an industrial environment, 
    • A minimum of 2 years within a leadership role
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial
    • Must have an understanding of projects elements which includes scope, time, quality, costs, human resource, communication, risk and procurement management
    • Must have an understanding of projects life cycles
    • Knowledge and experience in engineering design, developing and maintaining of systems to meet required specifications, construction, commissioning and handover phases of project execution
    • Must have a reasonable understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. of South Africa
    • Good understanding of the PMBOK principles
    • Prepared to be on standby when required

    Mechanical Technician

    Your mission:

    • Holding the responsibility of the technical expert of plant machinery, from the mechanical perspective
    • Managing the compliance and execution of all mechanical statutory requirements in the assigned plant
    • Providing technical support (in terms of data, information, etc.) to the maintenance execution team
    • The execution of more complex maintenance activities, including the management of contractors required for these activities
    • The role shall serve as the first call on break-down events to support the problem diagnosis and advise the maintenance execution team on appropriate corrective action
    • Troubleshooting – understand and utilise technical drawings, P&ID’s, etc. for fault finding on plant problems
    • Ensure adherence to engineering standards by the team during maintenance execution
    • The role shall provide support to the planning department on routine maintenance and shut-down activities from a technical perspective
    • Management of repairable and non-repairable spare parts as per the RACI definition of the process procedure, such as quality check activities, etc
    • Management of specific maintenance service contracts in the plant
    • Analysis and ownership of actions arising from equipment condition-based monitoring reports (including scoping of work). Collaboration with condition-monitoring team from this perspective
    • Management of operational risk arising from equipment defects and faults (‘mill equipment risk list’)
    • Identify and implement small-scope improvement projects and initiatives from a technical design perspective with the intention on improving service life
    • Auditing of the quality of service received by the Central Maintenance Services department
    • Auditing of the quality of maintenance performed by centralised maintenance execution (hydraulics and rolls)
    • Maintaining the required condition of plant and equipment
    • Direct support and management (setting the standard) of the quality of maintenance execution in the plant
    • Management of the plant technical documentation as per the RACI definition of the process procedure
    • Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance to all mill asset care procedures (with specific reference to Work Order, Technical Change and Shutdown Management processes)
    • Support the central Engineering department during appropriate technical processes (for example, RCFA investigations)
    • Support the central Engineering department through the identification of improvement potential and sources of loss
    • Support the central Engineering department in the development of applicable Engineering Standards for the mill

    Your profile:

    • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum NQF level 6
    • 3 to 5 years within the maintenance / engineering function in a heavy industry environment – pulp and paper, steel processing, mining, etc
    • 1 to 3 years in the role of mechanical technician within this environment would be advantageous

    Experience in the application of the following core engineering processes:

    • Maintenance quality management
    • Shutdown management and task execution
    • Budgeting and cost management
    • Contractor management
    • Fault-finding and troubleshooting (application of problem-solving techniques & tools)
