    SALT Senior Electronics Technician

    Qualification

    • Ndip/Dip in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with 10 years post qualification experience; OR
    • BTech in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with 6 years post qualification experience

    Experience:

    • Demonstrated experience in component level fault finding analogue and digital electronics
    • Demonstrated experience in component level repairing of analogue and digital electronics
    • Experience in maintaining and repair of obsolete equipment
    • Experience in high technology work sector
    • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment
    • Low voltage «1000V electrical systems experience
    • Analyse and resolve problems on SALT equipment and subsystems.
    • Develop, coordinate, and perform routine and preventative maintenance processes and procedures on electronic, electrical and electro-optical subsystems.
    • Fault-find and repair of obsolete electronic systems and subsystems.
    • Ensure configuration control of subsystems documentation.
    • Subsystem performance analysis and reporting

    Knowledge:

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Proficient in MS Office, or similar applications (Word, Excel)

    Electronics Engineering In-Service Training

    Qualification:

    • S3/S4 Electronic Engineering qualification with good academic results specialising in telecommunications.
    • Final year of studies and in search of P1 and P2 in-service training to complete the qualification.
    • Satellite technology coursework.

    Experience / Knowledge:

    • Understanding of microwave principles, applications, and telecommunications.
    • Proficient in the English language and good communication skills.
    • Computer skills.
    • We are in a remote area with no access to public transport, applicants need to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transport to and from work.

    Key learning areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic, telecommunications, and computer hardware or software systems and equipment associated with satellite ground station operations.
    • Participate in rendering specialised Tracking, Telemetry & Command (TT&C) launch support services to SLVs (Satellite launch vehicles), Transfer-Orbit Support (TOS), Launch and Early-Orbit Phase (LEOP), Emergency, In-Orbit Test (IOT) services, routine life-cycle support operations, etc.

    Head of SALT Software Engineering (Long Term Contract)

    Qualification:

    • PhD (Eng) + 5 years; or MEng/MSc (Eng) + 7 years; or BEng/BSc (Eng) + 9 years, practical experience in the full software development life cycle in a scientific, engineering, instrumentation, or industrial environment.
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar

    Experience:

    • 5 Years management experience including team leading, task management, performance management, skills development and training and budgeting.
    • Experience in project management methodologies and tools.
    • Experience in networked applications development.
    • Experience in NI LabVIEW development.
    • Proficient in MS Windows OS development environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)

    Knowledge:

    • Solid understanding of software version control
    • A good understanding of basic analogue and digital electronics
    • Proven troubleshooting experience

    DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience working in DevOps environments.
    • Scrum Master experience.
    • Experience in software development and integration for PLCs, Embedded controllers, and/ or RTOS
    • Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA)
    • Exposure to Linux OS
    • Experience with database design and/or queries (preferably MySQL)
    • C++ development
    • PLC Development (Ladder, Step-7)
    • Has a key interest in astronomy.
