    General Manager: Media Relations, Events And Stakeholder Relations

    Requirements

    • Be in a possession of a NQF Level 8 in Communications / Journalism / Public Relations/ Marketing or related field – NQF level 9 in the related field will be an added advantage.
    • 6 -10 years as a generalist in at least three functions of communications.
    • In-depth knowledge of South African media landscape and political environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of government communications.
    • Should also have 5 to 10 years of working in and/or with the public sector.
    • 5 years in a management position.
    • Understanding of the Public Access to Information Act (PAIA) and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), PFMA.
    • Understanding of the Public Relations Code of Ethics.

    Responsibilities

    • Define and implement an integrated strategic communication solution.
    • Define and implement media management and media relations solutions.
    • Define and implement internal communications and publication solutions.
    • Define and implement digital media solutions.
    • Identify communication opportunities and translate these for public and stakeholder communications.
    • Define, develop and implement strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement solutions.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including communities, government, civil society, NGOs and private sector.
    • Maintain updated stakeholder segmentations.
    • Provide strategic support and advice on stakeholder engagement, advocacy and communication at executive level.
    • Design and implement strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies.
    • Ensure appropriate ongoing engagements are maintained and led at the appropriate levels at all times.
    • Co-ordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement through events, workshops, and meetings.

    4x Field Rangers- Fixed Term Contract (Ending March 2026)

    Requirements

    • No Criminal record (Clearance must be submitted with application), reference and background checks will also be done.
    • Minimum Grade 12 (Std 10) Certificate.
    • Must be a competent swimmer and comfortable working in an aquatic environment.
    • Valid code B driver’s license will be an added advantage.
    • Skippers ticket will be an added advantage.
    • PRE SEA training will be provided.
    • Must be physically fit and willing to undergo a fitness and swimming test before the interview.
    • Ability to conduct long and extended sea patrols under unfavourable conditions and to stay on Bird Island for extended periods of time.
    • Must be willing to undergo a medical test.
    • Must be willing to undergo integrity testing.

    Responsibilities

    • Law enforcement that will include participating in regular patrols by foot, vehicle and boat.
    • Duty on Bird Island for up to three weeks at a time periodically.
    • Anti-poaching operations that will require flexi-time, sleep-out, clandestine patrols, night shift duty and overtime.
    • Assistance with natural resources management.
    • Assist with the control of all contractors movement within the park.
    • Assist with maintenance and management of all assets including boats, trailers, and vehicles.

    Section Ranger

    Requirements

    • National Diploma in Conservation or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification.
    • EMI Grade 2 designation (compulsory) or must qualify in stipulated period.
    • Driver’s Licence.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field would be an advantage.
    • 5 Years relevant work experience as a Field Ranger or in conservation management in a protected area.
    • 3 Years must be in supervision of field ranger teams.
    • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Express.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as conflict resolution, project management and liaison skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and working flexible, long and irregular hours.
    • Candidate must be physically fit.
    • Must have knowledge of the PFMA act.

    Responsibilities

    • Natural resources management that includes the implementation of invasive plant, alien animal, unnatural soil erosion and rehabilitation management programs.
    • Monitoring of developments and projects as well as areas adjacent impacting on the park.
    • Development of sound and mutually beneficial relationships with Stakeholders, neighbouring communities, NGO’s, and other associated organizations and individuals.
    • Financial administration, including budget control and monitoring expenditures
    • Supervision of interns, volunteers and contractors who provide conservation management services to the park.
    • Implementation and administration of approved conservation legislation, policy according to agreed management and operational plans.
    • Monitoring and recording of resource management data and facilitation of external research.
    • Human resources management and administration.
    • Identification and implementation of personnel development and skills training.
    • Visitor Management – including safety and security of visitors, control of visitors’ behaviour and recording, interpretation and dissemination of information.
    • Infrastructure Maintenance includes buildings, roads and signage.
    • Management of cultural historic nodes in the section.
    • Conform to Audit requirements (OHS, METT, SOAIM, SOB, and others), prescriptions, norms and standards.
