    Junior Intelligence Analyst

    What will you do?

    The Junior Intelligence Analyst needs to understand and interpret underwriting and claims transactions. 

    The individual operating in this position must have the ability to continuously perform and multi-task with ease across all the following disciplines: 
    underwriting, claims analysis and intelligence gathering to support the business.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    •    Analysis
    •    Intelligence gathering Reporting on Group Intelligence Unit’s productivity
    •    Client relationships

    What will make you successful in this role?

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    •    3-5 years’ experience in underwriting and/or claims 
    •    Matric essential. An insuance qualification is recommended
    •    Understanding data sources within Santam 

     

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
    •    Short term insurance knowledge 
    •    Understanding Santam’s underwriting, claims and/or financial processes and systems
    •    Strong analytical skills.
    •    Good interpersonal skills.
    •    Ability to balance between technical and interpersonal skills.
    •    Computer literate – Microsoft package
    •    Must be able to work independently or within a team.
    •    Ability to apply conceptual, logical thinking and cognitive flexibility.

    •    A basic understanding of Insurance knowledge and of potential business integrity risks (a.k.a. fraud risks) affecting the short-term insurance industry.
    •    Working knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory regulations as well as keeping abreast of new developments and changes within the 
          short-term insurance and financial services industry.
    •    An understanding of the Santam Group business operational environment and the short-term insurance industry in general.
    •    A basic  understanding of business processes, risks and controls.
    •    Good communication skills both written and verbal.

    Information Analyst

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Translate the IM strategy and SIMA/Board approved data policies & standards into data governance processes and develop/support the development of supporting process artefacts & mechanisms

    • Assist Information Managers in performing impact assessment of policies and standards on Business Units 

    • Define specifications for additional requirements and architectures to support data governance

    • Assist BU/Divisional Information Managers and Information Governance Specialist in the development of data related solutions to improve their BU data quality and financial/operational performance.

    • Support BU Information Managers in the identification of BU- and initiative specific data subject areas, data journeys, Data Owners and Data Stewards

    • Stay current on industry practices and trends in the short-term insurance and digital environments and contribute innovative ideas and design of long-term, sustainable information related solutions

    • Participate in quality assurance, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as well as demos and training of new IM related solutions

    • Support the Information Governance Specialist in driving data literacy initiatives, providing training and measuring the effectiveness

    • Define/develop new reports for regulatory and financial reporting

    • Identify and maintain data lineage and data catalogue

    Qualification & Experience

    •  Relevant Tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma in business/data analysis from an industry-recognised training institution

    • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma would be highly recommended

    • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional Practice (CDMP), preferably practitioner level, would be highly recommended

    • CBAP Certification will be advantageous

    • 5 years relevant experience as a Business Analyst

    • 3 years’ relevant experience in Data Analysis

    • 3 years relevant experience as a Project Manager

    • 2 years’ relevant experience in Business Process Management

    • MS SQL knowledge and experience

    • Experience in a short-term insurance environment would be advantageous

    Group Accountant (x2)

    What will make you successful in this role?

    •    Preparation of timeous and accurate statutory financial statements.
    •    Preparation of timeous and accurate monthly management reports.
    •    Assistance with audit queries.
    •    Assistance with ad hoc queries from Exco and business units.
    •    Assistance with general ledger process.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


    •    CA (SA)
    •    Minimum 3 years financial services experience at a senior level; experience in the insurance industry on a senior level would be highly recommended.
    •    Extensive financial accounting experience in complex technical environments, including group reporting experience.
    •    Experience in financial management reporting.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 


    •    Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of IFRS, including insurance accounting.
    •    Insurance Act, Companies Act
    •    Tax knowledge
    •    Computer literate (Advanced Excel)
    •    Knowledge of and experience with Hyperion Financial Management would be highly recommended. 
    •    Knowledge and understanding of all legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, Skills Development Act, BBBEE, BCEA, etc.) would be advantageous.
    •    Strong numeracy and analytical skills
