    Knowledge Management and Business Process Specialist

    Sasol Mining operates six coal mines that supply feedstock for our Southern African integrated value chain. The coal supplied to Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) is mainly used as gasification feedstock and some is used to generate electricity. The coal supplied to Sasolburg Operations (SO) is used to generate electricity and steam. We also export coal from the Twistdraai Export Plant to international power generation customers via the Richards Bay Coal Terminal.

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    • Business process development and optimisation

    Mine Overseer Production (NPE)

    Provide the leadership required to create high performance teams - capable of reaching all their targets, as well as to do the coaching required for the teams to function successfully without supervision.  Execute the statutory duties according to Regulation 2.14.1.

    Base Chemicals markets a broad portfolio of commodity chemicals globally. The business consists of three key divisions: Polymers, Solvents, and Explosives & Fertilisers (E&F).

    ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To inspect commercial vehicles according to a predefined inspection sheet for road worthiness, compliance to set standards etc.

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    • Diligently inspect all commercial vehicles entering the primary area to load products according to a predefined inspection sheet;
    • Inspect and validate all the drivers’ legally required documents;
    • Report all deviations according to departmental standards to supervisor;
    • Complete inspection sheet electronically on hand-held devise or PC;
    • Interact with drivers and stakeholders, pointing out deviations on vehicles and communicating clearly the implication of non-conformances;
    • Ensure that all the drivers meet the minimum pre-entry requirements (Induction);
    • Continuously inspect the staging area for safety and general housekeeping;
    • Monitor and control entry of trucks to the weigh bridge;
    • Validate all loading numbers, loading documents and the scheduling system;
    • Diligently validate drivers’ I.D/ passport and drivers’ license on all commercial vehicles entering the primary area to load products;
    • Ensure that all vehicles are correctly and accurately weighed in and out;
    • Report all non-conformances and deviations according to departmental standards to supervisor, early;
    • Continuously update all the relevant records (Scheduling, Trekscale, etc);
    • Continuously communicate with stakeholders and personnel at the various loading points and the laboratory.

    Controller Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU)

    To drive and operate bulk explosives Mobile Manufacturing Units, (MMUs), in order to deliver accurate quantities of bulk explosives at the correct blend ratio and quality at open cast mines, on time and in full. Controller: MMU must conduct maintenance on MMU equipment as and when required.

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

    • Comply with all Customer rules and procedures when operating at Customer sites;
    • Conduct daily equipment pre-start safety check noting any sub-standard conditions and report such instances to the Site Supervisor;
    • Load the MMU with the correct raw materials;
    • Calibrate the MMU on a monthly basis to ensure that it delivers the correct blend of raw materials;
    • Monitor all safety systems on the MMU plant during operation;
    • Be fully conversant with and able to control the MMU through the IBIS control system and any future variants of the IBIS system;
    • Conduct on bench quality checks on drill pattern, blast hole depths and stemming lengths;
    • Make up primers and prime blast holes;
    • Identification of any abnormal conditions on the MMU and within the work area and reporting thereof to Supervision;
    • Maintain ownership of bulk explosives MMU including housekeeping of the cab, chassis and plant;
    • Minimize and clean up any raw material spillage and dispose of any spillage in the correct waste streams;
    • Contribute to the review and generation of Sasol Base Chemicals Mining Services Works Instructions;
    • Participate in and actively contribute to Sasol and Customer induced safety initiatives;
    • Do 1st line maintenance i.e changing of bled pump, water stator, diesel stator, proxy cable and gassing stator;
    • Decontamination of trucks
