    Production Supervisor - Johannesburg

    Reporting directly to the Production Managerthe successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Responsible for the confidentiality of the formulae and other matters entrusted to his/her during or after his/her employment with the company.
    • To train new operators in their job role respectively.
    • Ensure correct dress code & PPE with proper sanitation of all operators in the Factory before entering production room.
    • Prepare a daily schedule for the operators and arrange their duty accordingly.
    • Ensure correct scaling of safe raw materials used in daily production.
    • Ensure operator perform correct selection of batch numbers for all raw materials in the WMS system for traceability purposes. 
    • To inform Production Manager should there be any problem arising.
    • Ensure correct dumping of raw materials at dumping stations and paths as programmed in the batch control system.
    • Ensure correct scaling of finished goods and good sealing and labelling after packing by the operator.
    • Ensure all finished goods go through metal detector and inform Production Manager and issue stop work order if there is any rejection after metal detection. To put on hold for the rejected products for QC inspection.
    • Monitor and Apply ‘Reuse/rework’ procedure for reprocessing drains, internal non-conformities,
    • Ensure the internal CIP and/or cleaning procedures are applied for the production line.
    • Ensure and verify operators perform daily checking of all tools, machinery, and facilities (e.g., Lighting, air-conditioning, waste bin) inclusive pallets used in production are of good & hygiene condition.
    • Ensure all production tasks are in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Assist the Production Manager in problem solving when necessary.
    • Maintain good housekeeping, ensure adherence to HSE legal compliance and safety practices. Importantly to practice high level of hygiene & sanitations in the production.
    • Carry out maintenance of the production machinery /equipment as instructed by Production Manager, including daily machine start-up check in the production floor.
    • Take good care of all machinery & equipment of the company.
    • Participate within direct reports and support groups especially from Quality department.
    • Fully support the implementation of GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, GU & Halal requirements of the company
    • Be the Ambassador of Puratos Magic within the team.
    • Communicate daily targets, monitor team and machinery performance.
    • Deal with Disciplinary matters of team members according to Company Policies

    PROFILE

    • Grade 12 (Matric), and diploma or degree in Production Management, Quality or Food tech
    • Minimum of 5 years as production operator, of which at least 2 years team leader; food sector (FMCG market) is an advantage.
    • Experience leading, providing coaching, developing talent, and building a high-performance team.
    • Computer literacy: MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
    • Numerical Skill – must be able to calculate, teach and implement costings at
    • Over and above normal working hours, occasional overtime is required.
    • Culture awareness and experience of diversity
    • Business fluent in English (written & verbal)

    Junior Technical Advisor (Bakery Manager) - East London

    Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:

    • Baking and demonstrating finished goods in assigned channels and teach on how to use the Company’s products.
    • Working closely with the sales team to reach Sales target
    • To coach and mentor new recruits and all the colleagues within the department

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Bake all products with excellence
    • Train customer bakers on the Company’s products
    • Present finished goods – to a minimum of ten people – and sell concept solutions
    • Work with the sales team to build and grow the business.
    • Plan and execute daily and weekly bakery production, and implement thereof at store level.
    • Build relationships with customers.
    • Give technical advice.
    • Facilitate and train groups of people (maximum of 25 people) and be able to control and facilitate the group(s)
    • Create new innovative products from existing and newly developed products
    • Perform under pressure during shows, presentations and store openings
    • Present to different calibre of people (management, in-house staff, bakers)
    • Calculate, teach and implement costings at store level
    • Apply skills by putting recipes together using baker percentage
    • Perform other duties as per operational requirements

    PROFILE

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Minimum of 8 years as a baker and confectioner, of which at least 3 years was in a supervisory role (managerial role advantageous); B2B is an advantage; food sector (FMCG market) is an advantage.
    • Experience leading leaders, providing coaching, developing talent, and building a high-performance team
    • Computer literacy: MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
    • Knowledge of basic arithmetic – must be able to calculate, teach and implement costings at store level, and apply skills
    • Over and above normal working hours, occasional overtime is required
    • Sleep away from home
    • Experience in growing a business
    • Culture awareness and experience of diversity
    • Business fluent in English (written & verbal)
