    Fire Fighter Training

    Purpose of Job

    • Identifies learning needs, applies methodologies, develops learning material and facilitates the training and assessments of the workforce/learners according to the legal requirements within business unit of responsibility and in alignment with the Training accreditation authorities (ie: IFSAC, QCTO and other), frameworks, policies and guidelines.sh)

    Key Accountabilities

    • Apply SHE best practices during all activities pertaining to training environment.
    • Identifies required learning interventions and learning outcomes.
    • Delivering learning interventions through a variety of learning methodologies and techniques Conducts evaluation of learning that has taken place in terms of measurable improvement in job performance and knowledge transfer.

    Mine Engineer

    Purpose of Job

    • To validate correct design methodology and parameters in excavation design and to support overall mine design, to ascertain coal mines stability of Sasol Group mining in line with mine health and safety act.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provides expert advice on Operational and Long Term balance regarding safety, cost and production (3) 
    • No failures of excavations 
    • Create systems (e.g. ground management standard, equipment retrieval standard, mine stability and layout, etc.) which embed safe practices as a natural way of doing things (2) 
    • Training and enabling functional specialists as well as operating personnel to understand rock mass risks and lead indicators 
    • Distil complicated concepts into simple, visible, practical training material 
    • Ensures Long Term stability of critical capital structures and environmentally sensitive areas (1) by the selection of appropriate excavation and pillar design parameters in consideration of the local geological and geotechnical environment 
    • Identify, develop and introduce best practices regarding mine design/pillar design, mining methods, support design and monitoring methods, tools and equipment (4) 
    • Remain competitive compared to our competitors 
    • Solutions established and embedded in the long term 
    • Prime responsibility for annual Rock Engineering budget and significant secondary impact on mining cost, production rate-and cost and reserve utilization 
    • Delivery against budget and reporting calendar vs target

    • Price and TCO performance vs index and benchmarks 
    • Overall accountability for strategy to strive towards best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain license to operate

    Station Commander Engineering

    Purpose of Job

    • To support the Emergency Management Engineering Function.
    • Ensure timeous and effective response to emergency incidents, on and off site and thus ensuring the protection of Sasol, its employees and other property.
    • Leading the operational team during emergency incidents while guiding the Area emergency controller during an incident. Implement operational and applicable legal requirements and processes in support of Emergency Management and Sasol's strategic objectives.
    • Represent Emergency Management at Forums, committee's and meetings.
    • Conduct audits, inspections, investigations, consultation, and evaluations application of relevant codes, standards, policy and procedures related to Emergency Management and make applicable recommendations.cy.

    Station Commander Maintenance

    Purpose of Job

    • To support the Maintenance Manager in managing and leading an Emergency Management Maintenance team. 
    • Controlling statutory maintenance work as per legal requirements by ensuring all equipment is serviced as per schedule and equipment due for hydro static testing is brought to the workshop in time. 
    • Ensure timeous and effective response to emergency incidents when on standby or as required.
    • Leading the maintenance team during emergency incidents while under the guidance of the fire ground officer emergency management. 
    • Implement operational and applicable legal requirements and processes in support of Emergency Management and Sasol's strategic objectives.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Ensuring that all servicing of all portable firefighting equipment in plants and buildings are conducted annually.
    • Ensuring the reconditioning of firefighting and life support / loan equipment.
    • Ensuring DC and SCBA workshops are compliant to the relevant legislation.
    • Ensuring that all statutory maintenance work as per legal requirements.
    • Ensuring that all equipment is serviced as per schedule and equipment due for hydro static testing is brought to the workshop in time.
    • Ensure emergency response and mitigation activities are performed in accordance with SLC’s.
    • Develop and implement Emergency Management Maintenance strategy and operating model.
    • Ensure site compliance to relevant legislative safety and emergency standards, practices and certification.
    • Provide direct input into new projects, developments, or changes to existing ways of work relating to own portfolio of services.
    • Provide and manage Emergency Services
    • Ensure site compliance to relevant legislative standards, practices, and certification.
    • Manage technical specifications and standards applicable to EM Maintenance department for safekeeping and communication.

    • Provide Operational Emergency Management inputs to plants and business units when required.
    • Ensure compliance to ISO standards (safety, document management, quality assurance)

    Formal Education

    • National Diploma in Fire Technology or equivalent and 06+ relevant years fire service experience.

    Or

    • Completed 2nd year of studies towards Diploma in fire technology (statement of results to be produced) and currently enrolled for 3rd year (Diploma NQF6) with min 07 years’ relevant experience in the fire service (proof of registration for 3rd year to be produced).
